Farran's scream snapped Ark out of his daze, but he still wasn't sure what to do. Was it better to fight the other King, or just run for it? Last time he'd been attacked by someone, he'd struggled with the exact same question, and it wasn't any easier now...of course, as Mephit dove towards Farran, his eyes widened, protective instincts kicking in, and he tried to dive to block her way. Midair, the pain ability hit, and he let out a howl of pain and fell like a rock, hitting the ground hard enough to knock the wind out of him and probably leave a bruise.
He shook his head, trying to dislodge the HORRIBLE BURNING pain at the base of his skull. He'd felt another Heart pain ability just once in his life, and it had been nowhere near this strong or painful. He grit his teeth against the pain, spots swimming before his eyes...no, Farran was...he was being attacked...Ark had to do SOMEthing...he dizzily tried to recall an ability, ANY ability, and only one came to mind.
The water would come suddenly, created out of the air right above the Deer's head. It would hopefully be enough to distract her, at least, though it might also hit Farran.
Strong Magical Ability: When activated, he can create up to two gallons of drinking water up to five times per day.

The King’s demeanor changed instantly, the eyes flashing dangerously as her ears flattened against her head in displeasure. She had been so calm before, despite the blood dripping from her rapier and the cobblestones turning red from the unfortunate Card’s demise. Farran immediately regretted his actions. He hadn’t meant to scream, hadn’t meant to shout at the crazy Heart, but the noise had erupted from his throat after the deathly silence. It was the only way he could comprehend what had just happened. He had barely enough time to register the change in mood when suddenly she was flying at him.
The world was a blur, and there was Arkady flying in front of him and hitting the ground within seconds. He had opened his mouth to protest – what was the canine thinking?! He may have been a higher rank, but he was still slightly smaller than Farran, had he hoped to overpower the biped? But it didn’t matter, because just as the Villa had began to scramble backwards to avoid the crazed woman the hilt of her rapier smashed into his skull. Lights popped in front of his eyes and the world suddenly tilted, spun and grew brighter before him. No, no! He swayed where he stood and collapsed onto the ground. His stomach lurched in harmony with the throbbing of his skull. His feet scrabbled helplessly against the cobblestones -he was trying, trying to get up…
Farran tried to shout for Arkady, to see if he was all right, but it choked out as a strangled moan. The moan turned to a bubbling gargle as his vision was further impeded by an cascade of liquid, drowning out light and muffling the sound to further confuse the poor Diamond. He yowled his fury and fear to whoever could hear it. Oh god he was wet and cold and what the hell was going on?
He dazedly got to his feet, something dark spluttered nearby and he unsheathed his claws, raking madly at whatever it was. It was his only weapon, his only defense. The feline pulled away and staggered drunkenly to the side, the pain in his head pounding wildly.
Ark… ark…ady!!!!

It was utterly satisfying to watch the feline crumble beneath the hilt of her blade but the horrified moans of pain that escaped him as blood began to trickle down his face was even better. This was the proper response to her presence.
She grinned, only able to admire her fallen prey for a second before the Spade's magical water crashed down around her. The King gasps in shock and she jerks backward before making a proper swing at the feline. Her attention has shifted gears and instantly bears down upon the little brat that had ruined her previous fun.
Still momentarily blinded by the deluge, it is the weapon that swings Mephit's hand around and slices blindly through the water at Arkady. In that moment, Farran's blind attack manages to catch Mephit's ankle. She jerks her foot away from the blasted feline but slips on the water-slicked cobblestones as she does. (Mephit only rolled a 5.<3)
Now is probably a great time to run.

He heard his name being whimpered out, but to tell the truth Arkady couldn't see much. His vision was swimming, and he stumbled to his paws with difficulty, unsure of when exactly he'd even fallen. His head was pounding with pain and he could barely walk. Of course, it didn't help when, moments later, the phantom pain in his spine was joined by a hot, burning sensation in his side, and he let out a yelp of pain. It only sent his head to pounding more.
The only thing that was good about the situation was then he noticed the form of their attacker lying prone on the concrete. Focusing through a haze of pain, his brain took a moment to decide what to do with the situation, but then he turned towards Farran, gritting his teeth. "RUN!" he yelled louder than he'd ever yelled in his life, and took off, paws nearly slipping in the water over the cobblestones at first, but the Coyote managed to avoid falling again.
He activated his Spade speed for a little bit, to help overcome the pounding in his head and the burning on his side, but slowed down so he wouldn't lose his companion.
Basic Magical Ability: He can run up to 20mph in sprints and 10mph for up to an hour in extended runs.

Every sound was strangely amplified and simultaneously muffled so that when Farran finally found his feet, it felt as though he were underwater. Moving slowly, unable to process what was happening, nor tell which way was up and which was down. He was in a nightmare. A horrible, horrible nightmare. The crash their attacker made as she slipped on the cobblestones slick with blood was strangely muted. He was still seeing stars as he stumbled along the alleyway calling out for his friend.
Then suddenly, his sound bubble burst and everything became unbelievably crisp and clear. It was a single word that had brought him back. A single yelp from the young Solandrian. RUN. He found himself upright and the dark form near him flailed and cursed. His eyes widened as the patter of paws echoed down the street, the canine having taken the opportunity to get the hell away from there.
Farran tripped forward into a run, claws scrabbling on the stones for purchase and loped awkwardly after his companion. His back foot caught in a broken trench on the side of the road and he tumbled face forward. The Villa tried to ignore the pain that reverberated once again through his skull and scrambled quickly to his feet, zig-zagging a bit to avoid placing weight on his sore foot. He turned his head backward to catch Mephit stirring, then shot forward as a punch of adrenaline surged through his body. Feet pounding on the street, he followed in the Spade’s wake, hoping to create as much distance between themselves and the monster as possible.

Mephit wasn't down for long.
Even as Arkady was screaming for Farran to run, Mephit was shoving herself away from the mangled corpse and scrambling to her hooves. Blue eyes narrowed into icy daggers, her rapier appeared in hand, and Mephit launched herself at the fleeing pair.
Bastard Spade was gone before she could right herself, lost in a blur of fur and blood. Weapon hissed her fury. Spade speed. Wasn't right, always got in the way of making them dead. That's why you break their legs first, and enjoy the killing once they're broken. So much for that.
Villa was still in sight though, fluffy tail vanishing around the corner of the alley as Mephit rushed after it. She hisses, cursing to herself as she sprints out into the open. Her blood covered fur was painfully obvious out in the moonlight, but Mephit paid it absolutely no thought as she rushed after her escaping targets.

He was running. Paws were hitting the pavement at twice the speed of the pounding in his head and the burning in his side. The pain and the motion all became a blur. RUN RUN RUN. Arkady couldn't think, was gasping for breath between paw steps, breathing in large gasps of the spiced air. His ears were pressed flat against his skull and his eyes were wide and scared. If he had been coherent enough, he would have been wondering why that had happened. Sure, Mephit was rumored to do horrible things to prisoners in the Hearts dungeon, but that was something else. Something completely different. She'd just gone beserk on two random Cards who she'd promised to help.
But all that was far from the Coyote's mind. All he could currently think about was running, getting away from from that thing that had once been a Court noble. Finally, he had to stop, sharp pains stabbing his side and breathing hard. He looked around to make sure Farran was still there. Surely, surely Ark had outdistanced Mephit by now...he paid no heed to the blood freely soaking his fur from the gash in his side.
