Zether giggled happily at Doorie's antics, unaware that the adults in the room seemed to be congenially amused with the two of them. He sat down in front of her and gently poked at the Tove, but his attention was quickly and easily diverted by food.
Mia took a seat, and gave Zether a glance that booked no disobedience; the pup sat down next to him and took a cup of tea with as much grace as he was capable. The pastries he shoved into his mouth, though, was done as quickly as possible and without meeting his mother's steady gaze. Mia just sighed and took a cup for himself.
The pair listened attentively, Zether's brow furrowing at the mention of 'samples.' Unsure of how to respond, he blinked at Mia a few times until the Queen gave him a slight pat and took over the responding. "The blood won't be a problem. I'm not sure how easily you'll get an ectoplasm sample - we've never tried removing any. If you can, though, you're welcome to it."
He paused before continuing, glancing down at the obvious mutations that had formed over his body over the years. "Nothing I ingested, no. I have one brother that eventually gained fairy wings and head-feelers, but he wasn't born with them, and they're very dissimilar to Zether's wings. My other siblings are 'clean', as it were." The ferret paused again before continuing. "As for myself, I was given a necklace at birth that has caused me... various problems throughout my life. The effects have shifted and varied over the years - what was in affect during my pregnancy is not the same as what you see now. These glass shards as well as my eyes happened when the necklace shattered. That was well after I had given birth, however. How much detail do you want on the previous.. problems?"
Zether stared up at his mother, his tea forgotten in his paw. He'd never heard Mia talk about this.. necklace.. before, ever - in fact, he'd never known it to exist. As far as he could really remember his mom had looked something akin to this. Did it really have something to do with his wings?
