Once the three minutes had passed, and the pain began to dull when a whole new turmoil began inside his head. Maraisa, aggressive and possessive as she was, was none to happy with her new 'house guest' and what he'd done to their master, and she was quite intent on showing the big ugly brute just what she thought of that. For a few moments the Weasel/Rat simply laid on the ground, coughing a bit as he tried to catch his breath and slow his heart rate down a bit ... Maraisa would handle this... right?
Wrong.
The demon charged the glass beast, a screech of fury resounding in his head as slashed at the invader with her claws. She sent of volley of slashes his way, but it had little to no effect on the other creature.... who turned and lashed out at her in turn. It swung it's head, knocking her over and moved in for another attack that brought a screech of agony to his mind.
Morpheus clutched at his head, curling into the fetal position as he wrapped his tail around himself, there was nothing he could do to stop any of it and it was just as frustrating as it was depressing. It also made him completely oblivious to everything going on around him still.
Stop! Leave her be! Maraisa.... hide!
Nothing had ever been able to hurt her before.... what should he do? What could he do? He felt so very helpless and he'd never quite wanted his father's presence more then he did at that moment. Finistris would know, right? He could fix it, he had to be able to fix it! Oh if only they were Clubs and he could send the information over, things would be so much easier right now.

Menefer looked at Cale as he sat there next to the child, he just had to wait for her to do something say something so that things could progress more. He noted that the child seemed to be still asleep, and it may just be best to leave her like that until she woke so he could help her out and so they could get out of this strange place. He didn't really know what was going on, but he was quite astonished that the newborn was still asleep from all the wailing from the Lowlander.
He looked back up at Cale as he started to try to figure out what was happening. he noticed that there were indeed others here with them. It wasn't just Cale, the recently blown up children, the missing Kristoff, and himself. He noted the downed others around the portal and even the strange woman that had just appeared and then threaten Cale and left again. He wondered who she was... was there something happening that wasn't just this small place? Why where there so many Lowlanders here?
He sat and looked up at Cale... apparently he was in charge here, and probably wasn't a great thing that he just out and attacked the man. He wasn't even sure why he attacked the man in the first place. He really did start to think... wasn't he trying to kill them... yes that was it. He had tried to kill Jossigy... ... and the woman was a Jossigy... WAIT!
"Umm... Cale? Why are you after this realm? I... am a bit confused on the matter." he said as he cocked his head a bit to the side just to realize that when he had done that that his head started to hurt more. Maybe it was just too many hits to the head and that the man was wailing.

"Why am I after them?" Cale gaped at the Torque, eyes peeled as he backed him self up against Viast and the children, wary of the slightest movement. "We don't go after them! We're evacuating because they've driven us out! We only attack when attacked, you damn fool!" He hissed, watching, breathless.
The attack was not long in coming. A lithe, scarred woman, gold-brindled hair slicked back with sweat, slammed out of nowhere about a foot from Cale, her sword swinging wildly and cutting off two of the fingers on his deadened hand. He yelled and slashed out, missing the woman completely. She laughed loudly, sneering, as she whipped back around near the portal, stabbing down at on e of the exhausted Canine-mixed guards, and lopping his head completely off. It fell into Viast's lap along with the girls and Chicken...still trying to gasp its shock. The Cow shrieked in complete and utter horror, flinging the grisly item away as the Jossigy woman danced out to the center of the plaza, swinging madly to fend off any other attacks. "Come on, Cale! Fight me, lest I kill the rest of your crew!" She cried, watching with satisfaction as the Lowlander snarled and flung himself after her.))[/i]

It was a combination of the yelling, shrieking and appearance of a new voice that roused him from his mental turmoil. He opened his eyes and peered in the direction of, well... everyone now and he gritted his teeth showed his little fangs in that general direction. She was far too close to the kids to be swinging around like that and lopping off heads! He couldn't let her take much notice to the defenseless little balls of straggly fluff and he willed himself to stand. He swayed drunkenly on his feet for a moment before an idea, a perfect, wonderful, worked for everyone idea came to him. He could get her attention, and help Maraisa in one go, whatever the consequences were.
He swayed a bit before getting enough composure to move, and he did what he had before.... spreading out his arms and fingers as he moved as quickly as he could without falling toward the woman; those talons of his whistling once more. Regardless of whether or not he caught her attention, once he was close enough he stopped and used his new ability, summoning the Monster back out of his mind and willing the shadow demon that remained there to find somewhere safe in the depths of it.
He all but screamed his order, his voice far higher then it should have been in it's mix of rage and the lingering unwell of the worst pain he'd ever felt.
Get her! Attack the woman with the yellow-brindled hair!
With a scream of rage and defiance all it's own the monster reappeared, whacking it's 'master' off his feet with it's tail before lunging at the woman in question.
Morpheus fell flat on his face with a growl before making an attempt to get up to his feet once more. Damn that thing, damn it to the deepest, darkest recesses of the Marsh!
Maraisa please.... please find somewhere safe to stay.... he won't be free for long.
Skeletal Monster: Once a week, it must do its master's bidding for a full thirty seconds, but during this time, it will also do its best to injure Morpheus...often succeeding in its venture. The rest of the week, it will do as it pleases, manifesting to frighten its master's friends and lovers, appearing at inopportune times to wound him, tripping him, causing embarrassment and mayhem where it can. It can only come out of his mind four times a week, aside from when he calls it, and while out for an hour each time, it will try to do as mentioned above.

The haze of drug was making everything going on around the girl seem far away, somehow less real and much less important. She found herself struggling to keep her focus on things, watching as Viast gently bundled up the man's babies. Such a wonderful woman... She was still caring for them, even when he'd attacked her like that...
If she had known the fate of her sister, Mirai would have come completely unglued. As it was, there was a comfortable pillow of ignorance cushioning her mind. Viast was here. Viast was going to take care of her. She could just tell. "Let me... Let me look at your leg?" she murmured, picking up the white cloth between her teeth and tearing it. Words swam through her mind, a memory of what Mo had said. The combination of shock and drug was a powerful one, and the girl no longer felt pain. Just a distinct sensation of discomfort around her middle whenever she moved. Carefully, she set about wrapping the torn cloth around the woman's leg, her work sloppy and not nearly as tight as it should have been, but still more effective than the nothing that had been in place before. "She'll like that, I know she will..."
There was that familiar pang of upset, over the fact that her sister was a Josiggy. Viast had seemed shocked at first, but now... Well, Mirai just wasn't sure. She looked up at the woman, tears swimming in her eyes. "You aren't mad at me, are you? I messed everything up..."
At that moment, a human woman appeared with a horrible shout. There was a flash of silver and the next moment there was a face staring up at her, wearing a puzzled expression, mouth gaping like a fish out of water.
Mirai screamed. She screamed and screamed and tried to hide her face in the woman's armpit, a hoofed hind leg kicking out to launch the grisly thing away from them. What was going ON?! The head had knocked her from her drug-haze, brought reality to her again - there was fighting, and screaming, and an awful glass monster that reminded her so terribly of the man who had killed her mother (however indirectly). All Mirai could do was wail.

((Arriving from another thread, weeeee!!!)) Emery carefully kept his face blank as Gaurin hobbled over and started hurling insults at him. Did he really think that sort of talk would hurt him? He was an Ace, for crying out loud! He heard this sort of rubbish all the time, about how stupid and useless he was. Had Gaurin been with them before, he wouldn’t be saying this nonsense now. It didn’t really matter in the long run, but Emery was a little tired of being treated like an idiot. Not to mention that no one seemed to understand what he was trying to get at – wars were planned. Even if there was surprise on one end or the other, it was hard to miss troops amassing or even buildups of magic. Why hadn’t the Courts spotted this? Were their extensive spy networks completely useless? Perhaps he was putting to much faith in the Courts’ ability to handle diplomatic matters, or maybe nothing was said to avoid a panic… He didn’t know. What he did know was that he was starting to get a headache, and any questions he might’ve had weren’t going to help the situation. Luckily, the barber took this time to snap out of his hate-filled haze to take control. It was just as well with him – it was clear that the Lowland pair weren’t going to listen to a damned thing he said. Emery understood the stress the two Lowlanders were under, but he still had to fight to keep himself from feeling angry. They weren’t out here of their own volition, and it wasn’t helpful to treat his group as though they were some great burden. He breathed deeply to clear his head. Now was definitely not the time to lose his cool. He nodded to Orin, We’ve all seen you in action, I’m confident you can protect them.
Well, if he didn’t go charging into the fray, that is. Still, better to give him a false sense of security than tell him they could all very well die. They had no idea what awaited them around the corner. He smiled at the trio and turned his emaciated-looking frame to join Mr. Todd at the front of their ragtag group. Around the corner turned out to be remarkable accurate and Emery tensed as the sound of battle reached them. He brought a scaly finger to his beak as Gaurin ushered them behind a building. The Lowlander hissed quietly and urgently, then slunk around the backside of the building. He turned to the others and whispered low, Keep to the shadows and stay downwind, if you can manage it. If Mr. Todd and I aren’t back or haven’t called for you in twenty minutes, find a way to get out of here and find help.Emery looked to each of them, to make sure they understood, eased the makeshift shield from his back into his claw, then crept silently after the others.

(( Cale stumbled away from the woman, eyes wide, panting as he struggled to keep a tight hold on his sword. "Resta!" He yelled into nothing. "Resta! Leave them, just- You came here to kill me, do it! Do it, Resta! Leave them be!" He backed toward the portal again, and gave Mirai and Viast a desperate look. "Just touch it! Just touch it and grab them, take them with you, tell the guard there that I need help! Viast- Viast, I'm sorry. Tell Piers I'm sorry when you find him." Viast nodded, clutching the girl, tears running down her face as she reached out to grab the babies, pull them into her lap with the girl and the Chicken, and grabbed for the arms of the unconscious guards.
Cale fell back, rolling to avoid another slash from the sword that came out of nowhere as Resta reappeared. "Stupid bastard, you just can't stay away from me, can you?" She hissed, whipping the sword forward and taking off an ear. He grin nearly split her face, making her look of glee turn practically demonic. "You want me to kill you? Of course! All you had to do was as-" The liquid glass claws whirred out of nowhere, along with that hideous sound those talons made. "Morpheus!" Cale cried, rolling away from the woman and springing back toward the other Lowlander. "Morpheus, in all of Hell- Thanks." He threw the other man a quick grin, glad to see him back on his feet.
Resta shrieked in agony as the claws sank into her flesh, burning from the inside out! With another, cut-off cry. She vanished again, reappearing ten feet from the beast and taking a running slash at it, causing it to scream, stumble, and fling itself at her again. Once more, she vanished. Appearing again, behind, the two men, she raged at them, swinging the sword wildly. (13) "Cale!"
Viast managed to reach back and grasp the portal. "We're going home Mirai. Just hang on, we're going home." The portal made an incredible grinding noise... And opened. Colors changing to a blinding white, the Cow and her cargo vanished inside. An incredible force of suction sprang up, sucking in the small fiery fox and the dead guard's head. Then, it closed. Turning an off, faded orange...and beginning to fade out completely. Resta stared at it, shocked.
Gaurin gave Trix a long look. "Take care of yerself, m'gel. Don't come in unless yer willin' t'lose it all. T'was an honor t'know you." He clapped her on the shoulder, and dashed out of the shadows, taking the woman's turned back as a cue.
"Cale! Move!" He shouted, throwing a dagger from his belt and catching the Human woman right through the left leg. Screaming in rage, she vanished. Leaving them all on edge, forming a ring, back-to-back, waiting.))~Nathalia

Well, that had worked remarkably well and he had actually managed to rescue Cale after all, at least for now. And he also didn't have to worry about Mirai or the children anymore either .... but he still wanted to stay and fight. Not only just fight, he wanted to end her. And there was a growing confidence somewhere in the back of his mind that he could if only she appeared again. He still had one combination of attacks he hadn't used yet... and he'd definitely been saving some of his best for last and willing the glass beast to stay away, or return to the mental plane. Please, please let him behave ... or seek revenge on Resta for making him scream. either one worked.
He did his best to return Cale's smile, but it only turned out awkward looking and pained. The wounds his new summon had left on his face didn't bleed, since the damn thing pretty well cauterized it teeth marks, but they were still quite tender and sore. And she did appear again, but behind them and he tried to dodge her swing (9), but she got a slice in on his shoulder as he moved away.... before disappearing again. That was an annoying ability... one he sincerely wished to copy. He could already disappear in a puff of smoke right? Maybe, just maybe he could do something similar to her ability if he practiced. Her blow, after the absolutely wretched pain he'd been in before, and it's shallowness, was barely registered.
He moved back, placing his own back against Cale and Gaurin's as his pointed ears twitched and rotated as he tried to hear something(13), anything that might alert him to her reappearance. He spoke, his voice a little hoarse, but he made sure it was loud enough for both other lowlanders to hear. He had a plan.
If we both fall unconscious, don't kill her till she wakes.
It was a little cryptic, but he had a feeling it was all the explanation he'd be able to give before something happened. He definitely didn't want to see what may or may not happen should the person who's mind he was in during his Queen's ability happened to die while he was still in there. Maybe nothing... but he didn't want to jinx it.
Alohilani was terribly flattered by the wolf's praise and she didn't dare make him thing any less of her by telling him that she'd already used her one good defense against him. No... someone needed to stay back with Orin and make sure he behaved, someone a little less delicate then Karrock.
She took her position at Orin's side and did her best to keep up with the group. Her shoulder protested to this quite a bit, and a little blood spot had made an appearance on the outside of the gauze that it was wrapped in... but she gritted her teeth and moved forward.
Her eyes widened as she was suddenly confronted with the sight of a battle. The human seemed to be losing to that woman and she seemed like she was about to kill him.... until... until... what WAS that that just appeared to attack the woman? The thing was massive, and quite obviously a bad combination of angry and powerful.
That weasel mix did he.... did he cause that to happen? She'd never seen a power like that before and it terrified her. For now she was quite willing to hide herself behind the corner and try and gain some form of composure.

Menefer was rather confused at the moment as he looked about and watched as this woman started hacking away at everything before him. He just couldn't wrap his mind around a war. This was beyond him and before today he had never experianced pain like he felt at this moment. What the others must have been going through must be more painful. A war just seemed rather pointless to him.
He was about to talk to Cale when this strange woman just reappeared and started to attack everyone. He was going to help when that glass thing came out again and he just sat back and watched. Things were just getting too out of hand here, even with the portal vanishing and someone new appearing as well. HE just stood his ground and watched over the girl beside him that still had yet to wake from her slumber. He did hope that she would be ok though.

A temporary truce with Lowlanders… and two folk to watch after him if he 'misbehaved'… Great. At least it was acknowledged that he could get the job done. He flashed a rather smarmy grin to the Selkie girl… though something about her demeanor told him that he wasn't likely going to be getting the time of day. Karrock gave him a long look, causing Orin to give a rather innocent (if not painful) shrug.
Holy shit! Karrock's eyes widened at the sight of a headless weasel stumbling about.. and fighting. He knew it! He knew it! This was a horrible idea! They had been led right into danger! And that one man.. well. He was worried about his own people. It seemed they might well be on their own again.
Orin on the other hand, was conflicted. The one part of him was horrified by the death. But… what were those bodies. Were they… Jossigy? ((is the snaky gossipy mix still around? DX Also.. are the dead jossigies still laying about or did they fall apart/disintegrate, etc.?))
