Some of Lariel's more shady dealings have caused her to run afoul of the police, and they are ready to bring her in. How does she handle the whole process?
Another day, another dollar made.
Lariel pocketed the money she'd just received from her latest black market dealings and prepared to head back to her apartment in the Capitol. She'd had a few misgivings about this new buyer, but they'd come with high references from some of her established patrons. Dealing with black market paraphernalia caused the Bobcat to be very suspicious when it comes to her customers. Reference only. No strangers allowed.
Lariel watched the other feline as she made her way down the deserted alley. The woman had had the cash up front and Lariel hadn't had any trouble getting what she wanted. It was a great first transaction between the two of them and with luck the other Card would need her services again soon.
The BiPed started after the Feline towards the open streets of the Outer Bazaar, her lionfish fins glowing in the dimly lit space. She looked up just in time to see two police officers turning into the very alley the two of them still occupied. Lariel felt her heart speed up, but took a calming breath. There is nothing going on here officers... she recited in her head. And it was true; their business had already concluded and there was no evidence of the dealings. If anything, her new customer could be arrested for owning illegal property, but there was nothing to tie the Bobcat to the scene besides happenstance.
Then she saw the animal Feline stop in front of the police, turn back and point one furred paw at her.
SHIT! The little bitch was setting her up!
Lariel looked around but there were no doorways, windows, or openings of any kind. There was only forward, and back. Behind her was a very solid, very unclimbable brick wall. That only left forward – where the police and the little traitor were.
Lariel took one long, deep breath and ground her teeth together. And ran towards them.
She ran all out, holding no speed back with her fins and tail pulled tight to her body. She made almost no noise as she neared the three of them, and still no noise as she leapt into the air just before crashing into their bodies. Her feet lifted above her head as she flipped mid-air, allowing herself a brief moment to feel slightly amused at their shocked faces.
With only moments to spare Lariel released her Teacup ability, spraying the boiling water directly at the eyes of the traitor, the small feline who turned her in. You burn me – I burn you. Without the use of her eyes, even if the Card was taken to the police, she'd never be able to identify her now. She heard the Feline scream and frowned. It wasn't within her to like causing others pain, but she'd been pained first. Fair is fair after all.
One last thing... she thought before carefully landing back on her feet and activating her Black Candle ability. Lariel felt the protective bubble encase itself around her as six feet of torrential water came pouring from the heavens. She watched as both the police and the now-blind Feline were swept away in wave after wave of water. For an entire mile the alleys and streets were submerged and the Bobcat floated along, safe and dry.
