Monte didn't often go out and about on his own; normally Donovan demanded that he basically run attendance on his elder brother. Today, however, Donovan had sent his younger brother away and now the horse was at a bit of a loss as to what he should do. He could head back home, but. . . well, his mom's babysitting tended to make things rather awkward and strange and it was difficult for the bound Torque to dodge running kids and flying toys. Rather than make the attempt, Monte finally decided to look for a park or cafe; somewhere he could go to be out of the way and still have something to look at. Blue hooves made their way haltingly over the cobblestones, his dark ears flicking around almost desperately to try and be certain he wasn't about to be run over by any of the rather frantic city dwellers.

Zether wasn't used to being on his own in the City either; he was usually on a short figurative leash and was restricted to a few stores and shops he was allowed to go in while whatever parent he was with finished up their business. Today, though, Mother had said he could go wherever he wanted as long as he didn't wander into the "bad" parts of town, so he was happily wandering around some of the more residential districts, exploring new but not completely unfamiliar surroundings. He was happily floating along when a straggly, black-and-blue figure caught his eye. It looked... familiar, somehow. They were half Kahmden colors, weren't they? That wasn't... "Monte? He called out, falling gently to the ground in front of his cousin. "Monte!" He said again, grinning over at the quiet boy he hadn't seen in a while. When was the last time he'd been to Aunt Sae's house? Years now? Quite a long time.

It took a moment for the familiar voice to cut through the young horse's rather paranoid movements through the streets. His blue-tipped head jerked up, sending his deep purple forelock flying briefly upwards and giving a flash of startled eyes. He finally spotted the owner of the voice and a small smile actually quirked up the edges of his lips.
"Zether," he greeted his cousin with something like cheerfullness; it was generally hard for him to muster a great deal of cheer, but without Donovan grimly staring over his shoulder and trying to be 'normal', it was easier to be happy to see yet another of their rather strange relatives.
The young Card hesitated for a long moment, trying to think of what he should say; it was a rather large shock to just run into anyone he knew out here on the busy streets of the Capital. "Uhm, how are you?" He hoped that didn't sound insincere; he really did want to know, he just wasn't very good at everyday conversation.

Zether happily pulled up alongside his horsey cousin and adjusted his pace to match the melancholy creature's. He was moderately surprised to see Monte smile; in the past, he'd always been overshadowed by Donovan and never seemed to completely enjoy it. Clearly, having the day "off" was doing him some good.
"I'm doing just peachy, and you?" He replied with true cheer, hoping to infuse more of it into his cousin. "I've been given unusual freedom from the slave-bearing padres and am just roaming around, hoping to find something to do." The pup sighed over-dramatically, and even rose his paw to cover his eyes in a melodramatic fashion. Perhaps he should invite his cousin to spend some time in Spades.. but Zether wasn't sure if he could get away with inviting just Monte; where Monte went, Donovan and co. tended to go. They would probably take offense at not being invited, and then he'd get a lecture from the slave-bearers about proper etiquette..
