The beast did not respond--it seemed to not know how to talk beyond a couple of odd noises, but that didn't bother her--but it did creep closer, and she found its trust pleasing. Where did it come from? Had someone abandoned it?
Well, it was their loss. When people left things lying about they became Milena's.
"You should come with Milena," she said. She didn't consider what her family might think of it. They could like it or they could adjust. Or not, as the case may be. Milena liked the idea of scaring her siblings, too. Getting Zhenya and Coralie would be easy enough--they had more gentle temperments. If she could get Kaz, too...The thought was very appealing. Some children ruled through cute. Milena liked to rule through fear. "She will give you a bed and lots of better-tasting people to eat."

The Beast stared some more, fascinated with the dress she was wearing now that it was close enough to see it in detail. It was tattered, but it was beautifully made... and it did like pretty colors. It stared at the dress until she spoke again, then looked up, its eyes hopeful but confused.
Home? The word was familiar to it, but it did not seem to have the same connotation to it as it did to her - to it, "home" was a place it stayed for a short while, then it found a new place to be "home." It did not want to be discovered where it was by Cards, so it didn't stay in places long. For it to go with this... Milena... could mean bad things. It could not stay with her long. No doubt there were other Cards living with her, and no one had ever enjoyed the Beast like Milena was, and probably no one would after - it was a bad idea.
Uncomfortable, the Beast swayed back and forth in an uncertain fashion, now avoiding Milena's gaze.

Milena frowned with sadness and impatience, perplexed by what she might have said that made the little beastie avoid looking at her. Maybe it didn't trust her to find it good people to eat after she had tried to feed him that nasty-tasting fellow who was currently languishing in unconsciousness somewhere that Milena didn't bother to think about. Or maybe it was something else? Lingering abandonment issues? She wasn't sure. She mulled it over for a moment.
"Milena can hide you," she suggested. She smiled, distant and fond. "She knows how to make her sister and brothers be quiet...And she will care for you always." She smoothed out a wrinkle in the tattered fabric of her dress. What did her papa always try to impress upon her? Diplomatic solutions...though as far as she was concerned, a "diplomatic solution" was still getting exactly what she wanted; all it entailed was making other believe they wanted it, too. "But Mama and Papa are fearful and often let Milena have what she wants. At least show her where you sleep so she can find you again."

The Beast was all set to start backing out and return to its normal life - though it would be very sad without this Milena in it, being fascinating - until she caged it in with her stare once more and it felt very compelled to stay exactly where it was.
Hide? Is that not what it usually did, hide from the society that formed while it slept? It did not need Milena to hide it, but obviously Milena felt she needed to help. Truly, the Beast would be content following her around and basking in her ability to capture Cards with such ease, but that was, perhaps, not the best solution.
It normally would be willing to show her its hideout, but it currently had none, having abandoned its old haunt in order to find sustenance. It had yet to scrap up another one.. It stared blankly at her for a moment before it listlessly gazed around in the alley they were in for a place it could use temporarily. After a long pause, it noticed a few garbage bags heaped in a pile next to the building. It floated over to them and nudged them around, then, almost gracefully, descended upon them and curled up in a very puppy-like manner. It gazed over at Milena hopefully.

"You are cute like bunnies," Milena said, lovingly. She pushed her hand against the garbage bags, apparently assessing them.
"They are soft but regrettably lumpy," she concluded. One of them leaked red goo that looked a little like blood in the dim light. She opened the rip a little bit to see if there was a body inside. Alas, it was only the remnants of a container of ketchup, diluted by garbage bag filth. This was disappointing.
She flopped down on one of the trash bags, determined not the leave the little beastie alone. "Milena will sleep with you this night. Then she will tell Mama and Papa she is bringing home a new friend, and they will accept you into their hearts. If you sleep on things like this all the time it will affect your daytime performance and your scary will be less intense. Milena slept on gravel once and it was not good for her at all."

The Beast simply watched her from it's position on the bags, unaware of the wholly inaccurate made in reference to itself. It shifted when she tore one of the bags open and peered in with her, just as curious - and just as disappointed when it was just something gooey and not bodies. Departed souls were much easier to sleep on than garbage.
It regarded her with a mix of curiosity and doubt - it wasn't entirely sure of the meanings and contexts of half of what she said, but understood that she intended to stay with him for some undetermined length of time. This girl was young, though, and clearly not entirely in tune with her society... yet. No doubt she was going to find it much harder to stay by it than she thought.. but it would let her stay, because it found her fascinating.
The Beast made some indecipherable noise - intended to be contentment, but coming out more as a squeak-hoof - and settled into the bags.
