It was quite rare that a frown graced the woman's face. It did, however, and it was probably clear as day that Karrock had stepped into an unhappy place in the snakes book. She was not about to forbid him from walking around without covering himself, but she wasn't going to lie to him.
"I was born a Jack, my sister was born a Queen. You still need to fight for respect in the world. Unfortunately, Karrock, people judge by appearance and I just don't want you to get hurt by that." Viola shook her head. "But I'm not going to stop you from going to the palace. I am just going to warn you. That's all." She refrained from sighing by scooping up a bit of bacon.
Hopefully this wouldn't send him into a rage. She just wasn't in the mood to deal with something like that when things had been going so well.

No. He was keeping the rage at bay.. and when rage was allowed to smolder and die, often it was replaced with an emotion that was sometimes harder to deal with. He'd stopped eating completely, staring down at his plate as he thought.. and thought -hard-. Silence.... that was what happened for a good half a minute, the quietness quite likely making things quite uncomfortable.
Still, he broke the silence before he allowed her to speak again, looking up with an odd expression on his face. His eyes were reddened, and he sucked in a sniff that made an odd sound because of his beak. The corners of his beaky lips gave a tremble.
"Anyone's moment of horror... can't be as painful as looking at this face -every- day in the mirror." His light voice cracked... and he pushed his plate away. "I... I'm sorry. I'm not hungry." Not angry... defeated. Torn. He slipped from his chair and quickly made his way out the back door. He didn't want her to see him crying.

Oh for the love of.... The snake hybrid watched at the boy's face faltered. Of course she had said the wrong thing. She always said the wrong thing. Viola watched as the boy practically ran out of the room.
With a slight his she banged her head against the table a few times. Really? REALLY? Why couldn't her sister have had normal children? The woman had been so beautiful and yet she had given birth to a strange one legged boy and Karrock. Karrock was just in a league of his own. She did love him, and she didn't particular care a wit about his appearance. It was more the self esteem issues that went with it that frustrated her.
And now she had to go and tell him everything would be all right in the end. Right. She slipped off her chair and followed the boy, quietly nosing the door open the peer out at him. "Karrock?"

Erroll cracked one of his eyes open, glancing around. Giving a groan he rolled over from his stomach onto his side. Closing his eyes he tried to bring himself back to reality, leaving the much too real dream behind. Heaving a sigh, his eyes shot open. Oh no! Sitting up he quickly glanced around. Well snap, he had done it again. He had overslept. Using his beak to nudge the covers off he quickly hopped to the door. "Anuty?" He called out as he struggled with the weight of the door. Finally flinging it open he headed down the hall towards the living area. "Anuty?" He called out again. Hopefully he had not completely missed breakfast. Spotting a familiar tail sticking outside of his brother's room he tilted his head in consideration. Was his brother in another one of his moods?
