Peaches had done all of her work. She had been good about it. But now she was... bored. Everything about the palace right now was boring. The people. The sights. The smell of roses. Everything was just uncomfortable. And she didn't want to admit to herself why she was so uncomfortable. So she found herself wandering. And she ended up near the front gates. Maybe she should go out to the nearest down and try to have a little fun? Spying on complete strangers could be enlightening. Or maybe she could pester one of the guards. Maybe one of them had a good sense of humor? She squinted at the Highlander guard. Alaster. That was his name. He was a rather interesting mix of breeds and always seemed over polite. And yet he seemed to be good friends with Apocalypse. A hint of her smirk appeared as she decided to slink up behind him. "You look bored," she stated cheerfully. "I don't think we've ever been formally introduced... Mr. Alaster right?"

Another dull day on the job. As boring as it was, it was always good news. For the Court, anyway. Still, he sometimes was guilty of wishing that things would get a little exciting from time to ti-- Oh dear. "Good afternoon, Your Excellence," he greeted with a small bow, hiding his fear. He'd heard many stories (the most colorful being from Pale) and even seen her antics in action and because of this had been apprehensive about meeting her. Maybe she wouldn't cause trouble? "Is there something I can help you with?"

Always so formal. The woman looked the man up and down, her smirk still clearly painted on her face. Maybe she should play around with him? He had probably heard quite a few stories from Pale. Should she live up to them? Or should she simply be cordial?
"Perhaps," she began as she brushed a bit of hair behind her ear. It was probably better to play it safe. She didn't want to cut the party short. This was probably the only fun she would be having all day. "You looked a little bored, so I thought you might like some company."
She grinned. "And I was a little bored myself. I think this is the dullest day the palace has had in a long while. What do you do at the gate at a time like this? I can't imagine staring at the scenery is all that interesting."

Alaster blinked. So she was just looking for fun. Now he needed to find a polite way to tell her to go away.
"Well, regardless of whether or not I look bored, I am on duty. I'd rather be bored than the safety of the Court compromised." Was that too obvious? He couldn't be sure.
What do you do at the gate at a time like this?
Alaster blinked again. Well, I guess for someone who never had to do this kind of work, it would be something to be curious about. Now it was a matter of stating the obvious without trying to sound condescending. "I... keep on guard. It does get dull, but it is important it stays that way, so the safety of everyone here."

Peaches grinned wider as she listened to the man. Oh look at that, he was still being formal and polite. He was even hinting that she should go away. Like that was going to happen. This little game could keep Peaches entertained for quite some time, she figured. Unless he got too boring too quickly.
But she had never met a Highlander who wasn't interesting.
"Well, yes, you keep on guard considering it's your job. But that's not exactly what I meant," She she shrugged before completely changing the subject, "Don't you think it's quite possible for someone to slip by if there's only one guard on duty? I mean a skilled enough spy can slip by a person undetected with much greater ease than two. I have no doubt in your diligence, of course, because I've heard nothing but good about you. I just think it might be worrisome for some of the less intimidating guards to be left alone."
