Zeus leapt at the Jack, hoping he was correct in Trott's ability to survive for a little bit without his intervention. The Jack lunged at him, throwing off his own attack just slightly. His dagger barely pierced the flesh of the Heart, and his teeth pinched skin. He snapped again, catching more than just skin. He reveled in the glorious feel of his teeth sinking into flesh. The Queen jerked his head sharply to one side, ripping away the muscle of the Jack's arm, even as he thrust his dagger for the Jack's stomach.
Zeus was rewarded with the scent of rot and decay, a sure sign he managed to get the Jack's intestines. He didn't stop to watch the creature die, however, instead leaping for the Ten as well. He wanted to finish it off as quickly as possible, especially since Trott had finally managed to get himself out of the way. At least for the moment.

Never known for his bright planning skills Trot attempted the same strategic plan that he had used before he had been rudely interrupted by the new player. Darting forward and then away he started making his way around the eight - dashing in here and then quickly away before going in at another angle. His whole scheme involved making the guy dizzy.
After all this was a game that usually worked for him. He could not even stand up when he was really dizzy and the world spun around him, much less could he attack someone.
Nipping at its tail he managed to grab the end and pulled it a little with him as he jumped quickly to the right, hoping to fell the Card as if he was chopping down a tree. Having -- through some genius stroke of luck -- managed to cause the guy to become dizzy he brought him to the ground.
Going in as Bone had taught him he pinned him, one paw at the throat, growling, watching his front legs while waiting for Bone to call him off.

The Queen grinned darkly at the injured Ten, moving quickly in to grab the creature by the throat. "It's been awhile," he growled quietly at the servant. He was going to be glad to turn this thing's face to mush now. The Lowlander threw all of his weight against the Ten shoving the creature towards the wall and forcibly slammed the Card's face against the gleaming white marble. He pulled the Card back and slammed him into it again.
A sudden burning pain slashed down his shoulder. His snarl went feral and he threw the Ten to one side, leaping at the returned Jack. His teeth went straight for the Highlander's throat. He bit down hard, grabbing the Card by the shoulders and ripping the whole front of the Card's throat out. He spat it to one side, ears back and a low growl coming out constantly that he wasn't even aware of.
His eye lit on Trott, waiting patiently atop the Eight and, amazingly, seeming to be doing a fairly good job of keeping the other Card pinned. Good thing rank strength didn't necessarily translate to physical strength. He checked on the Ten, who didn't seem to be doing too well. It would be kinder to put him out of his misery. Zeus quickly moved over to comply, calling over to Trott. "Finish him off!"

((The Cards all fall back, though very little emotion was expressed the entire time, it seems that they all suddenly lost any and all will to exist. Trott stumbles as the Card he went to finish simply flops over backward, dead as a doornail and limp as an old rag. An odd smell rises from the corpses...horrible and curdling, almost as though there was something in their blood, something awful. That scent seems...familiar, actually...almost like the one that Trott smelled around the front door when coming inside, earlier... It would be best to follow that scent if you can, it will lead out toward the Capital. Zeus knows how to drive a carriage, I'm sure, and some of the Ace Horses, though not all, can be kicked awake enough to run them down. Maybe there will be some friends there?)) ((Zeus and Trott both get 25 unassigned p each for a grand fight and Trott seems to have found: Stuffed Toy: This small, stuffed plush doll looks remarkably like the old Josiggy Queen of Hearts, Rai. Its little, plush, mis-matched hooves are precious and its tiny face has on such a serious expression that you can't help but abuse the thing with affection. When touched, it gives a small electric shock to the first person to lay hands, paws, or claws to it, almost like a static zap after shuffling across a carpet. The owner will now find that, once a week, they are able to turn an opponent into a tiny, cloth doll version of themselves for a full hour. The doll cannot be destroyed, and limbs and head cannot be removed...though the tail and ears don't seem to be as tightly attached. Still, while like this they are very soft and cuddly...as well as perfectly harmless... This spell works on Jokers and Cards ranked Jack and lower, also on any Rabbits. ))

Just as he was going to lunge forward for the finishing blow the one under him seemed to suddenly stop attacking him. Proud of his fierce skills as a hunter it took him a moment to see that it was not so much that he had been stopped from an attack but that he had actually finished the guy off.
He knew he was getting better. The guys really did not give all the credit that he was due. This just proved that he was a valuable member. See.
Sniffing through the Card's belongings he discovered an oddly shaped toy. Looking at it he glanced back over his shoulder, noticing that it seemed to looked a lot like Shin. Grabbing it he was suddenly hit by the strong urge to sneeze. Gah, what was that horrible smell.
Sneezing a couple times in a row he shook his head as if to ward off the scent. Though curiously he noticed that it seemed to be coming from the Card in front of him.
Following his nose he made his way back to the front door. "S'meth'n ov'r h'r" he called back to Bone.

"Trott, shut up," Zeus ordered flatly, his mind obviously not on his pack mate. Something. . . weird had just happened, and to suddenly have his victory stolen from him by these creepy servants served only to irritate the man. He fingered the net thoughtfully and whirled. Screw this, they were going to find the other Hellhounds.
"Come on, Trott," he snapped over his shoulder, not even checking to see what the Club had found-- not that he'd really understood anything the Card had said. He moved quickly, heading through the hallways he meticulously memorized long before they ever reached the Palace originally until he found the side entrance that led out to the stables.
The Queen moved swiftly into the building, freezing when he heard an odd, low murmuring. The Hellhound pulled out his dagger, and carefully crept down the aisle until he came upon one of the empty stalls and peeked over the edge. Wot. . . the. . snot. . . a kid?

(Just as a heads up, there is not enough time left tp pursure the avenue offered with Vaska, thus, the thread continues in a different direction.) ((The child, one of the servant's ilk, is a tiny, Highland/Corvie mix. The little Canine stands up slowly, stares the two men down, and points toward the Capital. When pressed, he does no more than stare blankly and point again. "They'rrrrrreeeee all dyiiiiiiing out theeeereeeee...." He hisses quietly, eyes rolling back in his head as he flops limply over, unconscious. That....that has the potential to be highly unfortunate, seeing as Zeus's crew was out in the Capital, last he heard from them. Damn! Might be time to get to them! There are Aces in the stables, hurry!)) (Your goal is to move to this thread ---> decadentsuits.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=thebazaar&action=display&thread=7358and locate Obidiah. Once you have found him, you should be able to continue looking for the other Hellhounds.) ~Nathalia

Zeus frowned fiercely at the strange, creepy child, but the warning-- or whatever it was-- was too dire to ignore. He left the child where it was. After the attack they had just endured, he wasn't going to risk bringing any servant with him. It took him a few minutes to locate the harnesses and gear for the Ace horses, but he was well adept at bullying things into doing what he wanted. With snarls and backhands, he got the horses in order, then forcibly hitched them up to the carriage near the entrance. It was a rather grand thing, for all that he simply chose the nearest thing on hand.
"Trott," he snarled loudly at his pack mate. "Get in the carriage now! We're going!" He waited just long enough for the Club to get in, then sent the Aces down the road at a run. He wasn't worried about Obadiah; that rotter could take care of himself. He was worried about the others in his pack, and his frown never eased as he kept the Aces at a fast pace back to the Capital.
