Ilana looked at the water of the stream for a moment and nodded. He was right, in an hour or so the sun would be higher, and will probably have warmed the water a bit more, then it wouldn't be so bad. She backed up and ploped her butt down on the forest floor, watching as Tavor was about to wash his coat, when she began to realize he had taken her wrong. They sure seemed to have a great deal of communication misunderstandings. "Oh...no...I didn't mean...um...what you thought...I meant...um...that there would be plenty of nights to show me what you really wanted to."
Oh...but in a way that gave him the wrong idea to, "Not that I didn't enjoy last night, and...if you wanted to...I mean...I...um...well..." she couldn't finish her sentence, to shy to really say what it was she wanted. Instead she looked around the stream. She changed the subject quickly, "So...I'm going to look around the stream a bit and see if there are any berries or something we can both eat, while you are washing your cape. I suppose if I don't find any well have to search away from the stream...maybe once we wash up."
She ducked her head a bit as she walked away, feeling embarrassed. Suits, she felt like an idiot.

Ilana, it's alright ... really. I just shouldn't keep ... thinking that way.
He smiled, it was the awkward sort but it was still a smile, and he continued to try and work all the mud out of the fabric. From sitting on it the mud had soaked all the way through and it would make getting it all out a bit more difficult. The action making it far easier for him to clear his mind ... suits why was he so very awkward?
Just don't .... go to far.
His voice had an undertone of concern ... he didn't really want her to leave him there alone ... and he certainly didn't want her to move out of range so that if something happend to her .. .he couldn't hear her and come to her aid. He twitched his tail a bit ... a little negative part of his mind telling him that she was leaving for good. He swallowed hard and tried to focus on his cleaning and not think about that ..... if she didn't come back ... well ... he'd be more then a little crushed.

"It's ok...I should choose what I'm going to say a little...better. Heh..." Her face turned red, but she smiled with him. She loved to see him smile, it was a shame he didn't do it more often. Well, she had seen it a great deal actually, but it always seemed special, like it was something that didn't usually happen. She watched him wash his clothes a little more, but his next sentence made her heart sink slightly. Who was she to ask to stay with him then just leave his side? She looked around.
"I won't. I'll make sure I'm always in your line of sight. Promise me you'll be here when I get back..." she added the last sentence a bit nervously. As much as he needed to be reassured she wouldn't leave, after that talk of last night...she was still a bit nervous to let him out of her own sight. It had only been the awkwardness of the moment before that made her want to get away for a moment anyway. Her lip quivered slightly, the thought of him not being there tragic for her...but...well...she should look for something to eat for the two of them. He craned her neck behind her...wondering if...maybe she should just stay there...until they could both go together. "I don't want to loose you..."

He paused what he was doing for a moment .... there was just something about the way she said that that just ... pulled at his heart. He drooped his hears before turning his head, he was actually trying not to look to pathetic but ... it wasn't exactly working. He just ... got a little feeling that she didn't actually want to go.
I-if you want ... we can b-both look later.
He gave her another smile, curling his tail a bit more. If she stayed he wouldn't have to worry, and if he didn't have to worry ... well, he wouldn't have to feel so .... down either. As much as he was trying to hide it for fear of getting hurt he was hooked on her. It hadn't taken much but ... he couldn't help it. They were ... so much alike and yet different enough to make it not be horribly boring and she had never once thought twice about hte... less attractive half of his heritage.
And then there was last night ... he couldn't forget that. That just ... wasn't like him but this girl ... she made him feel different. It was a strange, terrifying feeling ... but he didn't want to see it pass.

She stood still where she was. He was right, she didn't want to leave, and even if she tried, she wondered if she would be able to make her legs move away from him. She just stared, and looked at the stream a little from time to time, trying not to make her own fear obvious. When he finally piped up...she answered a little to quickly, "Yes....I think that's a better idea...I don't know what I was thinking before." she plopped her body down on the ground, and put her head between her two front legs on the floor, watching Tavor, her eyes unmoving.
She waited for him. The water was still to cold to bathe, and she had now decided she wasn't looking for food on her own. It shouldn't take long for him to finish washing the cape. She watched the meticulous washing, and couldn't help but admire the shade of green the fabric was, "You know...I don't think I've said this before...but that's really a lovely cape..." she looked up at his eyes and gave a small smile. She was trying her best not to make the situation awkward anymore, but she wasn't sure how successful she was being. Her tail swished this way and that, flinging little bits of dried mud this way and that. She really did need a bath.

He'd be hard pressed to admit it but ... he was terribly relieved when she came back to his side, but that little grin on his face just might give that away. He flicked his tail, the tip brushing her side and resting on the ground next to her. He had done this on purpose but, if she reacted badly to it, he could always just apologize and make it look like an accident ... he hoped she wouldn't mind though ... he really liked being near her and .... having a part of him touching her was even better.
His ears perked up at her comment, and his grin broadened a bit as well. Now, his cloak most certainly wasn't an awkward subject, and it held quite a lot of sentimental value to him.
Thank you ... I've had it since I was little.
He pulled the cloak out of the water, lifting it up and turning it to make sure he'd gotten all the mud off and, pleased with it's cleanliness, he stepped over to a nearby tree and tossed it over a low hanging branch and straightened it out so it would dry all over.
What would you like to do while we wait for this to dry?
He peered over his shoulder at her ... his tone hinting that he was leery about leaving the cloak even if they were in the middle of the forest ... he just ... wouldn't be able to leave it unattended.

She didn't even flinch as his tail lay against her, secretly enjoying the little bit of touch more then she wanted to admit. Ilana didn't want to scare him off. But...the fact that he was comfortible with touching her without apologizing was good...right? That had to bee a good sign. A smile graced her features as she watched his own broaden wonderfully. "Was it a gift?" she asked, feeling curious about the cape. Tavor sure seemed to care about it a great deal. She could tell by the way he washed it, how he had brightened significantly when it was mentioned...
She watched him hang it up, sighing a bit when his tail moved from her side. He blinked a bit at his question, and looked around. She looked at the water. It still looked kind of cold, "Did the water get any warmer? We could go for a small swim, get clean and such to..." she rolled on her back a little, stretching out her legs and cracking her back a bit in the process, "Or...you could come lie with me...and we could watch the canopy for birds...listen to them sing..." She looked up at him, smiling slightly.

Sort of ... the money to buy it was, anyhow.
He did his last bit of fussing over his cape before he turned and stepped toward her, obviously feeling much better about quite a few things. He had that smile still on his face when he reached her and peered down at her, rounded ears fully forward and whiskers soon following suit.
Well ... I really don't think it's warmed up qui-
He paused before finishing his sentence when she made her next suggestion, a bit of red coming to his cheeks but hopefully not enough to be seen beneath his darker fur, it definitely wasn't large enough to seep into any of the white parts. He uncurled his tail and then re curled it, laughing in a slightly nervous manner... but suits ... that sounded ...
T-that sounds .... lovely ... Ilana.
Now, if he could do this without having a panic attack .... everything would be alright. first he sat down next to her before he leaned back, flopping down on his back on the ground next to her. Well, so far so good.

She blushed along with him. She really had to get better at saying things more carefully around Tavor. She hadn't meant for him to think that she was...well...being so forward again. She sighed, laughing a bit as she turned her eyes to look up at the canopy. Suits, he must think she was a whore. Not really, but...well...whatever. It wasn't important. He agreed, and thats all she wanted in the end. She smiled widely as her emerald eyes searched above her in the trees. She resisted the urge to touch him right away when he lay next to her. A part of her couldn't help but want to, couldn't help but be curious about his opinions of last night, a part of her that wanted to be intimate with him. But she really had to be careful around the bashful rat, and honestly...she wasn't brave enough to act on those desires. She really didn't want him to tell her off.
"Do you see anything in the trees?" she said, turning her head a bit to look at Tavor as he lay next to her. He wasn't that far away...she could steal a kiss right now, reassure that was something he would be interested in for the future. She hoped he would. But she couldn't do it. She couldn't make him so uncomfortible. She closed her eyes for a moment, instead of looking with her eyes searching with her ears. She looked back up to the sky, eyes still closed, her ears moving in strange directions as she searched for the illlusive bird that was chirping softly...but was skillfully hiding.

He swore he could hear his heart beating as it did so terribly fast .... it did that anytime she was near him actually. That little negative part of his mind was still telling him that she was simply humoring him until they got cleaned up and into town and then .... then she'd leave. He felt a little sinking feeling in his chest at the thought and tried very hard not to sigh, and not to touch her. His tail, however, acted on it's own again and snaked it's way over to her outer hip. The tip flicked idly, touching her whenever it flopped to her side.
I think I see a little bit of color every now and again ...
He squinted his eyes and tried to focus more on the canopy then the negative thoughts running circles inside his mind. however ... he couldn't find that bird! He could hear it, thought he saw it occasionally ... but the little bugger was being elusive.
Do you?
