Pan bristled when her paw was swatted away, but calmed a little when she saw a smile and what appeared to be amusement on the Canine's face. She raised up an eyebrow at him as if to say, don't judge a book by its cover, then turned towards the Chipmunk.
"Nice to meet you, Jarvis. Can I call you just Jarvis? And you're both in the Bazaar now," she explained, giving off a false air that she had a grasp on the situation.
The Mix watched Takio kick at the door and pursed her lips. Well, at least he was kicking an inanimate object instead of one of the newcomers. Though it probably didn't do anything for the calm of whoever was trapped inside.
"I think he's had one hell of a rough day," she said about Takio to Jerome. "Things aren't exactly normal today." She paused and looked up at him. "And what is your name then?"
She listened as Iso started explaining some of the goings on of the day, and the Mix felt her eyes widden from the strangeness of it all. So the woman hadn't always looked like that? Something today had happened to her? She shivered, thinking about how it would feel if she had been suddenly transformed like that.
"You've got the smell part right," she said, remarking on the rankness in the air. "A war?" Her voice was soft and thoughtful. She knew of the general dislike of the Marsh and the Lowlands for one another, but she knew nothing in the knowledge she was born with that would have escalated their bad relations to a full out war. Pan smiled at Iso, liking that the woman had cursed. For some odd reason it seemed to make her feel better.
Hearing the man speak from behind the door again, she made her way to Takio's side in time to hear him speak about monsters. "Did you just say another bunch of monsters? What do you mean, monsters?" she asked incredulously, now eyeing the tar-like substance on the ground. Bending down and sticking her nose close to it, Pan took a waft and frowned when the smell wasn't the same as the rank odor from before. In fact, it seemed even less now that she'd taken a few steps down the alley.
Turning her head to Iso, Jarvis and Jerome she waved her paw at them. "The air isn't so bad down here. We need to try and get this door open," she said, looking around the alley for anything that could be used to maybe pry it open. There was trash everywhere and even a few pieces of thin wood but nothing that looked like it could help with a caved in metal door.
"Sir, is that the only way out of there?" she asked, though realizing if there had been another way out he probably would have used it by now. But hey, not all Cards were the sharpest tools in the shed.

Just Jarvis would be perfectly alright.
The chipmunk smiled a bit before twisting his little ears back at what Iso was saying.
There is a War. My family has been part of The Resistance for generations ... but I don't think either side would take it to the general public like this.
The Lowlanders simply didn't have the means, they'd made sure of that, and he didn't think his own people would be fool enough. Was that what was going on at the palace? No.... something else was there.... those servants hadn't had any part in their war and they were still laying there headless.
His eyes narrowed a bit in suspicion as he got up to his feet and followed the group over to the trapped voice.
Jerome shook out his fur, making it fluff ever so slightly before turning his attention back to the dainty little card. Despite the initial aggression, this group seemed a little less suspicious then the first lot. Minus the 'taur of course. He'd seemed rather nice.
Jerome.
He tried to breathe more through his mouth then his nose to dodge the rather disgusting smell. He turned his head away from the group to give a little cough when something caught his attention. A window? Instead of moving toward the door, he headed straight for that window. It was close enough to the door that it might be attached to the same room, there was just something large blocking it. If it was on the same building, maybe the guy inside didn't see it cause of the what.... bookshelf? Dresser? Whatever was in front of it.
Ask him if he sees somezing large and near ze vall.
He hadn't kicked the door hard, only meant it as a sort of knock .... with his foot. His tail slowed down in it's movements as his large ears perked forward to listen to the trapped person inside. They'd probably regret doing it.... but he was quite certain the whole lot of his 'companions' would be compelled to rescue this person. But they did need to get going.... this was frustrating.
He peered over at Iso and Pandora to see if the two of them had any ideas ... but it seemed the Solandrian might have beat them to the punch.

((Crappy post... Iso's not speaking to me, but I want to see where this goes, hehe...))
Iso raised a skeptical brow at the chipmunk’s assertion.
There’s blood feuds, grudges and culturally encouraged racism, Mr. Jarvis, but full-out War is another matter entirely. Furthermore, I find it hard to believe that such action would be carried out without notice of the Courts.
She trailed the others to fully inspect the door and looked around at the others Ranks, which was odd, as she normally didn’t give much credence to that sort of thing. Unfortunately, none of them were Clubs. Damn. Her eyes caught hint of a glossy substance leading down the alleyway and frowned. That substance looked oddly familiar. Shaking her head, she focused on the task at hand. The ink could wait.
Lacking any useful spells, I doubt any of us will be able to remove this door.
The ferret sniffed delicately at the air – there was the ink smell of the tar, but Pandora was correct, the rotting smell had lessened considerably. Hopefully the stench was someone's abandoned garbage. It wouldn't surprise her in the least. Some Cards were so careless.
She trotted over to where the Solandrian was peeking at a window and nodded thoughtfully.
Wonderful idea, Mr. Jerome. Stand aside, please.
Iso raised her tail and activated one of her abilities, it wasn’t much, but if the person on the other side needed guidance, perhaps light was their best option right now. The light spilled from the tip of her tail to envelop the surrounding 10 feet in a bright glow.
We can discussed these "monsters" and your position once we have freed you. Sir? Is is this light within your sight? It’s possible there’s a window near you – we’re not sure, there may be an obstruction.
Small Ability: She is capable of causing the end of her tail to light up like a bulb once per day for up to ten minutes. The glow is bright enough to throw an area of ten feet or less into work-ready light.

((Through the window, with the help of the light, Jerome and Iso can see a mess of a room, looks as though its' been rifled through. An exceedingly heavy looking bookcase seems to be sealing the way to the next room, though, as they watch, a few scaly, black fingers poke through a hole in the back of the shelf. "I can see the light, guys. Just can't move this damn thing. I, uh...damn, I'd move it, but I don't have that...ability. Crap, if I push the door, can all of you pull or something?"
The door rattled a bit as whoever was inside apparently threw themselves at it, and then backed off. "Ok...yeah, can't do that myself. Apparently, I'm not a living battering ram...s'what I get for being a damn Bird."
Out in the street, Iso hears an odd...squelching sound...and Jarvis smells what might be...smoke?))

Pandora watched in fascination as the Ferret's tail lit up. A bulb-tail. How... interesting, and thankfully useful in this situation. She heard the man on the other side of the door confirm the large object was in fact a bookshelf but wouldn't be able to budge it on his own.
She found the idea of her helping to open a busted and beaten door laughable. Her petite form, while attractive, was simply not built for manual labor. Stepping back from the door, since she'd only be in the way when they tried to pull it open, Pan nearly tripped on a long piece of thick wood.
Moving it around with her paw, she tilted her head at it in consideration. Looking at the thick piece of wood then at the warped metal door, her Rabbit ears perked forward with an idea.
"If you're going to try and pry the door open, maybe after it opens a smidge I could wedge this thing in the crack and use some of the leverage to open it further."

Iso peered through the window to find a completely disheveled room. It was evident enough that someone had been intent on scouring every inch of the room – but for what, exactly? Odd. A muscle in her jaw twitched. This couldn’t be one of the burglars that had destroyed all those laboratories, could it? Her nose wrinkled in displeasure at the possibility. Regardless, the man probably wouldn’t be privy to an interrogation until after being rescued. Black fingers poked around a bookshelf that was blocking his exit. Hmm… Very well.
She doused the light from her tail, knowing she had a limited amount of time until that particular magical ability faded. They might just yet need the use of that light later. The ferret stepped around to the heavy metal door and saw that Pandora had found a solid-looking piece of wood. Her eyes narrowed as she thought.
Mr. Jarvis? How strong are those interesting limbs of yours? Perhaps we could do as Pandora suggests. If some of us pull directly on the door, and others help lever it open with Pandora’s help, we might just move it enough for the gentleman to slip through?
The doctor looked to the others for their thoughts, still very much agitated that they hadn’t a single Club between them. It would have made this task so much easier. As she considered other options, a disturbing sound caught her attention. It sounded as though somebody had stepped in something… ripe. The ink along her back rippled nervously as she turned her head toward the sound.
She frowned, looking about her, but didn't see anything in her immediate vicinity (5). No one had made any noises of discontent or disgust, so it couldn't have been anyone in their group.
Excuse me, but did anyone hear that?

The chipmunk sighed. Obviously they didn't care to hear anything about what was really going on back in the respective realms, as well as in the Range. The courts ignored the Lowland plight almost completely as most nobles weren't supporters, or wanted to be labeled as such for fear of controversy. Except the court of Clubs it seemed, as he knew very well that one of their Jacks was part Lowlander. They'd gotten less guff for it since the man had acquired a human form, but still.... it would be a mark against the Court in many people's eyes.... including his own.
But he wasn't going to argue with the ferret, if not just for the simply fact that he had a great respect for her realm, but also because he liked to avoid conflict whenever possible. Perhaps a trait from being the youngest of so many children?
He silently investigated the door and frowned lightly.
They can support my weight, but I'm not sure how well they'd work in pulling. Biological, not mechanical you see ....
They were, after all, covered in chitin, not metal, like so many seemed to think. Strong enough, but not invincible. They were a part of him, and they did feel pain.... he didn't fancy breaking one of them.
Jerome backed away a bit when that finger poked through the hole... it seemed.... strange and he didn't trust it. He flipped his ears back, wanting to try and convince the whole group to simply leave the man there and be on their way.... but he had a feeling that just wouldn't work. He looked each of his party members over once again and his ears dropped down into an odd position. Clearly he was the only one in this rag tag bunch that wasn't on the more delicate side of the spectrum.
He sauntered past the rest of them and grasped part of the broken door with his front paws.
Alright, pull. Now.
He gave them all a little bit of time to reach him and help before giving a great heave, and a grunt to go along with it. Jarvis stumbled over behind him, bent over and grabbed it as well, lending his own strength to the effort.
Takio all but balked at the thought of trying to physically heave the door from it's frame. Physical strength was certainly something that he wasn't naturally gifted with, nor was he quite full of the desire to free whomever was waiting behind it. There might very well be a good reason he was locked in there.... and they might be meddling with things they shouldn't be.
But at the same time, the faster he appeased the general desires of the group, the faster they could start looking for Sonata. He moved forward, bent down and grasped the door as well, giving a pull of his own. If anything bad became of his fingers, or hands.... he'd skin them all personally and market their coats as Ace fur.... he would, he swore it in his own mind.

(( As the door was pulled, they could feel the creature on the other side pushing with all his might. The door gave a loud, protesting screech of metal on metal, before it slammed outward toward those pulling. "Woo! Hell, yes!" The voice cries jovially, as someone stumbles out from inside. A Corvie, Crow, from the looks of him. Scruffy and ruffled, feathers bent and in disarray; he gives them all a wry grin and sticks a long-fingered, scaly hand out to the first person he sets eyes on, Jarvis.
"Holy shit, thanks!" He glances back at what is apparently his lab and sighs. "So much for all my crap, huh? So...Hi? Yeah, hey; I'm Don, Donovan Briston, but Don'll do. You guys?" He's a tattered looking thing, probably not very high ranked, and smells like oil, charcoal, and sweat. He has a writhing box under his wing and looks slightly abashed, but pleased with himself. "So, you want history? There's been this freaky monster hounding all around the place, huuuge thing, made of oil, ink, or something." Seeming rather proud, he pulls the box out and lifts the lid just a hair. Something thick, black, and nearly liquid is visible for a second, before he slams the lid closed again. "I caught one, been running tests on it; they're usually as big as two of you." He said, gesturing to the bulky Akita. "Or bigger, thrash around destroying shit? Yeah, oh hey, one's been by? Cool, I-" Catching sight of Iso, he stops, and stares. "Oh damn, girl! You touched it, didn't you? Gotta be careful about that, the guy three doors down lost a leg doing that. Looks good on you though, like some kind of supreme 'horror'." He shrugs, glances around at the rest, and his smile fades slightly once it alights on the Tulgey mix. And said mix's expression... "Oh..." He searches for and discovers the man's Suit and Rank. "Right...you'll probably be wanting payment, then." He moves back inside of his lab and comes back out with a few things, one of them rolled out behind him. "Well, I guess you can have these. Some dude commissioned them from me a while ago and never turned up for'em. Glad he paid ahead of time; freaky noble-type, you know? Fany name and all; "Zacharias", oooh, fancy. And uh, I guess you guys can have my blob. I managed to separate it into two so I can keep running tests and stuff...just doesn't give me a control group." He mutters reluctantly, holding them out to see who takes what. "Found these too, they're um...magic, I know I just don't know what they are."
(Blobling goes to one of Kitty's characters; Kitty gets no other prizes)
ID: B04 out of 10 Species: Blobling Characteristic: Ink
Notes: This little Blobling is not elastic, but more of a thick, sticky substance. It is able to secrete a thick, bubbling foam that smells overpoweringly like pen ink whenever it feels that itself or its master is threatened. It will only take to the creature it has bonded to, though if that creature dies, it might consider another. Once a week, it is able to spit its foam with percision, causing temporary blindness of up to one minute. Bloblings are exceedingly rare, in fact, there are only 10 of them. They cannot breed, cannot be split into multiples, and will not ever be found again. They have a mildly frightening aura and will not be viewed as a normal pet or familiar, many will view them with disgust and trepidation or fear.
(Don will hand this to Iso with a little smile. "Here, the Zach dude never picked this up. You're pretty, you have it."
Mechanical Heart: Wow...cool! This mechanical heart looks like a perfect replica made from copper. Small pipes that jut out from the side exude steam slowly and gently with each pulse motion of the heart. As the man who just gave it to you said, "Just tell it that you love it, but only if you want it.", the heart just needs to be told it is loved to be equipped. If this is done, it will slide painlessly into the SD's chest and over the course of 30 exhausting minutes, replace their own original heart. With this heart, they will be able to, once a week, cause another SD ranked King or lower to suffer a heart attack at the whisper of "Convulse". This painful episode lasts for a full minute and will leave the victim alive, but clutching their chest and in paroxysms of pain. The owner cannot be harmed by normal weaponry or weapons with magical equaling 50p or less, these weapons will simply slough off of them of bounce off ineffectually. Any spells that have to do with the heart no longer affect this SD.
"He never picked this up either. Don't really know what it does, I was just supposed to reconnect the insides. Here." The Corvie says, handing the next item to Pan.
Sewage Pump: This odd, tiny, thick bodied machine hisses violently when disconnected and spews a foul-smelling liquid around the room. The machine tingles sharply to the touch, and the person to actually disconnect it will feel as though they have been shocked. Their eyes will tingle, though not painfully, and they will find themselves floating slowly off the floor, once they are three feet off the ground, their eyes will become an off, illuminated blue, as though strong blue lights are glowing from behind them. Smooth, constant trails of what seem to be tears will begin running from their tear-ducts, but upon closer inspection, turns out to be small trails of pure silver. This liquid silver runs constantly and the SD can learn to use it to mold small sculptures and creations from it. This obstructs their vision slightly and they may need reading glasses after this power has taken hold of them, but other than that, they should suffer no ill effects.
Tamis's Ear 7: Covered in black, inky slime, it oozes everywhere and tingles a little to the touch...wonder what would happen if all 15 pieces were assembled? (These pieces could all be brought together to create either an item, potion, or familiar. The Dealer would need all 15 pieces (all beginning with "Tamis"), each of them being worth about 50p apiece. Feel free to trade them about. The maximum number of dealers this can be split between is two, but it will be less potent.) Tamis's Tail 8: Covered in black, inky slime, it oozes everywhere and tingles a little to the touch...wonder what would happen if all 15 pieces were assembled? (These pieces could all be brought together to create either an item, potion, or familiar. The Dealer would need all 15 pieces (all beginning with "Tamis"), each of them being worth about 50p apiece. Feel free to trade them about. The maximum number of dealers this can be split between is two, but it will be less potent.) Tamis's Eye 9: Covered in black, inky slime, it oozes everywhere and tingles a little to the touch...wonder what would happen if all 15 pieces were assembled? (These pieces could all be brought together to create either an item, potion, or familiar. The Dealer would need all 15 pieces (all beginning with "Tamis"), each of them being worth about 50p apiece. Oh yes, I see. You’re quite right. The lighting is rather poor.
When she had used her ability she had neglected to closely investigate her companions. She had been solely focused on her task. The ferret blinked, realizing the habit was currently a dangerous one. It was immensely helpful when performing surgery or conducting experiments, but tonight it could prove fatal. She needed to be wary of everything. How embarrassing to not notice the composition of his extraneous limbs.
The ink drooped sadly from her back as she rubbed her forehead with a paw, then she straightened suddenly and padded over to assist Jarvis. He had taken the lead despite having those organic extremities. Raising an eyebrow at the Tulgey mix –even Pandora was making use of herself – and reached for the metal door.
The door thrust forward from the combined force of all their efforts. A biped Crow tumbled out from behind the collapsed grate and let out a whoop of cheer. As he cleared the debris, the door sagged and stuck open just enough for the bird to slip back in.
Her eyebrows rose as he described what he’d been doing and at the mysterious box that jumped between his claws.
Monsters of ink? Then that… her head turned in the direction of the oily trail leading down the other side road. It was unnecessary to complete her thought. Was that something white amongst the inky fluid?
He was a fellow Corvie, scarred – most likely from past research endeavors, with a quick grin and wagging tongue. Uncultured, clearly, but there was something admirable about the way he threw himself into this. Her heart fluttered at his compliments; she almost relinquished hold of the beautiful advice he gifted her. The ferret had never felt the way she had before, ever, and there was her inky back curling and uncurling with excitement.
She was thankful her coloring was dark, so it could not betray the heat in her cheeks.
Gently stowing the coppery heart into her coin purse, the doctor cleared her throat and rescinded her earlier thought –right now she needed to focus. Th…ank you. I’m sure you’ll be able to recover your personal belongings at a later time, she fumbled.
Zacharias? The Spade rolled the name around her tongue. Was a noble’s name supposed to prove significant? While she thought, her eyes lingered a moment on the strange, muddy-looking creature that was handed it over. Did it have eyes?
I am Doctor Iaso Price. Iso, please. She briefly introduced the others and explained their situation. Have you any notion about these laboratory thefts? Or why tonight is so strange?
((Oh, Iso... where is your caution?? Handsome Corvie fuddling your thoughts?))

((Yay, body parts!!! lmfao I'll take the eye, if that's cool with everyone. I know they are all the same but the eye just seems cool.))
Pandora had been pushing against the impromptu wooden crowbar with all her dainty might when the door finally gave way. She tumbled to the street, wincing as a few scrapes pained her. Picking herself up and dusting herself off as best she can, she preens for a few moments before turning her attention to the new Card.
A Corvie, by the looks of him. But my that was a big crow! She thought, tilting her head upwards to look at him. She steps forward to intruduce herself and crinkles the skin above her beak. My, but he smelled a little off!
"My name's Pandora," she said, looking curiosly at the box under Donovan's wing.
Pan listened to his story with some trepidation. First an all out war between Lowlanders and Josiggys, now there is some sort of monster lurking about, made of ink? That, or the man had gone completely 'round the bend. The pretty Mix was just about to decide that was the case -there weren't really any monsters- when he remarked about the stubstance on the Ferret's back. The black stuff was certainly real enough, so did that mean the creature he was talking about was too? Now Pan was afraid the Crow was telling the truth.
"Payment, for what?" she asked, confused, but already the man had returned with a few odds and ends, including what looked like a pile of sludge. Pandora hoped he didn't had that ugly thing to her!
She watched when the BiPed handed what looked like a heart made out of some sort of metal to Iso, then turned and handed her... what the hell was this thing?! Turning it over in her paws, Pan gave a fake grin to the man. "Er, thank you Donovan." What on earth would she want with a machine and pipes? Did she really look like someone who might enjoy that? Still, she thought and clacked her beak absently, the man was being kind. He didn't have to give them this junk after all.
Hiding it as best she could, Pan hated to admit that the Corvie found the Ferret more pretty than she. After all, Iso had all that sludge covering her face! She tried to remind herself that wasn't imporant right now. Though she couldn't help but glance at Iso a couple of times out of the corner of her eye, trying to find out what the man thought was so appealing about her.
Thinking the gift-giving session was over, Pan almost let out a yelp when Donovan handed her a slimey eyeball!! Gulping loudly she coudn't muster up enough force to actually look pleased about this. After holding an inky and slimey eyeball in her other paw, the little machine in the other actually seemed rather nice. "Gross," she whispered under her breath.
Pan's ears flicked forward, then back, her large eyes looking around the alleyway in search of the forementioned monster, but there was only that inky trail leading away from them. She clacked her beak together in thought. If they followed that trail, could they get a glimpse of what this man seemed to be talking about?
She listened as Iso talked to Donovan, noting the black stubstance on her back rippling. It wasn't the same as before. It almost looked...happy. Pan looked at the woman's face and smiled. At least she wasn't the only one who appreciated compliments then.
Pan wanted to tell this Crow and Iso about her birth, they both seemed very reasonable if not a bit eccentric, but she dared not mention anything in front of the others.
Looking around again, her ears perked forward, ready to listen for anything out of the ordinary.
"I'd like to hear any explanations about tonight's goings on as well, but don't you all think we should maybe try and get somewhere a little less out in the open?" the Mix suggested.
