She couldn't have believed her luck! For once in her life, she finally had something nice happen to her, instead of all the pain she was used to. She had been resting in a forested area, somewhere in the widewide world when upon the wind spun a beautiful ghost of a thing in the distance. She couldn't help having a curious nature, and chased after it for a moment or two. Once she had gotten hold of it, she had looked it over, seeing that it was a beautiful white peacock feather pin! What an absolutely lovely trinket! It must have gotten away from a wealthy doe to be in such a rabbit infested territory unattended. She looked around a bit, "Nah man missin dis ere feader?" she yelled into the distance....just to make sure... But no responce came back. This was well and good with her...after all...it meant she could keep it. She sat for a small while, just staring at the marvelous piece, letting the wind float through the tendrils of soft down, occationally blowing on it to enhance the dramatic effect. She smiled...almost forgetting about all the pain in her joints.

For what felt like the first time in a great while, Enzili felt like he was on top of the world. He might not have been a Jack yet, and he definitely didn't have himself a Boat or anything like that but he was working on it. One day he'd be great and famous, but for the time being he was just happy to boat about being a self-sufficient Leveret in a world run by Jacks and Cards. The little rabbit's head was wrapped with a bandanna, from which a number of beaded strands hung down all covered in an assorted display of mostly useless looking trinkets. Tufts of his pink mane stuck out the front, and his ears popped out of two little holes placed a bit closer to the back of the fabric. Zili thought he looked pretty awesome. And then he heard a voice. Immediately Zili's good day came to a crashing halt. Voices meant strangers and strangers were always dangerous. They could be a Card, or a Jack... Or heck, a Leveret which might report him to a Jack would even be bad. The rabbit quickly scampered and dove into a bush on the side of the path, laying low as he called out. "Who's dere?" He lowered his voice, aiming to sound as big and manly as possible for his rather light and often chipper voice.

She was entranced by the magestic feather so much, she jumped and cried out when a voice finally came to her ears. She quickly picked up the dropped feather and clutched it to herself. She didn't want to give it up now! Not after the small bit of happiness it had given her! Hell...it might make her more appealing to Jacks if she wore it! "I-yah ain't be givin noting back! Ya 'ear???!" she said rebelliously, knowing that she was probably being stupid, but well...anything that made her life just a little bit better was worth fighting for....right? Least...thats what her father had always told her. Somewhere deep in her heart she bled. She missed her father something fierce...but he had unleashed her on this world. She didn't want him enraged she left....Her old master still must be looking for her as well.
She looked around frantically for a place to hide, before finding a small hole at the base of a tree, and scampered quickly to it, hiding herself deep within and rustling leaves as she did so. All her joints ached with the physical exersion it had taken to run...but no matter...she could hide in this small hole from a large jack....That was what had called her...right?

On second consideration, the voice wasn't nearly deep enough to be a Jack's. Just androgynous to be... well, just about anything else. Potentially another leveret or even a doe... Either way, that was a great deal safer than getting caught by a Jack. Even a Card wouldn't have been so bad!
Slowly he edges along through the bush, trying to determined whether or not he could locate the rabbit... only to hear something go darting past, knocking up leaves as they went.
Ahh, his rebellious companion of the road? He flattened himself down, trying to keep all his brilliant colors to himself while he searched for... O! Suddenly his bright pink eyes fell on a form that absolutely delighted him. Submerged in a shallow hole and half-hidden by leaves, easily overlooked from a distance, Enzili saw another Midori Leveret. Without thinking he thumped his leg against the ground, alerting the other to where he sat before hopping forward lightly.
"O hey! You're a leveret! An' I don't intend to be takin' anything from a fellow Leveret!"

She hugged the feather to her chest, trying her best to quietly slow down her heartrate. She was a brightly colored female, and it would be hard for her to hide as it was, she didn't need noise giving away her position. Dark eyes closed tight, wrinkling her face, waiting for the footprints to go past. But they didn't, and it got worse. There was a thumping, almost a mocking sound as it clearly meant the rabbit had found her. Then the jumping came closer....she looked back over her shoulder in the hole, and it was just another leveret. She glared at him for scaring her like that...wasn't very nice of him... "Gud, Me nah be given ta ya anyway." she said indignantly, clasping the large feather to her more before turning her head back around.
"Wha cha be doin gon put da fear a Jah in me, ya bumbaclot!" she said like she had almost had a heart attack back there, he would know the last word to mean something similar to @$$hole. "Ya coonta say 'Nah Jack' a somting?" she accused. She had been rightfully very scared, after all...she didn't seem to be one who belonged to a Warren...she was to skinny and unkept to be in such an organization. She was obviously Warrenless. Life was scary for one such as herself.

The other Leveret's colors were far fainter than his own, more of a smokey green if he noted right, but still quite lovely. It made him think of mist on the water... or, rightfully so, smoke. In fact, it smelt quite delightfully like that oh-so familiar hometown 'herb'.
Zili liked them immediately even if they were still glaring quite heavily at him.
He settled back onto his hind legs, brushing back his ears as he waited for it to continue it's little rant. "Oi, mon, ya scared me just as bad an' there be no need to start slingin' insults about." He snorted and wiggled his nose a bit. "After all, what brains are there in yelling' 'bout being, or not being, a Jack if ya coulda been another Jack yerself or a Doe not far from 'er Jack!"
He shook his head. Too many risks for a warrenless rabbit, especially for one so easily to mistake as a potential doe... That was his reason for wearing the headband, after all, less possibility of being mistaken for a lady Leveret or, when dealing with cards, a bit more ease for hiding his long ears.
After he finished grooming his ears a bit, he fixed one emerald eye on it for a long moment. Oi, they were rather thin weren't they? Obviously not part of a warren, or recently abandoned maybe, and not very good at surviving on their own. "Hey, so yeah... I'm Enzili, you part of a Warren?" It was safer to ask than to assume.

She most certainly would smell like their hometown herb. It was such a part of her being by now, that the smell probably seeped out of her pores. She turned back to look at him again as he spoke, this time slowly...and painfully turning herself about. Her joints were starting to ache again, something fierce. Getting that angry had gotten rid of the residual high she was feeling from earlier this morning...and that never was good. Oh well...she had a stash not to far away....if she could somehow ditch the rabbit....
She simply noded at his words after a moment of silence. He was right of course, there was no reason to be slinging titles around in unfamiliar territory. "Sorry man." she said meekly, moving to leave the hole when her ankle decided to give out from pain. She fell with a little squeal similar to a frightened babe. She looked a bit embarrassed, and recomposed herself, trying for a second time to leave the hole, and this time being much more successful. "Nah man. Nah Warren be me hom." she said looking around to make sure no one had heard her. If she had scared him to after all...that meant he was in the same predicament right? "I-yah be Wandalyn."

Enzili debated the other rabbit as they moved out of the hole, watching the hint of struggle that accompanied all of their movements. The fall made him jump, halfway between helping and staying back to keep from insulting its ability to take care of itself.
Maybe they were hurt?
Briefly he glanced down, regarding his own general well being and overall fitness. He was even 'decorated', something that didn't happen often in the Leveret world. Perhaps he'd offer to lend a paw and get it some food, or ... something?
No warren, no home... And Wandalyn? Definitely a predominantly feminine name, a she then? He'd assume so unless told otherwise. "Ah yeah, no problem..." His little tail wagged a bit. "Its bound to happen, lots o' rabbits in dis part an' I was just passin' through." He eyed her a bit more, almost trying to see what she clutched so protectively. "Not ta be rude or anythin' but you look like ya might be hungry, am I right? The least I ken do for scarin' yah is offer ya a meal, right?"

She noted his apprehension when she fell, but ignored it for the most part. She was a horribly clumbsy thing...and having aching joints didn't really help. She looked him over a bit. She was glad to be in the presence of another Midori...and resisted the urge to snuggle up next to him from pure need to be around something familiar. He was a much brighter colored Leveret then she was...and with a nice little pink fuzz at the top. She particuarly liked how he adorned himself with his headband. He reminded her of home so much...she could have started crying.
The only thing that decorated her currently was a rather scratched up beaten up ring that looked as if it had seen better days...and possibly a gem at some point. Little bits of white down were visible around where she clutched the feather to her chest...but that was the only indication of what she was coveting...
She noded at his words. "I-yah jus do me best ta stay outta sight. I ran fra me last Jack....a now me scared dey find me." her lip twitched slightly as she looked around the forest again. Oh if her Jack found her....that would surely be the end of it...and not even her father would be able to save her. She looked down at herself a bit....she did....need food badly. Her stomach ached almost as much as her joints. Almost anyway. She couldn't gather food with her joints aching so bad all the time. "I-yah be gradefal fa any food ya be able ta spare."

Enzili had been there before, more than once. "Yeah, I ran from ma old Jacks too..." He reached up and twirled a piece of his tufted mane with a claw. "They keep on thinkin' I'm a girl and... y'know, they don't take too kindly to bein' proven wrong." The Leveret shook his head, the little beads and trinkets dangling from his headband jingling faintly. "But dat was den and dis is now, as they say, and I'm ma own rabbit, now." Ever since he'd gotten lost at sea with Zuberi he had decided...
He would be a great pirate one day. He'd be known far and wide, he'd be famous.
When she agreed to getting food, he bobbed his head and bounced down onto all fours once more. "Yeah, I ken spare food...'Course I ken. I'll have to find some first, that is, but I'll get enough for tha both of us." Being a Leveret on your own was still hard, but Enzili was bound and determined to make it work.
