Trix returned the grin, all teeth and a dangerous glint in her eyes, and charged into the field with Gaurin. She inclined her head slightly to Cale, blue eyes scanning the field as they spoke. Ever on the lookout for that woman.
She did not expect the stillness to be broken by a wild howl.
Trix snarled as two knives slammed into Mo and Cale only to find the wolf suddenly barreling down on herself and Gaurin. She only had a second to jerk out of the way (1) but the Josiggy bastard managed to rake his claws over her shoulder; fairly shallow but painful and bleeding.
Suddenly the plaza exploded into blinding white light as the portal reopened and a wave of Lowlanders flooded into the plaza -- so many injured and even more children. By the Gods, what were children doing here?! Everything seemed to move in ridiculous slow motion. Viast was wailing something then sobbing, a tiny flaming fox emerged as the portal slammed shut and then was chased away by a furious mob, and then Viast's tiny charge exploded.
Exploded and there was... God?
Trix, for the first time in her life, was stunned into silence.
Thankfully, Resta ended that with a quick punch to the back of the Weasel's neck. His sputtering cough altering her to the woman's presence just in time to see the emaciated Ace flinging himself at her. Ha! At least he was being useful! With the woman taken care of, Trix could focus on the wolf. She shot forward and snapped hard, aiming to take a chunk of the wolf's tender thigh. (18!)

((Viast couldn't move, couldn't breathe. Mirai's last words rang through her mind as the creature on her lap apologized politely and slithered off to raise itself up and gaze around. She couldn't say anything, couldn't think properly. She just continued to clutch the remains of the girl, the Ace, and the children, as though she hoped that somehow, things would work out anyway.
Resta had taken her eyes off of the newly "born" creature, trying not to think about what might have caused something like that, when she felt something painful twist her gut. "Shit." She snarled, barely getting the words out, before she heaved, a thick, purple-ish substance, thick and soupy, tasting slightly of melon, began forcing its way out of her, coughing, she vanished again, taking her swing and hitting the Weasel on the back of the neck, and cutting down at the disgusting Lowland Bird mix. She managed to take a chunk out of him that carried on down into a stab on the Lowland Canine with the mane (14), when she felt rather suddenly light headed. Not even noticing the Ace, whose small poker had stopped her blow taking off the Bird mix's head, she stumbled against the man who had cast the spell. Toppling over backwards against the weasel, she slumped into apparent unconsciousness with him...her sword vanished, her body continuing to vomit liquid onto the ground without her.
Gaurin grinned. "Righ', kill 'er, then?" Cale stared, about to say 'yes', when he caught sight of Morpheus's face, glancing out to the freakish glass monster as it dissolved with a scream of rage. "I- No...Gaurin, I think it would kill Morpheus...you know, we hurt her, it hurts him? He said not to-" "An' you're sayin' tha' his 'great sacrifice' i'nnt worth it in case 'e jus' lets 'er back out?!" "Look, Gaurin, I know! I-" He got no further before with a roar, Evan picked himself back up and flung himself at the Human after leaping over a pitiful blow that something had tried to deal him from the street. He'd landed whatever it was one hell of a kick (17), claws out, but he hadn't bothered to look at it. He had eyes only for the small circle of people he wanted dead more than anything else in the world. No, it wouldn't bring his brother back. Yes, he was certain it would make his brother rest easier. Teeth sank deeply into his leg and tore, his snarled and slashed down across the mutt's face (15). Swinging with his dagger, he cast his earth-shifting ability, one he had been honing for quite some time. The streets cobblestones and the ground beneath it suddenly writhed, lifting up with a whip and a will to encase the Canine and the Human in the stone and earth (18). That would last him a good minute. Snarling with rage, he flung himself at the Bird mix, (4) who dodged and gave him a hefty blow with the butt of the poleaxe (15) before jabbing him a long cut across the ribs with the blade. "Trix, Cale!" The man cried, fighting to get to them in order to try to free them, as the Wolf managed to jab the dagger into his back and twist. (11 vs. 3)
Morpheus appeared in a barren landscape with many rocky outcrops providing places to hide. A snide voice hailed him, though from where, he could not tell. "Interesting trick, this one is, rotter. What else have you got?" Her laughter rang off of the rocky outcrops, short and sharp, as an odd mist rolled back to show piles of Lowland corpses strewn about. Many children and young ones. "You know, you've damn well been an annoyance and an eyesore, why don't you just die?!" She flew out of nowhere on his left, whipping the sword across his back (17) and leaving quite a mark, before vanishing again.
About ten Lowland children, and a motley group of teenagers and young adult stared down at the Highland mixed creature shouting at them. One, a small Labrador Pup with a rotten ear, tilted her head so that her mane fell in her face. "Dan? Dan, did the Ace just talk, Dan?" She asked, voice quaking as she backed up, tail between her legs, against a bigger, Biped boy of the same Breed, probably her brother. The boy didn't seem able to respond, merely gaped at what was going on around them, and then back at the talking Ace. The very edge of his shirt was still smoldering from the fire and his tail was one large mass of burned flesh. None of them move and the youngest, a small Crow still fluffy with down, buries his head in another child's shoulder and starts to sob.
Unfortunately, for Orrin, Mr. Todd appears to have been completely knocked out, his nose is running blood like a tap and he isn't responding to calls of his name. Viast heard him, and stared across the expanse of road toward him.
Slowly, she stood, her injured leg shaking, and nodded. Trying to get over to him. A mad dash, fueled by panic got her there, and looking as though her heart would break, she dropped the bundle of babies and Ace tied up in the bundle of fine clothes. She then backed up, shaking her head. "I...I can't go, I promised her...so many things!" She choked on a sob as the corpse of the girl flopped pathetically on the street under the pile of babies, all of whom now wailed with vigor. "She asked me t- to take care-" She couldn't talk any more, rushing back out, she edged along buildings until she was again behind the Crocodile mix, staring at him in a mixture of awe and desperation. She wouldn't let Mirai down, she would try to take care of him. Grabbing the dagger out of the road where Morpheus's mis-shot had thrown it, she tired to steel herself to do something, anything.))

When he appeared, he did so in the most boring space he'd ever been in. Well, he'd been entirely right then... the woman's head was completely full of rocks. He would have laughed at his own lame joke had her voice not come to his ears just then. Said ears perked as he glanced around, trying to discern where the woman was. What a damnable annoying brain-scape!
you must be a blind piece of gutter trash if you can't see I'm not rotting.
The instant after he finished that sentence, the mist rolled in. His ears flipped backward and his expression shifted ot one of surprise. What.... what was going on? He'd never seen a brain-scape that changed! The corpses didn't phase him, he'd half expected something like that anyhow.... not to mention he wasn't entirely fond of his region as a whole still. No, the mist was what disturbed him the most. And then he felt the sting of a blade slicing across his back, the momentum behind it pushing him forward and he caught himself on one knee and a hand on the ground.
He looked around, trying not to panic.... she vanished again, inside this plane!? That was absolutely unheard of! how could she do that?
He twisted his lips back to expose needle sharp fangs before making an attempt to dig into the darkness and forge himself a sword of his own, eyes darting everywhere to try and find her.
Why don't you stop being a bloody coward and show me what you've really got?!
His tail stiffened as he awaited her response, and her appearance.
____________
Alohilani screwed up her face in an agitated, unflattering manner when it became quite apparent that the barber was nothing more then dead weight. It was actually kind of funny really, the first real change he had at revenge and, within a few minutes.... he was out like a light. She heaved a sigh and poked at him a few more times with a claw. Damn it!
Her attention shifted when suddenly one of the Lowlanders burst around the corner, arms laden with quite the burden. Her eyes widened when she realized they were all children, tiny, screaming children. No.... babies! What on earth were they doing here? She looked at Viast, to the body under the babies, the babies themselves, back to Viast as she disappeared and then over to Orin and Karrock.
I-I think he'll be fine for a moment. We should.... get the little ones to safety first. They can't.... defend themselves at all.
She looked back in the direction the cow had gone again.... were these children someone out there's? She shuddered at the thought and limped over to the squirming, wailing little things and tried her best to calm them, but they'd have none of it and she wasn't exactly a pro with children.

((The voice rang out again from the mist. "I like your trick!" The woman slammed out of the mist, rolling up near his legs and slashing hard, what she lacked in actual swordplay skill she made up for in ferocity and pure brute strength of frenzy. (14) "I'm humoring you, you think that being on the Josiggy Police squad, fighting my way to the top, that I wouldn't run across something like this?" Another slash, this one aimed at his face. (18) She rolled away again, missing her best chance and hitting one of the bodies lying around. (6) Before getting halfway to her feet and trying to vanish again, she managed after a second.
"It's the best one I've ever seen, I'll give you that...but, I can leave any time I want." She gave the man a shark grin as she appeared again, ten feet from him. "And once I've helped you further the rot from your brains, I'll ditch you here to die on your own, you worthless trash!" She hurled herself at him, sword first. (10)))

He cried when she got the back of his legs and part of his tail with her sword and made the attempt to roll away from her. But she came right back at him with a slash to his face that cut a nice little gash into the side of his face running from his ear, under his eye to his nose. It was things like this that made him thankful that injuries on this plane never carried over to the physical plane.
But this woman, the things she said, the things she did... he started to wonder about her and felt a little fear start to bubble up. That fear was quite suddenly over come with rage when she tried to go after him again, and missed. He raised both arms over his head and stabbed downward (19 o.o;), and grinned in sadistic glee when he felt it not only hit home, but slide in as well.
And she was gone again, damn it all to the marsh and back!
He rolled onto his back to catch his breath, get a hold of his nerves and wipe a bit of blood from his cheek. He only accomplished half of that when she appeared again, coming at him with that damn blade again. Fuck, he didn't have much time to react! He shifted to try and dodge (4), but wasn't fast enough and the blade ran a shallow cut over his rib cage. Damn, close.
with her in close proximity he aimed a kick to her midsection(17), and scuttled back, away from her.
The fuck is wrong with you?

Scanning the battleground, Emery spotted the Jossigy woman he had slammed against. Huh. She was vomiting purple. He was pretty sure he hadn’t had anything to do with that, but it was disturbing to see nonetheless. It was stranger yet that Gaurin and Cale were debating whether or not to take her out where she lay. He frowned. Despite her apparent attempt to send them all to Hell, it seemed a bit cowardly to slit the throat of an unconscious woman. Though, he supposed this was war, and she was definitely nuts.
He turned his head to catch the snippets of brief conversation. Oh boy, this wasn’t going to be easy. Emery had quickly taken it for granted that his earlier group were willing to work with him – these people were plainly shell-shocked. To top off the fear, fire, and chaos in front of them they were dealt with a talking Ace. Oh brother. He had to just sound authoritative - make this work.
Okay, kids. It’s okay. I am a talking Ace. Some Aces do talk. Some Aces are here to help people. He smiled brightly, trying to comfort them, though it probably didn’t help that he looked like a living skeleton at the moment. He positioned himself so he stood sideways – so that he was still between the children and the fighting, but he could watch both.
All right, kids. We’re going to play a game, okay? He looked into the eyes of each of the teenagers, a hint that he understood they weren’t dumb, but he needed them to go with him on this.
Do you see that building down there, with the red awning?
He pointed out a brick building down the road. It was a delicatessen, owned by a nice Torquehelm gentleman. It was probably abandoned just now, but he knew where the extra key was kept. It wasn’t a good long-term option, but it was away from here, and it gave the group a goal.
We’re going to see who can get there the fastest AND the quietest. You’re going to be the leader, [/b] he gestured toward the young adult, And all the kids have to find a partner with a bigger person, okay? The bigger people can have more than one partner. Quickly now. Alright, now everybody form a line. And when I say go, you go, okay?[/color]
Suits, he hoped they'd cooperate.

The downward arch of Resta's swing hit Trix's haunches even as she was launching herself toward Evan. It was a glancing blow (17) but it arched entirely across her leg to her tail and hurt like hell. Adrenaline kept her moving as she flung herself into Evan.
She got a good chunk of flesh and snarled victoriously as she ripped back only to be reward with a slash across the face. (1) The dagger bit in above the brow and arched down her snout sending blood pouring down her face as the husky shrieked loudly and jerked away from the Josiggy. She spewed a rather unladylike curse, momentarily blinded by the blood, and suddenly felt the ground begin to move beneath her paws.
In her blind confusion there was no escaping the ability and, before she knew it, she was encased in a whip of earth and stone beside Cale. Struggling for a moment, Trix whipped her head to free it of blood and her gaze immediately fell upon Gaurin. With a knife in his back. Her heart slammed against her ribs and something blazed against her chest as she became quite suddenly aware of a new ability.
She didn't question it and didn't hesitate, she just activated it against the bastard Josiggy. (15) She was not going to let him die on her! As soon as she could tear free of this blasted ability she was going to kill that Josiggy with her own teeth!
Jack's Ability: (For Evan) Once a week, she is able to cause another Card to begin spurting blood from their left eye for a full minute. This blinds them on the one side, making their peripheral vision terrible, and scares most Cards a good deal. Only works on Cards ranked the same as herself and lower.

Menefer looked up and quickly noticed that the building that he had turned to wouldn't open. He gave a sigh as he stood outside it just in time to see that there were many lowlanders and the such moving his way. They were all young... he hopped they would make it here and yet he had his own to save at the time. He quickly registered that the ace was leading them, talking? How strange... well tonight was a strange night indeed.
He looked past them and saw all the bodies about... what a waste of good meat, he thought as he shook his head slightly and then tried to turn away, but the thought of how to prepare and tenderize meat kept his mind occupied as he couldn't grasp on what he was thinking. True enough if he shared this secret new desire to share with others that he might just be thrown in a very dark room for the rest of his years. . . one day he would have his chance to get some fresh card meat... but where? Not here, too many people about.
Once the Ace drew near where he was did he register something, "Do you know how to get inside?" he asked as he motioned to the door that they had stopped at.

Orin cursed under his breath, backing away from Todd's prone body when he realized he was going to be able to do very little with the man.
"Push him against the wall! At least then nobody will step on him…"
Viast and her bundle she carried was a bizarre sight indeed, and he had to force himself not to take a reflexive step back as she hobbled closer to him.
The corpse. Oh for the love of the Marshes… He shook his head roughly, both to rid himself of the wave of nausea as well as vehemently disagree with the woman.
But she was rushing away. He cursed loudly, looking down at the babies, and the corpse. He grimaced, forcing himself to take the looped sleeves over his head. Damn these hooves! Damn the quadruped form in general at that moment!
The broken Ace within the bundle cried out in lament as the Lowland moved away, staring up at the Jossigy with wide and terrified eyes. And the babies. Oh Suits, his face was seemingly melted away with rot. Surely that child would have been better off with someone who didn't wish to vomit at the sight of it?
"Hush now, the dirty lot of you. Some focked up world it be in that your savior be Jossigy. At least in part." He had to admit, the irony was in fact striking.
"Oh suits, they're part Highlander. How…." Karrock had caught sight of the bundle and recoiled.

(( Resta gave an incredibly disturbing laugh, her eyes closed, hissing through her teeth without a hint of a smile as his sword stabbed down into her chest and cut straight out the back. Blood spurted from the wound and she glanced at it as though mildly interested before finally managing a good leap out of the way. "What's wrong with me? Ha! What's wrong with you is what's wrong with me. All of you, the whole, filthy lot. You're all going to die!" She choked a little at the kick, and gave him a scornful look, before vanishing and reappearing behind him, putting the sword through his neck. (20) "Enough. Let's continue in reality, you bore me." She hissed, before they both vanished. Morpheus would awake, gasping for air, Resta vanishing into nothing at his side.
Directly outside and around the corner from Menefer and the shoppe he just dragged his charge into, a tall form rounded the corner and limped by the front of the shoppe, stopping with a hurried rush of voices and hurrying inside. "Quick-like! Inside, inside, girl!" Hissed a rushed voice. It sounded heavy and strained, bit of a Marsh accent to it.
A tall, yet squat, man; some kind of Jossiggy Ferret mix was leaning heavily on a woman who was resolutely dragging him onward. His legs shook, but he kept up a small smile for her that you could see more in his eyes than on his face, his bushy mustache hiding his mouth.
ID: SD 489 Name: ---- Suit: Clubs Rank: Jack Gender: Female Animal: Hoofed Mammal (Boar / Deer) Region: Morganberry/Tulgey Wood/Highlands Dealer: Spiderfly Parents: Khizr x NPC
Notes: This tomboyish gal was born at the age of 22 and has a ready and waiting to run fighting spirit she inherited from her missing parent. Though she does tend to speak before she thinks, she has a kind spirit and soon after being born, she attempted to help her dying parent, who was still struggling to birth that mass of other children inside of him. Something huge had clubbed her over the head and dragged her off, and the next thing she knew, she was lying in a dirty alleyway, covered in gore and miserably unaware of her Mother or her sibling's fate. She will mourn the death of her Mom, but scorn him as well for the curses and insanity he threw at her before she was taken away. Born with her Bipedal form, she at least has the advantage of hands and a high rank to help her along. She has average knowledge of general Card Culture, knows nothing of the Wood, and has an incredible propensity for business and advertising. She's quite the silver tongue and a Morganberry streak to set her mind on fire.
Basic Magical Ability: She can go two days without needing to sleep. Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, she can carry up to 80 lbs of extra weight for 24 hours straight, one day per week. She is left feeling tired and somewhat drained for the 24 hours following that period. Strong Magical Ability: When activated, she can move or shift jade the size of her hoof or smaller into various geometric shapes. Powerful Magical Ability: When activated, she can communicate with another Club she is acquainted with through one of the objects she has made out of jade that she has given to someone. It basically acts as a walkie-talkie to them for mental communication. They are able to speak with one another through these objects freely, but only if the other person is actively touching the object at the same time. Jack's Ability: Once per week, she can cause someone to imitate the story of the twelve dancing princesses for up to one hour. Instead of their feet continuing to dance, however, their tongue continues to wriggle! This makes speech and eating extremely difficult. If a muzzled opponent opens their mouth while under the influence of this spell, they have a very hard time getting it closed again around the wildly thrashing tongue. It causes the victim no real harm beyond excessive soreness for the next several hours.
The woman found Rigsy about five hours ago lying in a gutter on an abandoned street, slowly bleeding to death from three massive puncture holes through his middle. She attempted a bandage job, and he's so far given her the idea that he'll be all right, not wanting to tell her that he's fairly certain he's dying. After giving the shoppe a cursory glance around, pained eyes falling on the Torque Cat, Highland mix (he couldn't see the rank at this angle), and children. He gives them all a small nod. "Sorry fer droppin' in like this. You wouldn't happen t'be hidin' in 'ere, would you? If y'are...would you watch my friend here for me for a moment? No, it's all righ', m'girl. I'll be righ' back, I promise. She's a tad confused, been hit upside th' head by summat, y'see? I need to try to see if I can... If I can help, outside. Please?" The last word is given with a smile as he gently takes the girls' hand from his own, pats her gingerly, and slinks back towards the outside, face set in determination that his body most certainly does not feel.
Cale gasped and writhed to keep his good arm free as the cobblestones around himself and the woman fighting with them warped and ensnared them. It constricted his breathing, crushed his deadened hand further in between two stones. But, he'd managed. Pointing directly at the Josiggy Wolf, he mumbled "Free." and waited, trying to ease some of the pain, the stones caused. Evan tore the dagger out of the Bird mix's back and kicked him hard. (14) Gaurin crashed down onoto the ground, trying to roll himself over and only just managing in time as the dagger came down where his head had been (9), ripping into his already injured shoulder. He shrieked and kicked up, sharp talons raking the Wolf's face (14) and taking out a chunk of his nose, right as blood started to gush from the man's eye. Evan recoiled with a yell of fright! His hand slapped up over the eye and his nose as he moaned in pain and confusion. His loss of concentration allowing enough wriggle room for Trix to easily free herself. Cale struggled after her as best he could, the upright curl of the stone and his dead arm making the going difficult in any form.
Evan stamped down hard on the man in front of him, successfully breaking the already ruined shoulder and putting him in the way of a rather rough stab as Gaurin regained a hold on the end of his pikestaff and brought it into the man's leg. Leaving him limping heavily. He dragged himself into the Wolf's blindspot and aimed up again, just as the Human woman appeared behind him and brought her sword down, hard. She backed off, laughing, dizzy and swaying drunkenly from the effects of the spell she'd escaped from, and vanished again. Gaurin stared in shock at the place where his broken arm hung half way severed from his body and struggled to back off as Evan cried out. "Resta! Resta, for the love of God, help me!"
The children and teenagers all stared at the Ace for a few further, horrified seconds, before the older ones hissed to the smaller ones to follow, or simply picked them up. Following after the Ace over and into the shoppe by Menefer, away from the Josiggy Bull and all the fighting. "Is... Is the Ace gonna be our friend, Dan?" The little girl whispered, her brother hefting her up and struggling after the group. "Yeah, Liz. He's our Ace. He's good and he's gonna help, like Gramma's Tibbles. Remember Tibbles, Liz?" The girl nodded and buried her face in his fur. One of the older teens, an Animal formed Feline with three legs, stepped forward to the Ace. "I'm not even gonna ask. Just what d'you want us t'do, an' are you gonna help the Josiggies?" She asked, fur bristling and her wiry face crinkling into a snarl. She would have gone further had the door not opened and the Ferret mix and woman with the pig-snout stepped in.))~Nathalia
