(ooc: No worries! <3 I'm perfectly fine with a little time-skip.)
Ceren, had she been watching herself from an outside perspective, would have been completely bewildered. She was speaking perfectly, respecting all of the normally accepted boundaries that before, she would have thought of as unimportant. Yet, there she was, laughing and smiling, completely open with the shining golden Queen that sat before her. The food was delicious, and the conversation almost intoxicating.
Things would look almost... Perfect.
It was with a gracious smile that Ceren stood with her Queen, reaching out and helping the other card to hir feet. She had no way to predict what would happen next, and as Iria began to shift, her eyes widened slightly. That shimmering vision from before was finally displayed in front of her, and she liked what she saw. The feline's small chest didn't even cause the sparrow to blink, and she found herself grinning slightly. She wanted Iria.
"My Queen..." she murmured, falling to one knee and looking up at Iria, that glint of awe and desire still shining in her eye. "You are... So beautiful." There was nothing in her voice but honesty.

Next to the stockily-built Lakelander, Iria must look all the more delicate, both hir Region and hir breed causing hir to tend toward the slighter, elegant grace instead of the powerful, full-force image that Ceren had. The sparrow was powerfully-built as most Lakelanders were - the newest Queen of Diamonds, Theofilus, was an exception - and Iria loved that about her; it made her all the more attractive to the Gardener's eye. Shi'd always been attracted to women from other Regions, though shi liked residents of the Gardens well enough. Ceren was everything shi wanted; strong and strong-willed, ambitious enough to stand by hir side even when a Ten, and...there was just something about her, that drew the Queen in until shi found hirself utterly and completely infatuated.
When Ceren fell to her knee, Iria followed her down, clasping her hands in hir own. Perhaps now was the time to take a little risk, even though they were out in the open, where a good many people could see them. Well, if things advanced much more, then hir quarters were right through a door, and it wasn't too far to walk.
"If I am beautiful, it is only because I am with you," shi said softly, and leaned forward for a kiss as best as a bird and a feline could.

The movement, while not completely unexpected, completely took the sparrow's breath away, and her eyes slid shut. Slowly, very slowly, she slid her arms around the waist of the feline, each touch soft and confident. When the kiss broke, the sparrow moved close, her head resting on the shoulder of the feline, arms still shrouding hir delicate form in soft blue-and-white feathers. It really was incredible, Ceren found herself musing, how slight Iria felt, yet how obviously strong shi was. "Your words are far too kind, my Queen, and the ears they fall on are unworthy of it." sure enough, the woman was blushing again, and feeling incredibly, almost disgustingly, girly.
"Let me become fully worthy of such affectionate words, my Queen." the sparrow finally spoke, pulling back and looking at the feline with a small smile. The 10 on her chest was a subject of great shame for the sparrow, a marking that indicated to her that she had spent far too much time on frivolities when there were more important aspects to life.
She would rise through the ranks as quickly as she could. It would be hard, but the Card in her arms would make every difficulty worth it.
"But tell me, my Queen... Is there anything I can do for you now?" her words were filled with hidden meaning, her eyes dark as she leaned in to kiss the cheetah once more.

"Yes, my beautiful one... I believe that there is," shi said just as sweetly, leaning into the kiss and then drawing Ceren to her feet afterward. "Though such matters might be best discussed some place far more...private," shi added, and then lead them both through the door of the courtyard and into her private rooms, eyes full of promise and delight. -[Post-baby timeskip! =D]- Iria lay curled around hir children, mouth open as shi panted softly, having regained most of hir breath. The birth had been...difficult was a bit too simple way to put it. Shi was a cheetah, and had never been made for carrying too many babies, though hir Bipedal form had been more comfortable in that respect than hir Human form had been. Shi was fairly certain that Human forms had never been meant to carry any sort of children other than, maybe, a single child at a time. However, the results of those nine months were...beautiful. Perfect. Two lovely little children. As the midwife came forward to help clean off the paler of the two though, Iria's eyes widened in shock as the marking came into sight; a Two. A Two! Hir beautiful little girl was born a lowly Two! Well, that was...that was no matter, not really. Shi could send her off to hir mother, maybe in the Gardens. That woman was fully capable of taking charge and making sure that any child that left her care was as high a rank as was magically possible, and so hir daughter would be able to fulfill her potential, despite such a horribly low birth rank. Banishing those thoughts from hir mind, Iria turned to hir second daughter, checking the mark on her chest and purring with pleasure. She was pure Selkie like her father, yes, but a Jack; a much more fitting rank, and the combination of their breeds was beautiful on her. The cheetah nudged the little one over a bit, and then...froze. Another horror branded this child, and mentally shi wailed in horror, because it seemed like neither of hir children were destined to escape their birth without problem. Male. Their second child was...male. "CEREN!"

Ceren could feel the anxiety in the pit of her stomach like a brick as she paced urgently near the room of her Queen. This was all so much to deal with, and she wanted more than anything to be inside, beside Iria, holding hir hand and helping hir to work through the pain. But she couldn't, she was stuck here, and for the first time in her life she was terrified. What if the birth went badly? It had been such a long time, and her thoughts were beginning to turn dark. Iria's frame was so slight, the birth must have been excruciating for it to take so very long. The midwives that ran in and out of the room were far too busy to pay the woman any attention, and her terror was beginning to be pushed away when compared to her frustration. She just wanted to hear that her lover and her children were safe and healthy! At the sound of Iria's cry, Ceren burst through the door. She didn't care what anyone said or did, she dared them to try and keep her away after the noise she had heard. She froze by the side of the bed, staring at their children. Both had strong Selkie qualities, she was pleased to see... and the one wrapped in her lover's arms almost drew a small gasp from her. She was so beautiful, Ceren couldn't speak. " My Queen, my love... They're beautiful." she whispered, reaching out to touch the feline, one finger brushing across the mark on the girl's chest. " May she have my ambition," the sparrow murmured, voice slightly sad. She blamed herself for the low rank. If only she had waited until she was a King... If only. She looked up at Iria, reaching out to touch the feline's cheek. " What's the matter?" she finally asked, worry in her expression. " I was... afraid for you."

"Ceren...our daughters, they- Our child is..." Iria was...shi didn't know what to do. Shi had never considered that any of hir children might be a son, might be a boy. But...he wasn't a Yarrow, and it was the residents of the Garden who had the tendency to be born female, not the Lakelanders. And shi knew that her love had had brothers, and a male father at that. So shi should not have been so surprised, but shi was none the less. What should shi do?
Hesitantly, shi shifted the mixed-breed in hir arms, gaze drifting almost guiltily away from the sign of that shame, showing hir love the problem.
"I am...fine, do not worry, my sweet one. But this child, it is...male. A son. I'm sorry, I...could not give you two daughters..." Some part of hir mind was waving its metaphorical arms, trying to get hir attention and give hir some information about the situation, but shi was currently a little bit conflicted about the whole situation shi was in.
Meanwhile, the little feline squirmed in response to Ceren's touch, brightly-colored fluff tangling around her legs as she shifted, practically binding herself in the longer fur. Upset, she mewed in infant frustration, and tried her tired best to free herself, refusing to give up though all she seemed to do was make the situation more tangled.

She could feel the brick in her stomach melt away as soon as she heard that the feline was unhurt, and her posture showed it. When Iria continued to speak Ceren felt herself freeze, feathers flattening across her body for a moment before relaxing. She looked the infant over, eyebrows furrowed in thought. She had been raised in a family alongside men, and had loved those she was related to as she should. She found their habits to be distracting and offensive, yet... They were family, and family was important. All the same, she had never dreamed of having male children.
Iria was from the Gardens. For every grain of anxiety Ceren was feeling in regards to the young boy, shi must be feeling at least ten times more. She hesitantly reached out to touch the child, who squirmed in her hand and snuggled into the warmth, looking up at her lover. "Do not blame yourself, my love." she said, giving the cheetah a reassuring smile. "All the same... what will we do?" her eyes fell to the little boy again, expression softening slightly. He was... so beautiful. And a born Jack, one rank higher than she had been at birth.
At the other child's squirming, Ceren reached over, gently helping her to untangle herself. She lacked the elegant feathering found on many Lakelanders, but her siblings had often had similar problems. It was almost instinct to unwind the long strands of hair.

Iria felt vaguely guilty, because apparently Ceren had felt very worried about hir - and shi knew that, if the circumstances were any different, shi would be equally worried about Ceren as well. But right now shi only had a mind for the current problem that was plaguing hir mind: what to do about the little Jack-child in hir arms right now. The sparrow's words were comforting to hir mind though, and shi felt hirself relax anyway, because hir love didn't blame hir for the accident of birth that had given them a high-ranking male child, and a low-ranking daughter.
...a high-ranking male child. Slowly, Iria's gaze drifted to the sparrow-cheetah child, hir eyes thoughtful as shi pondered a possibility. Just as shi had been born, genetically, male, so was this child; and it was too valuable as it was, so lovely, and a Jack from birth...
"There is," shi began, hir voice hesitant as shi thought over what shi was about to say, "...something that those of the Gardens do every so often, when something like this happens. When the soul of a true daughter of the Gardens, despite that this one may have been born of another Region, is born in the wrong body." Shi slowly felt hir way through the conversation, blue eyes intent on hir mate, waiting to see what else shi would have to say to explain things. Her gaze did drift momentarily at the indescribably tender touch that Ceren had with their paler child, easily dealing with the tangles.
Her legs freed, the Yarrow/Selkie mix settled back into sleep, purring in stops and stutters.

((Ok, the description of purring? Made me melt @_@ Brought me right back to when I had kittens.))
Ceren's eyes moved from the Yarrows cheetah to the cheetah-bird that was held in her arms. She smiled slightly as she watched the blue and white form squirm and open its beak, chirruping as it moved closer to its mother. Iria's words were almost difficult to comprehend, but as soon as their meaning sunk in, she looked up to her Queen, eyeridges raising slightly as she turned the idea around in her head. She was almost completely positive of what shi meant, and her gaze fell to the beautiful - yet male - child once more.
Tenatively, she reached her hand out once more, stroking the child's head and smiling to herself as the little hybrid began to purr as well, the noise surprising when it came from that little beaked head. His front legs began to flex as a cat's paws would despite their strange shape, kneading at the air.
He - no, she - was perfect.
"My Queen," the sparrow murmured, leaning over and very gently pressing her beak against the woman's cheek, the best "kiss" she could manage with her current form. She lingered close, slowly pulling a hand away from the Selkie infant, even as he made a piteous chirping noise. "You need only to tell me where I can find someone who can fix this problem. I want our daughters to have the best possible lives." she said, voice soft.
