As Penelope glanced over, she noticed the bright blue slithey and stared. Where, and when, did he come from? She hadn't noticed him before.. but the creature was pretty, and matched Javaid well. Nelo already had a hard enough time not staring at the gorgeous man and his markings.. but maybe if she inquired after them from a scholarly angle..
She nodded to his remark. "Just an interest of mine," She replied with a smile. "About a month, total. I stayed with a tribe on the outer edge for about two weeks first, and I've been with the Hsaru for another two. I just started out hiking a few days ago." The badger mix elaborated quickly, not wanting to bore him with details. Most people could care less about where she'd been or what she'd done; it didn't help that she was below recognition with her rank. It made life easier, though, skirting under everyone's notice.. except Javaid's, apparantly.

Javaid's fingers traced over Ma'at's blue hide in thought. Such short answers to his questions meant that Javaid would have to do more of the talking himself and he wasn't much inclined to do that. He wasn't very good at the whole socializing thing, especially not with strange outsiders.
Nevertheless, he listened politely to what she did say and nodded from time to time. A month wasn't all that long, but she was still traveling. Perhaps she'd pick up more of the regional tongue as she did and then he wouldn't have to struggle to dig up poorly remembered lessons in Common. "Will you be staying in the Wastes for much longer?"
The jackal hesitated for a moment before nodding slightly and pressing on. "How many other regions have you stayed in?" Javaid was honestly full of questions. He hadn't gotten a chance like this in a while... especially from an unbiased opinion. If this Nelo girl liked traveling the regions like she said then she was not as firmly set in her opinions as, for example, himself.

She dredged her eyes away from the pretty Slithey and instead focused on the artwork. It quickly became interesting to try to identify which tribe each piece had come from, especially since she wasn't fully acquainted with all of them yet, so it kept her attention until Javaid spoke again. It would seem neither of them were very good conversationalists.
"Yes, quite a while most likely. I don't have a specific time I intend on leaving." Nelo replied over her shoulder. She never gave herself a start or end date - she came and left when the time was right. Hisstor, however, was so full of interesting things that she doubted she'd be leaving for a while.
Nelo replied immediately. "I've been to all of them. I've only lived here and a few others, the rest I've only traveled through." She elected not to mention that a few of them, the Bog, to name one, had been for a period of about five minutes. It still counted.

(Oi, sorry it's taken so long to reply. @___@ Let me know if you still want to continue this or no?)
Such short answers. Javaid sighed a little to himself but didn't make his mild discomfort too obvious. At very least she probably wouldn't be able to tell he'd added a new discomfort to his list, he'd been watching her with nervous uncertainty the entire time.
"Hisstor seems to be a place of interest for you, then... If its one of the few regions you've lived in. May I ask why? I'd never have imagined a Lakelander to take such an interest in my arid region."
And she'd traveled through all of them? She seemed pretty young for one who'd been traveling so much, but even disregarding that he couldn't help but wonder about the regions she'd 'traveled through'. What of the plague-ridden Lowlands? or the cursed Tulgey Woods? The Jackal had never been outside of his home region, but he'd heard stories and read books. Such places were said to be dangerous, curses and plagues were things Javaid wasn't entirely certain he wanted to get wrapped up in.
"All of them, you say? What of the darker places, if you don't mind my prying... Tulgey and Torquehelm? They're said to be cursed... Or, ah... The Golfram Mash and The Rambalean Bog? You've never been inside the Lowlands have you?"
