"Hell I dunno, but we should go anyway!" the Solandrian insisted in a most unwise change of heart. "Well, I want to go, anyway. See that really small cluster of buildings up that way? That's the village I just left a while ago. You can come with me if you want. I..." he gave her a searching look. He suddenly remembered why he didn't want to take her to that vicious place, and was torn. He didn't know this girl at all and was letting the appeal of her physical appearance interfere with his judgment.
"I have to go and... I want to stay with you, but I don't want you to get hurt, but I need to know if... if I belong anywhere... but if you wanted to come with me that would be cool," he blurted out, spilling his confused inner thoughts out in the cold snow to the girl.

Nelo blinked a few times, then tilted her head at him. What, exactly, was he talking about? Despite being a two she considered herself a moderately intelligent card, but he was confusing her just a tad with his ramblings about wanting to go in the other direction. Hadn't he just agreed to take her up the glacier?
Well, he wanted her to come with, that much was obvious. Nelo was more than willing to follow him wherever he wanted to go, really - she had no set destination in her little adventure - and he seemed nice enough, if a bit confused about his own direction. He was hot too, which was never a bad thing.
So she gave him a big smile, and shrugged. "Hadrian, I really don't care. I'll go to the town if you want to! Just as long as I get to go someplace I'm cool with it." She walked back to him and gently brushed against him in passing. "And it is so sweet that you don't want me to get hurt!" Nelo said honestly, her smile softening a bit. It wasn't often that she found someone that genuinely cared about her wellbeing. Her parents did, of course, but beyond that most people shrugged her off as more than capable of anything labor-intensive, being a two 'n' all.
Granted, she totally was, but that was beside the point. He was so adorable!

Sweet? Really? He was a little taken back by the compliment, not having received many of those in the past. He blushed slightly, staring at the girl. Then he coughed and cleared his throat.
"Well, uh, er... thank you? I'm just looking out, yanno? I'm sure anybody would do it..." Well, no. Not many people would treat a 2 with much respect let alone any sort of protective attitude, Hadrian knew this, but it felt natural to him, so he just went with his gut. He was completely oblivious to the fact that she thought he was 'cute'.
"Let's go!" he piped up, reverting a bit to a puppy-like state, bouncing to about face. He pranced forward a few steps then looked back to see if Nelo was following. When she was they continued forth, though he calmed himself to a normal walk. Suddenly memories of his last great adventures came to him.
"If you ever feel a little uncomfortable, cold, tired, hungry, whatever, lemme know, k? For all the distance we travel, it's that much distance to get back. It's easy to forget that." Oh yes, he remembered the misery forgetting that simple fact had brought him in past explorations and did not intended to repeat that same mistake while traveling to the Solandria Glacier.

Nelo nearly started a chorus of 'awws' at his blush, but then remembered that he wasn't a well-known neighborboy and might take offense to it. The last thing she needed was for this to get awkward. So she smiled to herself and ignored it. "No, they wouldn't," She said simply, then shrugged, not feeling a need to elaborate.
"Alright!" She agreed, then dove off after him, her odd set of paws not moving in the same manner as his did. She kept up easily, though it was easy to tell who's paw-tracks were whose.
Nelo listened to his speech and tried not to get completely annoyed with it. "Babe," She started, using the term in a friendly manner, then pulled her backpack off mid-stride to show him it's contents, "I've got enough provisions for two weeks in here, along with camping supplies should we need it. We ain't gonna die," The hybrid said, then smiled. "Don't worry. I've done this before."

He couldn't really think of anything to say. He knew it was true that people would generally ignore her -- and part of him did pity her for her low rank -- but he kind of didn't wish it was true.
"Oh," was all he could say after she informed him of her provisions, feeling both condescending and an idiot. Somewhat embarrassed, he turned his head to the snow ahead of him and focus on traveling North. The snow became deeper, but he hardly noticed. His wide paws were perfect for this climate. He only sunk a few inches with each step, despite the bulk he was quickly developing into his adulthood. After a bit he spoke up again.
"So, uh... how come you've done this before? You seem a little young to have traveled extensively... did you do it with your mom or have you always been by yourself?"

She just kept plodding along, mostly oblivious of his inner conflict. It was her life and always had been; she'd long since bothered brooding over it. Since she'd got through puberty, really.
Nelo did feel a bit bad for being quite so blunt, and threw her pack back on quick in order to follow him. She hadn't meant to be quite so mean about it, but really - how many stray 'maidens' did you find wandering around a glacier? She wasn't half dead, so it had to be some indication that she was doing fine. Some people just didn't have good observational skills, she supposed.
Her own feet were making interesting claw marks. After a while she spread her toes apart for better balance atop the snow, and was amused to see that if she treaded lightly, they looked like branch imprints rather than her feet.
At his words, she shrugged, looking away. "I've been to most of the regions. My dad went with me to some of the more dangerous ones, but otherwise I've been on my own for a few years by choice." The mix briefly glanced back at him to smile vaguely, "I'm sixteen. I'm not that young.."
[[She's all depressed now XD]]

Hadrian made a strange face as he paused. Boy, he just couldn't open his mouth without having fail just pour out of it, could he?
"I... I'm sorry! I didn't mean anything by it!" he tried defending himself, "I just, not many people your... our age travel. Usually people more, er, older and experienced and stuff do that. I..." His ears and tail drooped as he picked back up his pace. He didn't know what else he could say. He was terrified that the next idiotic thing that came out of his mouth would offend her to the point of her leaving him.
Being only about 17 himself, 16 did seem pretty old. Hell, Xiven was a titled Queen when she wasn't that much older than he was now! Clearly age had very little to do with accomplishment... well, from his view of the world, anyway.

Her smile widened a bit at his struggle, so she turned her head away briefly to compose herself again. When she looked back at him he was so pathetically cute she nearly cooed at him, so cleared her throat and nudged him. "It's okay, really! I know I look like I'm twelve, most people make that mistake," She said with a quick glance at her own body. She had little going for her: her fur was coarse, her body was built for traveling and not much else, and her badger claws made her seem disproportionate. It wasn't much to look at, from her perspective.
"I'm an oddity," Nelo commented quietly. "I don't like being in one place for long, and while I can fit in with just about any group.. I don't really fit in.. if that makes any sense."
