Falks still flailed under his brother's weight until he heard the familiar voice of his sister. When his brother removed himself he struggled to roll over and stand properly without crushing Benedict. Really, the jacket was a hassle at times like this.
His ears flicked forward as Vaska began to speak and explain the situation. "Y-yeah! Mommy should have been back by now. Really really really sorry to make a lot of noise...."
What if she was angry? What if she wanted to punish them? What if she was going to chop their heads off! The panic was welled up inside him as he let out a small whimper, looking up at the human.
Benedict was not amused by any of this. He had been crushed and thrown around by his brother's paranoia and he was quite sick of it. The fact that Falks sat around and took it. If he had control of the body things would be different. Xiven though. Xiven could help. She was a strong willed Heart Queen who could whip her brothers into shape. Of course.... that didn't mean she was going to. "Sorry for making a racket," Benedict interjected.
Xiven sighed. Why had her mother managed to get pregnant? It only caused trouble, and these two (and a half) siblings of hers just weren't normal. "Last time I checked Mom ran off to deliver some of her paperwork. Just next time you're playing your silly games, do it outside."
Benedict and had probably told the other two that, but they never did listen to the voice of reason. "If you want to search for her you can check in the kitchen. I know she was talking about having someone bake something for her."

Good. Good. Falks was in a good mindset and he was helping! That made everything much easier. Vaska continued to peer up at Xiven from beneath his ragged blue mane with what he hoped was an adorable and perhaps pathetic face. Luckily for him, with his wide red eyes with deep bags, he pretty much always managed to look somewhat pathetic. Then, he attempted a sweet smile along with it, but one side of his face grinned wider than the other, like always, and it probably just looked dumb.
He was trying, though.
"Yeaaaaah, just worried is all," he said, hunching up his shoulders and leaning forward a little more, head almost scraping against the ground. He glanced back at his siblings, then nodded even more when Benedict spoke. That was good. Even though the talking skull made some people nervous, he was usually better at diffusing a situation than Falks or himself.
Which kinda made him mad. Kinda.
Then, he turned his attention back onto Xiven, gaze fixed on her as he unblinkingly stared. For a while, he was listening to her every word as if she was telling him the meaning of life, but it didn't take long at all until his interest began to wane in favor of his more usual paranoid thoughts. What if she was telling them this in an attempt to get them killed? Perhaps there was a hired knife waiting in the kitchen, someone who had already killed Peaches and was now waiting to slash open their throats, too? Or maybe the baker had made a poisoned treat?
There was nothing to be done for it. Vaska had to find their mother, and he needed Falks and Ben beside him to do it. He puffed out his chest bravely. "We'll find her, then!" he announced abruptly, turning to hop-trot out of the room.

Xiven stared at the boy as he suddenly seemed to miss something entirely. At least the children were trying to be cute. It was slightly hopeful. She mentally shrugged it off and smiled at the three of them "Good luck."
Falks' ears flipped forward as he listened to his sister, and then his brother. So apparently they were going to go to the kitchen and find her? That would be fun. Especially if she was having something baked... maybe it was something special for them. For a little while the cat-bat's thoughts weren't paranoid banter. "Yeah! We'll find her!"
Benedict was unamused. The fact that no one seemed to really listen to him just made things worse. He remained silent as he watched Xiven go back into her room, and felt his brothers getting a move on. One day he would be in charge. One day. Today, however, he would just have to suck it up.
