Dafina was trembling, the sight of Brighid's death bringing back the all too fresh death of her mother. What was going on? She had never seen or heard anything like this. She almost felt as though she was shutting down a little, but then, she thought of her father. He had charged down a strange tunnel without fear to protect them. And she was sitting here quivering like a tree in the wind. Dafina straightened up, smoothing the tension along her back a little, and looked around to assess the situation.
Just as she was starting to calm down the odd door that had burst open only moments before bonged again, and then she heard footsteps. . . "DAD!" She yelled, hoping he would hear to come and protect them.
Anubis was already several steps down into the pitch black tunnel. He found himself straining his eyes, searching for any sort of light, or movement in the dark. The Jack cursed himself inwardly, wishing he had grabbed a candle. At the edges of his hearing he thought he had heard the wind behind him, but he wasn't about to let himself get distracted, and he continued down the tunnel. At least he was buying them time. .

Shelby closed his eyes tightly, no longer caring if the strange Rabbit answered his question or not. He just didn't want to be here anymore, and he -didn't- want to see anyone explode! He forced his ears back along his head, backing up a bit away from Brighid's screaming. The sound as something burst out of her body was horrifying and nauseating and Shelby shuddered, backing into a hat rack that clattered against the wall and getting all tripped up over it, landing on his side hard on the ground. He lay there for a moment, still clutching his weapon and afraid to look.
He heard some sort of distant bell noise, and trembled, finally opening his eyes, very carefully--and shrieking as he saw a CARD. That...how did that get here? "WHAT IS THAT?" he whimpered, staring wide-eyed at the monstrosity and pointing his weapon at it. "Don't come any closer!" He felt a surge of almost maniacal amusement come out on top of the fear. Had this thing been what came out of the Torque? No wonder she'd been insane toward the end!

(( A small, dark whirlwind suddenly whips up around the newborn Card whipping it in frenzied circles and then sucking it into the floor and out of sight, just like Alicia before. A voice hisses from the little, dark entrance in the back...the sound of violins fading, though this time the voice is central and does not echo about. "Don't like peopplllle telling me what I sssshould do with my Warren!" Its hiss slowly escalates into a yell as something rushed up the stairs, scattering the Rabbits near it as it bursts through, yelling.
A Torquehelm Jack, eyes wide and rimmed with some form of madness, bursts inside, staggering, clutching the walls, and hissing with rage and determination. "My Warren, my rules, my Does!" He screeched, teeth bared in anger and obvious insane fear as little bits of swirling black mist clung to its form. There does not appear to be any binding on the creature as it swivels its head drunkenly around to stare at those present.
"You...are not- Where is the challenger?" He asks, voice becoming quiet again when seeming to realize that he is surrounded by women and Leverets. "Servants and beauties...?" The gaze lingers on the Josiggy mix, a smile forming as he tilts his head to either side, a smile splitting the crazed features. "A pretty maiden has appeared for her Master. What is your name, beauty?" He asks, giving her a sweeping bow, even as his long legs tremble, and looking eagerly about at the others, hope creeping into his voice. "The, um, the challenger has run off? Perhaps then...we...can have tea?"))~Nathalia

Several things happened all at once. The Troquehelm Doe’s prolonged death was hideous to watch, twitching to stillness as the creature that had killed her spilled out into the world; it wasn’t a rabbit. The quiet leveret—the Lowland mix—was near enough to be hit with the spray of bodily fluid that resulted, and suddenly changed. Beyond the physical difference, Maeve wasn’t sure of the extent of the change, couldn’t focus enough to inquiry because that wasn’t a rabbit and it raised all sorts of questions concerning the other creatures that had burst out and looked like rabbits, but in all possibility were not, and just as quick as it had entered the world the creature was being swallowed up by that unexplainable whirlwind that had already caused so much trouble. There was no time to digest what was happening, to come to terms with it, because then a Jack that was most definitely not Anubis burst out from the stairwell, and turned its attention to them. Maeve trembled.
She nervously flicked her eyes over his form, and hoped he didn’t notice the assessment. Torquehelm, but no binding. In any other circumstance, she would have pointed out the lack of binding as cause for his behavior, but the black mist clinging to his form suggested something else. Something far more sinister.
He was dangerous, certainly, but perhaps if they could keep him happy they would live a little longer. Long enough for Anubis to find his way back to them, perhaps, or for another means of escape to present itself.
Maeve instigated herself in his line-of-sight, trying to divert his attention from the others if nothing else. “Tea would be lovely, Sir. Is there any way I can assist you? My name is Maeve, Sir.” Her voice only wavered slightly.

Shelby blanched when a whirlwind came out of the ground to suck the Card away...just like it had to Alicia, before. He was quiet, trying to process...and he was honestly not sure how to feel. Relieved, that there was no longer a Card in their midst? Resentful, that others were able to escape this nightmare? There was no time to sort out the appropriate response as something large -burst- into the room, and Shelby was forced to back out of the way. He stared up at the Jack, eyes wide.
He changed his mind. He wanted the Card back, now.
Shelby quickly hid the dagger once again under himself, breathing hard, but put on his best submissive face and bowed a little before the Jack. "W-whatever you want, Sir," he added to what Maeve had said. By the White Rabbit, could this day get any crazier? At least the maniacal Jack didn't seem to want to hurt them...for once, Shelby was glad to be a Leveret, so often overlooked and considered no true threat. But where was Anubis? It seemed the other Jack had went the wrong way after all!

She popped her head back behind the Madame once more, not wanting to look at the horrible monstrosity that was more wrong in it's appearance then she had been. She heard the whirlwind, but didn't look to see the card disappear. And then there was a rush of activity and the voice again, only louder and more stable. She lowered herself to the floor and put her paws up to her ears and curled up a little. There was too much going on and she wanted nothing to do with it.
She took a few moments to get herself back in order.. well, enough to finally rise up off the floor and peer around the doe she had taken quite a liking to hiding behind. The card was very definitely gone, and in it's wake there was.... a Jack? That wasn't how they were supposed to look.... right? No, it seemed wrong and she almost regretted peeking around to see him.
He wanted to have .... tea? She blinked a few times before picking her head up more to get a better look at him. What had happened to him? Certainly he hadn't been born like this, right?

Gah! That wasn't normal at all! It was trembling and insane.. not like the refined Majesty of the other Torquehelm Jack. She'd leaned back into the Midranger's fur when it hulked toward her.
She watched his sweeping, shaky bow, her head all but turning on its side as she stared up with curiosity at the creature. The Jack was asking her name. Name? His painfully wide smile unnerved her.. but…
Well, she had her pride.
"I… am the Madame… Banvyne." The name came literally off the tip of her tongue, an amalgamation of pleasant sounds to her ear that held a touch of… something that delighted her. An edge to it, like that of a cruel blade? What a silly analogy, she'd think to herself. She smiled with more confidence, repeating herself. "Yes. I am Madame Banvyne. It is a pleasure to meet you." She dipped her head politely to the uneasy form.
A leveret spoke up nearby, and her face screwed up with immediate displeasure. Talking out of turn… the whole lot of them were hopeless! She shot a angry, glaring glance in that general direction, fur bristling.
No.. no that wouldn't do at all. She was a Doe, and she was being addressed by a Jack. His intentions as unclear.. but that didn't change her place, at least for now. Besides… his psychotic charm was almost endearing.
"I'm sure the Does would -love- some tea. Isn't that right, dear thing?" She glanced behind her at the frightened, winged creature.
((I'll get responses for the rest of my buns written up by late evening, I hope. I have to run to class soon DX))

Anubis was almost starting to get annoyed. Since the odd feeling at the beginning of the tunnel he hadn't honestly had any sign that anything was even in here. A few times he waved the blade in his hand before him, making sure there was nothing in the dark that was trying to hide from him. He growled lowly at his frustration and finally, spoke into the darkness.
"Come out already you wretch!"
He put out his free hand to brush along the wall to keep himself steady. It was odd how a darkness this thick could almost seem to rob you of your balance when you couldn't see where you were going. If he didn't run into something soon he was half convinced to turn back around and march right out of this blasted hole and just bust down the front door to get everyone out. He trailed his fingers lightly along the wall and continued on.
The Doe shook her head and stood, surprised, and relieved, when the Card was suddenly whisked off somewhere. Hopefully, the Card hadn't noticed its company before it had disappeared. It wouldn't do to get out of this situation only to find her Warren and others being hunted down by Cards afterward.
She watched in mild shock as a rather poor excuse for a Jack came stumbling out of the new tunnel. Her hindquarters trembled and she bumped them lightly against Aleah unconsciously, the physical touch calming her nerves. The Doe wished she could be more helpful, but the Jack seemed to have eyes only for the . . . for the other Does.
She refused to let herself think about how they had been 'born'. They hadn't chosen that fate, she was sure. And she couldn't blame the death of her mother and part of her father's Warren on the two strangers. Her ears perked and stayed alert to how she could help. She honestly still thought like a leveret the majority of the time, and would probably be quite happy to go fetch something, anything, to remove herself from this situation for only a moment.
Briefly, she wondered, would they be stuck here with this Jack forever? And. . . where was Father?

((The Jack swiveled his head towards the Josiggy Leveret and his eyes widened slightly at the sight of her tail...he seems to have missed it before. "Pretty thing...Maeve? I...um...please?" He said, shoulders rolling forward in what looked like relief. "Kitchen's...down to the right." He says with a gesture, still staring at her tail, directing them to what had originally looked like a dirty wall out in the hallway beyond the Leveret's quarters...upon closer inspection it's a door covered by old sacking. The door is open and there is a kitchen there...it's a bit dirty, scuffed, and smells a little moldy...but at least the tea should be ok. Right?
Before watching the Leverets scurry away, he gave the odd little White-based one a wall-eyed stare...as though he didn't fully recognize he was there. Then, passed onto the Does. "Oh....ohhhh, lovely." He whispered, gazing over all of them and reaching out a quivering hand to lightly attempt to brush the Josiggy mix's mane. "Banvyne? Oohhhh, yes, I like that, and you." He murmured, gazing behind her, eyes nearly popping. "Who are you? Mmmm...Torque lovely." He murmured, sitting back and looking thrilled. "Does, Does again, yes. Ladies, please. Follow me..., um, please."
He led them toward the sitting room, not seeming aware of how ruined it happens to be.
Anubis could hear small amounts of noise coming from back where he left his daughter...it doesn't sound...normal.))

Maeve turned to Shelby the moment they had been left alone, “Shelby. I have a plan, but if it doesn’t work, we’re dead. We’re probably dead already; his mind is gone, and all it will take is one wrong word, gesture, the tiniest breath of air, to set him off. We have one chance to get the Does, and ourselves, out of this alive.”
She put the kettle on, quivering with repressed nerves, and cast an eye around the room speculatively. If it was stored in the logical place--ah, yes, there it was--opium. Processed into a powder, and very popular with the Does and to a lesser extent their male counterparts in small doses to create a relaxing evening. Mixed into a strong tea, and it was untraceable. Mix in enough, and the effects would render an individual unconscious.
She held the jar up triumphantly, “We’re going to drug the tea.”
“It’ll have to be the whole pot, of course,” Maeve frowned, thinking of the Does, “But I’m fairly certain I’ll be able to warn them to stay clear.” Because she suddenly knew that she had the perfect way to alert them--her ability, which she hadn’t even realized she’d had until that exact moment--she would warn them telepathically not to drink the tea, and all they had to do was wait for the Jack to succumb to the drug.
“Are you…well?” Maeve directed this question at the poor leveret that had been hit with the--gunk. “It would be a help if you could find some biscuits, or pastry, to go along with this. A nice proper sit-down for the gentlemen.” Her smile wasn’t entirely pleasant, but she hoped the other leveret knew it wasn’t directed at her.
