Arkady nodded, conceding the point. He didn't really want to argue with Conall...but the other boy was just being a real stick-in-the-mud right now. Unfortunately, Cas had noticed them bickering. He flushed a bit and stared at his drink as if it were suddenly the most fascinating thing in the world. "I said sorry," he mumbled, tail drooping. Being scolded by Cas somehow felt even worse than when it was his Mom doing it.
So, of course, he was more than glad to talk about something else. He shrugged. "Well, I'd feel gloomy if I had to live here," he said, looking around briefly at the other patrons of the bar. And despite the fact that he could respect the Torquehelm culture, he would certainly never want to truly be a part of it. There was just too much darkness and heaviness in the air. Unless Castiel was around all the time to make everything seem more cheerful (which Ark really wouldn't mind, to be honest), it would get him down all the time to be in a place like this. Really, he wasn't too surprised the residents called the place cursed.
But...the curse had only been explained to him in rather vague terms before. The Coyote shrugged, looking back at Castiel. "I...don't really know. I guess it's just...it's something spiritual, almost." He frowned, wishing he had a better answer. But he really didn't know anything about it. He wasn't close friends with any Torques...he turned to look at Conall. The other boy seemed to know something about this place, so maybe he knew about the curse?

Conall did his best not to pout as he was scolded. Fine he would just sit there and listen to the rather depressing music and conversation. He had no intention of actually participating unless he was prodded to do so. He took a long drink of water.
Castiel shrugged. It was gloomy, but even on the rainiest day there was a bit of hope right? Just because it was dark outside didn't mean everyone had to be so sad. It was kind of charming in a rather strange way, wasn't it? She rested her chin on her hands for a few moments as she stared at the woman singing.
"Spiritual...? That could explain a few things. Especially why no one can explain it properly. Even Dad can't really explain it, but I don't know if she was ever really a "proper" Torquehelm." She turned back to Arkady. "We probably should get going soon. We'll have a long day tomorrow."

Apparentl Conall was too busy pouting to join the conversation and help Ark out with any insights into the curse. Well, fine then. The Coyote frowned and turned back to Castiel instead. She seemed to be considering his words, and if she'd mentioned any of her thoughts he would have been awed by her insistent optimism. Arkady sometimes wished he had as easy a time seeing the bright side of things as she did.
He nodded. Despite the fact the Curse was something all Torquehelms knew about instinctively, it seemed very hard to get a straight explanation out of any of them regarding it. Ark sort of understood. There were some things that one knew so innately that one had a hard time actually putting it into words. He turned to look thoughtfully at the woman who was still singing her haunting, sad songs, but turned around when he felt Cas looking at him.
"Ah...oh. Well...I guess we should," he said, though he felt a strange reluctance to leave this place. He took another few sips of his drink, at least wanting to finish it before they left. Then again once they got back to the hotel he'd probably be tired, and Conall would certainly be happier if they left.

Castiel finished drink in one quick gulp, setting the glass down as the singer finished her piece. "I'll make it up to you Akrady," she said quietly before slipping out of the booth and leaving the money on the table. She was actually starting to feel tired again, and her back was slowly reminding her of the earlier run in in Tulgey. Bed seemed to be a better and better option.
Conall's ears pulled back at Castiel's half whispered comment. What did she mean by that? He could feel the fur on the back of his neck standing up as he tightly gripped his glass. He just needed to go to bed and try to sleep. Everything would be better after he properly rested. He half muttered an apology after he finished his water and slipped out of his seat.
At least they had managed to get out of the club with little hassle. All they needed that night was someone to point out that they were underaged.

Arkady's eyes widened a bit at the comment, and he felt he should say something, but he had no idea what. He didn't dare glance at Conall, sure that he had heard it, too. And what had Cas meant by such a comment? For once, Ark's imagination was quick to provide answers...though nothing very plausible and certainly nothing that was appropriate just between two friends. Which was all Cas and he were, he firmly reminded himself.
The walk back to the Inn was rather quiet, and Ark spent it in nervous contemplation. It wasn't until they were climbing the stairs to their room that it finally occurred to him just how tired he was. It had been such a very long day, and Ark's little nap earlier hadn't been nearly enough to recover fully. When they got into the room he noticed the hotel staff had changed the bed sheets. That was good...because it meant that even if Conall had been on the bed earlier (which Arkady wasn't sure if he had or not) Cas had nothing to fear from it now.
"Castiel gets the bed," he mumbled sleepily, looking for a corner of the floor to curl up in. He just needed a blanket and he could sleep anywhere.

The walk was tense, though Castiel hardly seemed to notice as she cheerfully strolled along. Conall was trailing behind per usual, taking note of the various people who were closing up shop for the evening. At least, it seemed to be evening. He honestly couldn't tell anything in this dreary place.
Castiel had already made a beeline towards the sofa when Arkady announced that she was supposed to be claiming the bed. She shook her head for a moment before flopping down on the squishy sofa, which creaked in protest. "Nope! I claim the Sofa. Conall and you can share the bed."
She curled up where she was and almost instantly fell asleep.
Conall was about to make a sound of protest when the Castiel had already shut her eyes. He gave a small sigh and brushed his fingers through his scraggly mane. He offered Arkady the extra blankets that were left by the maids.

Arkady whimpered in surprised protest. "But Cas--" He frowned and blinked sadly when the girl just...curled up and fell asleep on the sofa before he could get the words out. Man, that didn't seem right...he hadn't even been hurt. And her back was hurt, and wasn't it bad for Humans to sleep on sofas? Wouldn't it just make her back hurt more?
Besides, he wasn't sure how comfortable he was with the idea of sharing with Conall...not only was the other boy's fur greasy, but he had those scythes sticking out of his back and if he rolled over in the night, Ark could wake up with something sharp through his side. He looked at Conall. "You can have the bed, Conall," he said in an undertone, and grabbed one of the blankets in his mouth, taking it over to a spot on the floor and setting it down before circling inside it a couple times and curling up. Here was how he'd sleep. He could already feel exhaustion claiming him as he closed his eyes and relaxed his paws.

Conall was left standing awkwardly for a moment, clutching one of the left over blankets. He understood why no one wanted to share a bed with him, considering the deadly implements on his back. He still felt a bit off by Arkady's response.
With a small dismissive shrug he curled up on top of the bed sheets, throwing the blanket over himself and trying to sleep. It was a fruitless night of trying to avoid aggravating his nose and aggravating his back. By the time he actually drifted off to sleep it was only a few hours before proper morning. Of course it was difficult to tell with the gloomy region's lack of light.
Castiel stirred in the morning hours. Her back was the only thing that prevented her from sleeping late. And really that was only because she rolled onto it, jolting herself awake. She rolled off the sofa and wandered straight to the bathroom to clean herself up before getting either of the boys.

Arkady slept like a log. Perfectly and without dreams the whole night. At least, he couldn't really remember any of his dreams. But when he had a sister like Laika, who often woke up screaming in the middle of the night, he knew that having unremarkable, unmemorable dreams was vastly preferable to the alternative. Arkady began to stir a minute or so after Cas got up, ears twitching and nose giving a subconscious sniff as he slowly regained consciousness. His tail gave a brief wag as he yawned, eyes blinking sleepily for a moment after.
He looked around the room, noting that the couch was empty and the bathroom door was closed. But Conall must have still been asleep. He stood up and trotted over to the bed to peek in on the boy. Was he actually asleep for once? He seemed to be, and so the last thing Ark wanted to do was disturb him. He hesitated a moment, then walked over to the bathroom door and sat there, waiting patiently for Castiel to come out. He could have just asked her what she wanted for breakfast, but he didn't want to bother her while she was washing up.

Castiel came out of the bathroom toweling her face dry as she did so. She paused before bumping into her companion. "Good morning!" she said cheerfully to the canine. Then she realized that Conall still wasn't out of bed. She bit her lower lip and stood to the side to give Arkady access to the bathroom. "I'm going to go downstairs for breakfast. I think we should get Conall sleep for a little longer."
Once everything was agreed to the freshly dressed girl would make her way down the stairs. before ordering her own breakfast she arranged for a carriage. When that was said and done she took a seat and order a large hearty breakfast for herself. Nothing was better than breakfast with everything. Even if it wasn't the best cooking she had had, it was still good, and she enjoyed a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice while waiting for the Solandrian to join her.
Conall was sound asleep, and showed no signs of stirring. A nice puddle had formed during the night, and would probably make the Heart terribly grumpy when he woke up. Though he would be in far better spirits than he had been.
