The Ace did not just talk down to her?! Trix gave the Ace a look so intense that it could kill but took a deep breath and mentally counted down from 10. She was doing everything in her power to not have an outburst and startle the man she had been talking to.
Though, after Gaurin's small spazz, it was rather obvious the man was just a touch too insane to really respond to any of it. Probably for the best, though she still held her tongue. The last thing she wanted was for him to have a fit in such close proximity to her.
She wouldn't speak to it, wouldn't admit how right the damn Ace was. It was still fucking wrong that it was making coherent sentences and acting like it was a person, no less a person in charge. Eurgh. Between moving corpses and Aces in Charge, Trix was suddenly quite certain that the world really was falling to pieces.
She was with Gaurin on all of this. She didn't care, didn't want explanations, she just wanted to get the hell out of there and back to the group. She returned Gaurin's look with a frown and a curt nod before turning back to the group.
"Alright. So this is your last chance -- either help or don't. We've got work to do and it's no skin off of our backs if you don't come along." Really, it'd probably be for the best. Like they really needed to bring a Josiggy along?
Trix would give them until the moment that Gaurin reached the edge of the Plaza to answer her and, if they didn't, she would promptly walk away without them. If they chose to follow, she'd answer questions and do her best to control the masses. If not. Again, not her problem.

The Ace pointedly ignored the daggers the Lowland canine was giving him. He felt the corner of his beak twitching a couple times. It was hard to believe that someone in her position – readily prejudiced against by most of the realm – had room in her heart to level hatred against him. It was almost funny. Almost. But there was a glint in her eyes, too, a shifting of her shoulders that suggested something else. Defensive. Well, he’d at least said his piece.
He turned to the others to gather their input, and nodded slowly as each spoke their thoughts.
I know of the conflict – it’s hard to miss something like that. Just, an all-out war? On the sly? Seems unlikely, you know?
If he’d been alone, Emery would have poured over any books he could find on the Jossigy/Lowland conflict. Frankly, he was baffled by this turn of events. It was possible, of course, that there could have been an outbreak of violence – something had clearly happened in this square, but it still didn’t explain anything else. What in suits’ name was going on?
Orin is right. We just don’t know enough. For all we know, they could be lying. But we’re not going to find out if we hang around here.
The Villa/Highlander looked at each of them in turn. You all have great points – we should probably go with them, but we need to keep an eye out. There’s no telling how many people are going to be with this “Cale”, or what their plans are. I don’t want to put any of us in danger, but we’re not going to solve this completely on our own. That Gaurin seems a bit twitchy – we need to mind what we say and be prepared to run should anything go wrong.
With their agreement, Emery would take a step back and address the two Lowlanders.
All right, we’ll go with you, if you’ll have us.
Of course, he'd conveniently agreed to join their party without any promises of help. But, no need to mention that, right?

(( Gaurin snorted at the group, and put up his hands in a 'fine, whatever' gesture. "Trix." He muttered, while the other group of nut-jobs converged. "They're loony as shit, if they follow, we'll just ditch 'em when we get t'Cale. He'll send 'em through with the other civilians. Sorry t'get you mixed up in all this bullshit, m'lady." He glanced at their backs and gave her a small grin, dropping his voice lower. "First chance I get though...dibs on puntin' that little chit, Ace." He grinned, shaking his head to show he was only half-joking before straightening back up to wait for what the little group would say. The Ace kept talking. Gaurin sighed, picking his way through the mess of the dead and trying to avoid touching any in case the feckin' moved again. "Yes, there's a bloody war. Do you believe this mess ordo you want me to round up the pile of Lowland and half-blood mixed kids heads we found in a half-burned shoppe earlier?" He snarled. "Of course you don't feckin' know! Why the feck would anyone tell you?Not like we knew either, the Range contacted us four days ago saying they was bein' slaughtered! When was th' last time you 'eard of a planned war, stupic chit!" He hissed. Put-down non-withstanding, that was at least enough of a correct statement. The Barber finally seemed to snap back into focus. "War's en't planned, Emery." He muttered, gingerly tapping the Highland mix's beak. "S'why Emily said she moved t' f'he Capital in f'he first place...f'ought it'd be...safer." He mumbled. "Josiggy've always 'ad a bit of a streak in 'em...bit like Morganberry. Tend t'jump on a situation, like. I'm with this lady 'ere." He gestured to the Selkie. "...S'move out so I can find someone to answer t'f'his..." Curling his lip again as Gaurin and Trix moved off further, blood rising behind his eyes, he watched his little group come to a consensus...and moved off with them. His gaze wandered to Karrock. Stopping suddenly, he pointed him out. "You in f'he back. You strike me as a worthless fighter an' I'm not dealin' wiff handin' your carcass over t'yer cryin' Mum when we're done. You, Bull, keep 'n eye on 'im, y're f'he only one 'e listens to. I unner'stan' your 'issue', but leave this pair be until we see anyfin' what tells us f;hey been killin' your kind. You touch 'em...I kill you." He watched the Selkie Feline. "Don't know what kinda battler you are, miss... But, if your show in f'he shoppe was anyfin', I'd prefer you stayed wiff f'he Bull too. He's a lump of a man, but he'll do in a pinch. Emery. Up front wit' me." Stalking off after the Lowland pair, tail bristling with anger, he hissed through his teeth. "M'comin', you rat-bastard! N'when I find you...m'gonna make you wish you'd never been born!" Gaurin skirted around the edge of a building out of the line of the dead, and pointed to an orange glow over the rooftops. "That right there, we're nearly to it. Just a few more corners, right?" He gave Trix a quick grin, and pushed ahead. A few more corners was right. The sight of a bloody plaza, a dead Lowland guard, decapitated, a wobbling Lowland Weasel trying to stand, and a Human man, trying to fight a losing battle against a Human woman...who was laughing madly. "Cale! Shit, she's found 'im." Gaurin hissed, pulling the group back as far as he could to the shadows. "I'll tell y'once, got me? Tha's Resta, she'll kill y'soon as look at'yeh. Mad as a Corvie's lab pet. Whoever's in...come wit' me." So saying, he ducked off into the shadows, around the back to try to attack.))
