Phaedra was quite loath to transcribe the writing as she saw it, mostly because there were quite a few languages in which the slightest slip of the pen could change the entire meaning, and while Phaedra of course credited herself with impeccable transcribing skills, she’d rather not take the risk of some external factor accidentally tilting her hand and thus potentially ruining what might be an incredible discovery.
She supposed if that was what she needed to settle for, she’d settle for it, but she’d really rather arrange something else, even if this woman didn’t look like she’d be particularly open to negotiation. “You certainly don’t have to send the child unattended, and I’d be more than happy to await permission from her parents. However, if this is unacceptable, I do have some paper and a pen in my satchel. It shouldn’t take too terribly long to copy a few pages…”

Peaches snorted. "You might be waiting for months considering her parents are royalty, and I don't think they'd take too kindly to your request. Of course if you're willing to fill out ample amounts of paperwork and accompanying me to the Court of Hearts I would be more than happy to accommodate you after I get my business here completed. However, there's absolutely no guarantee that they will accept your little request, considering I had to jump through a few hoops just to take her out of the palace. I imagine studying her would be a completely different set of hoops."
The woman crossed her arms and shrugged. "Copying it down now would be your safest bet. Good luck trying to get her to sit still. Now, if you don't mind I need to get back to negotiating with this wonderful clerk."
With that said she turned her back to the woman and focused on her actual problem, leaving the child blinking in confusion.
Considering the way Grandma Peaches was ignoring her now it meant that at least... something was okay. The little squirrel looked to the Esterberry with bright eyes. It was clear that she was still hoping for candy.

Though the thought of endless amounts of bureaucracy made Phaedra weep sad little tears inside at the potential obstruction, she was sure she would attempt it eventually--when she had a little more clout, maybe. She approved of official channels and order, but when they got in her personal way...It was quite conflicting. Academic inquiry would not be thwarted by Court paperwork!
Eventually!
She dug around in her satchel, now that this purple-haired woman had turned her attention elsewhere. First she dug out her lollipops and offered a small array of them to the child. Hopefully the candy would get her to sit still for a few minutes.
"Here you are," she said, cheerfully. Her own lolly was almost gone; she'd probably grab another after the girl had made her selection. "Go ahead and grab whatever you want, then I'll copy a couple of things out of your book! That sound like a fair deal?"

The little squirrel perked when she saw the lolipops appear from the Esterberry's bag. The sweet smell of candy made her bounce slightly as she waited to be presented with her choices.
She stared at the bright colors, picking one that was a nice shade of green. That normally turned out to be a good type of lolipop. Of course it ultimately tasted like sugar, but as a child the different colors made a huge difference.
"Thank you!" the squirrel cheerily exclaimed as she took to unwrapping the confection. Being a squirrel certainly had it's benefits, and unwrapping things was one of them. Linnea squealed with delight as she sucked on her candy in victory.
She would stay rather still for the sugar guilder even without being asked. Her eyes were locked on her grandmother, waiting for the woman to be done with her official business so she could potentially play after she finished the candy treat.

Phaedra grabbed a lolly--dark red for raspberry!--and then the other important things, like her paper and her pen. She set about her work with utmost delicacy--she touched the book cautiously, wrote the words down with care. If her copy was in any way flawed, her whole venture would be ruined, and her acute paranoia steadied her hand, made the strokes of her pen more precise. She was, essentially, in a private world of academic obsession.
Finally, she had copied enough to her satisfaction, and to a rigorous degree of exactness, and she declared, happily, "All done!" Her lolly was nothing more than a tiny nub of crimson. She grabbed another as she carefully put away her things. "Thank you for being so cooperative," she told Linnea, with the remarkably grateful cheer that came with her sense of accomplishment, though she hadn't accomplished quite what she wanted. "You have done a great service to the expansion of our collective knowledge."

The little squirrel was delighted when she was allowed to move again. "Yay!" she announced brightly, her still fairly large lollipop nearly falling out of her mouth. She quickly grabbed hold of the stick and repositioned it so she wouldn't lose it again. It wasn't every day she got to have a wonderful sugary treat like this. She wasn't going to be silly and drop it on the floor or anything.
She turned to face the sugar glider her ears panning forward. "You're welcome!" she said just like she was supposed to. Mommy and Daddy would have been proud of her. They always wanted her to be helpful. "I'm happy I could help!" She practically beamed with joy.
Peaches returned with a rather sour expression on her face. The little squirrel's ears twitched, and she looked over her shoulder. Peaches expression didn't change. "Are you all finished up?"
"I helped grandma!"
Peaches patted the squirrel lightly on her head.
(OOC: Shall we wrap it up?)

(OOC: We shall! <3)
Phaedra was far too excited about the doubtless world-changing project in front of her to pay much attention to the acidic expression on the Torquehelm's face. She felt quite nearly as jolly as the child, who she had in the short time of their acquaintance rather come to like. Children were typically very disorderly outside of her home region (and even some of them had behavioral issues that needed to be corrected with early development training), but this one seemed to accommodate the people around her with alacrity. Well, at least given the proper stimulus of sugar.
"You will all of course know if I discover something," Phaedra said, reassuringly. She smiled at the little girl. "So perhaps we'll see each other again!" She inclined her head. "Thank you again. A lovely day, to the both of you."
And with that, she took her leave. There was, after all, a lot of work to do.
