Conall was silent as they journeyed back to the inn. The expression his face was brooding as he thought about how the world insisted on screwing him. No matter how unfair things were now, they would only get worse as he grew, he was certian.
When they arrived back at the room Castiel had slipped out of the bathroom and had flopped on the bed with her book. She didn't remember falling asleep on the bed, but she must have crawled up there at some point right? Might as well stay comfortable on it.
When the door opened she perked, the smell of food drifting in. Ooooh? What had they managed to get? "Hi guys! What did you snag for dinner? It smells better than the food downstairs...."
Conall set the bags down on the table before speaking. He looked over to Castiel and forced a faint smile. "Curry."
Castiel noticed the bit of dried blood on the boy's nose. "Are you all right...?" she asked after a moment. One of her eyebrows arched as she looked at the pair. Something seemed off with the air. "Did something happen while you were out?"

The walk back was very awkward, and Arkady kept sneaking glances at Conall, as if worried he'd see something in the other boy's gaze that meant the sure end of their friendship. The silence he could live with, but at least he had the excuse of having to carry the bag of food in his mouth, so he couldn't say anything even if he had anything else to say. And he really didn't. What would he say, anyway? 'Sorry'? For what? He wasn't sorry for having feelings for Castiel. She was a wonderful young woman in every way, and Conall must obviously see that too. He also wasn't sorry that his 'secret' was out, since Conall himself had asked about it.
When they got back to the room, Ark's tail began waving against his will as soon as he heard Castiel's voice. She was up! He set down the bag he was holding on the table as well. "We got several different kinds," he said cheerfully, and then glanced back at Conall as Cas said something about...oh. Right. He'd nearly forgotten about the accident with all the weird awkwardness. "Conall...fell. His nose got broken, but some nice Torquehelms helped him," Ark responded, frowning over at the other boy. He would ask how he was feeling but...he felt like their previous not-conversation had erected a wall between them, somehow.

Castiel let out a surprised and worried sound at the news that Conall had broke his nose. Was he really going to be okay? He looked terribly frustrated and rather tired--even more than usual. "Oi! Are you really going to be okay," she said as she got off the bed to get a closer look at the boy. It looked like he was already bruising a bit.
"I'm fine, honestly," he said as he edge away a bit. Bags. Food. He'd focus on that. He unwrapped the larger containers of food from the bags, being careful not to muck up the actual containers. He didn't want to have any allergic reactions going on.
Castiel still gave the boy a worried glance. She really hoped he would be fine. She sighed a bit as she looked to the food. That was quite a bit. She sniffed. Oooh something had beef in it. She bit her lips as she eyed the containers. She picked up the one that smelled the best popping it open to reveal the beef curry. "Would you mind if I had this one?" She looked to both of the boys with a wide eyed and hopefully expression.
Of course Conall caved, even if he preferred beef. "That's fine by me. I can always split the chicken and vegetables with Arkady."

Arkady felt a mix of relief that Cas asked (since the words were stuck on his tongue but he was worried about Conall) and a bit of what he now realized was probably jealousy at the fact she was so concerned about him. He shook his head. What was coming over him? He wished he could let go of the stupid crush. Despite what Conall thought about him being able to act on his feelings, Ark didn't think he had a chance with her. And even if he did, he was too painfully shy to ask.
Conall was still acting weird, and Ark felt a bit bad. He smiled at Cas as she claimed the beef one. He still didn't feel very hungry, though he couldn't help that he thought Cas's expression was painfully cute. He nodded quickly. "Of course, have whatever one you want." There was no way he could say no to those puppy-dog eyes. No matter if the girl was born in Human form, she still had a far cuter pleading face than he did.
He pulled out a plate that they'd gotten and some napkins, hoping the curry was not going to be overly spicy. Though he might like it anyway, even if it wasn't what he was used to. He used his paws to carefully hold the container of the chicken curry and get a bit onto his plate before handing the rest back to Conall. He wanted to say something to the boy, but the words still stuck in his throat. He quickly turned to his food, and then even more quickly to Castiel, watching for her reaction. "Is it good?"

Castiel was a bit of a garbage disposal when she was hungry and it came to food. She didn't bother to dirty a plate, grabbing just a fork and opening the curry container. She poked at the meat for a few moments before shoveling a bit up to try.
If she had a tail it would have been wagging. "Fantastic," she said after swallowing. She would have to be careful about her manners, when she was this hungry sometimes she got a little lost and tended to ignore everything but the food.
Conall scooped out some chicken when it was offered to him. Silently staring at the plate in front of him. Was he really hungry now after all of that? He eyed the food. It did kind of look good. With a small sigh he took a bite of it, his nose was still sore and the taste seemed... off. Wonderful. He grabbed some almond rice and quietly brooded to himself.

Arkady's tail began wagging for Castiel at her positive reaction to the food. They'd done well, then! He'd been a little worried at first, but that bright smile was all the indication he needed to put his heart at rest about it. Sadly, his stomach wasn't at rest yet. He took a little rice and delayed the inevitable by going to get a glass of water. "Do you want any water?" he asked, leaving the question open-ended enough that he could also be asking Conall. He waited a moment to hear the answers before going to get the glasses of water.
He knew he was stalling, but as his back was to the other two he allowed himself a few deep breaths. Ark wanted to eat. His stomach was still just tying itself in knots over all the tension. Why did he have to be tense? Why did Conall have to ask stupid questions? He shook his head. There he went, blaming it on his friend again. The Coyote came back into the main room with water, and then finally went to take a small bite of his food. Since he only had his animal form, silverware was all but impossible. So really, Cas didn't have to worry about table manners in front of him. His tail started thumping again as he chewed. It was a bit spicy but it was actually really good.

Both Castiel and Conall accepted the offer of water. Castiel gratefully accepted it after completely finishing off the beef curry. It was hot, but it wasn't as nearly as bad as some of the dishes she had convinced the staff to make for her out of plain curiosity.
She licked her lips after completely downing the glass of water. She eyed the rest of the food. She was still a bit hungry, but she should probably leave some food for the boys. They were eating slowly and all.
The yarrow eyed some of the rice, scooping a bit out onto a plate.
Conall was slowly poking at his food. Still upset over the entire ordeal. He shouldn't asked the stupid question when he was already having such a shitty day. Lamely he poked at the chicken on his plate. It probably would have tasted better if his nose wasn't broken. Why had they gone on this stupid adventure in the first place.
"Are we going to leave tomorrow?" he finally asked before popping the final piece of chicken that was on his plate into his mouth.
"Uh.... I guess? I mean we were supposed to stay here for a little while but with all the stuff that's been happening I guess we could. Unless you two have objections we can leave tomorrow."

Arkady was rather surprised when he looked up and...Castiel had completely finished her food already. Wow, good thing they'd gotten so much of it, then. He pushed what was left of the chicken curry that he and Conall hadn't dished up towards her with his nose. He was actually feeling a little better now that he was eating, and his stomach actually seemed to be calming down a bit at the addition of food. He still continued to eat a bit slowly, but he finished a bit of the meal before Conall spoke...sounding rather grumpy.
Ark winced, but frowned at Conall's tone. He didn't have to be so rude. "It has been rather...eventful," Ark offered meekly, drinking a bit of water. "I'm fine with whatever you guys want." It almost went without saying. Arkady wasn't exactly prone to making his own decisions on most things, and just kind of followed other Cards and tried to warn them against doing anything too dangerous. Of course, if there was a disagreement, he'd take Castiel's side, but it seemed that she was amenable to leaving early. Though he half wondered how she was going to explain her injury to her mother, but he'd leave that to her. She did have the cutest innocent look she could use to her advantage, though sometimes parents developed an immunity to that.

Castiel shifted awkwardly. She could tell that Conall was upset, and she couldn't quite place why. He had been a little upset over the events in the Wood but now he was just being... grumpy. Maybe he needed to sleep? That could be it, and he never really was able to nap properly or get good sleep.
"Well, we can stay for a day just so we can get our stories straight. I can't imagine Dad's going to be thrilled about us coming home battered. I think coming up with a valid excuse and exploring Torquehelm a bit might be a good idea." She looked at both boys with a hopeful expression.
Conall drooped, the bird on his shoulder seemed to slump a bit as well. She made a valid point even if he didn't like it. "Fine," he muttered before taking a sip of water. He should probably just suck everything up and finish the meal.
Castiel looked a little disappointed before she picked up the left over chicken and dished some out on top of her rice. Food made things better, clearly.

"Well...that's true," Arkady agreed, not pointing out that they could just make something up during the carriage ride home. Of course, he wouldn't want to be the one charged with making anything up. Again, he'd leave that to the more creative types. When he was caught at something, he'd generally just try to make his face look as innocent as possible...or just, tell the truth. But in this case, he could see that wasn't really an option. They'd done something actually dangerous and he cringed to think of all the shouting there'd be...or, even worse, they might consider him a bad influence on Castiel, or she on him, and they'd be forbidden from being friends anymore.
That would really suck. He doubted it would come to that, but part of him was worried about it. Besides...as long as they didn't go into Tulgey again and Conall watched where he was walking, there shouldn't be any other unfortunate incidents. So, they'd have an extra day of harmless exploring. Sure, Torquehelm wasn't exactly his first choice as far as cool places to be went...but it wasn't so bad if you had a little bright spot of sunshine to brighten up the gloom. Which Cas really was.
Though right now she seemed sad...because Conall was being annoying and moping. That was no good. Ark searched his mind for something else to talk about to lift the mood again. He lapped a little more water. "So uh...Conall and I made a new friend while we were out! He was a Penguin. One of those birds that lives in the cold and swims instead of flies." Arkady hoped this was something interesting to talk about. He was so bad at this.
