"Ah, good." Eldy very carefully didn't look at Tabby's disappointed face as she gestured Thaddeus closer. Not that it would have affected her of course, but...but she just didn't want the chance of distraction. Right. She looked at the girl's...Mother instead. She nodded carefully, able to tell that it cost him a lot to trust someone like that. "I'm good at keeping secrets," she promised, though the words tasted slightly bitter in her mouth. Luckily, though Jak didn't seem the most mentally stable of individuals, she didn't think him likely to attack her, as certain other Cards had seen fit to do in response to her promise.
"My master speak the truth," said Thaddeus from somewhere near Eldy's shoulder, trying to prove himself helpful, as always. "What she wishes to hide, no one can ferret out."
Eldy gave her familiar a Look, and he quieted with a mutter apology. Sometimes he was a bit too eager to please her. It was almost creepy. But it was definitely more cool than creepy to have a little Wurm to do your every wish. "I do hafta go. Sorry." Eldy shrugged, looking slightly apologetic, and hopped down off the couch.

"Secrets are impoooortant sometimes," Jak agreed regretfully. He thought the world would be a much happier place if there were fewer secrets and more people willing to accept things kept secret. That wasn't his choice to make, though. Some people just seemed so happy to keep their secrets.
Tabby shuffled her feet along the floor a few times, nails catching in the wood. She picked at one spot with a small frown but then shook it off with a smile. Mommy always told her that more people appreciated a smile, especially when you were saying goodbye. "Okay. I'm glad I got to meet you. I hope you come and visit soon! And take me with you for a little while! I'd love to see."
"Gooood girl, Tabby," her parent mumbled, one hand reaching out to fluff the top of her head. She giggled happily and rocked back and forth, leaning on Jak as he stood up. "I know we interrupted your woooork, but I just, uh. I just wanted to... to thaaank you. For this. I appreciate it. Now I'll be able to put a person to your faaace."
((And we're just about finished? :3))

Somehow, the way that Jak said that, as if he half wished he could tell the world about his secrets instead of keeping them, made Eldy relax a hair. She'd still keep the secret, of course, guarding it with her life even, but the fact that he held such a curious attitude about it helped to reassure her just how unlike Pale he was.
Of course, a beat later, she realized that Apocalypse was his mother's weapon. For some reason that thought sent a chill through her, but she shook it off, and turned to give Jak and Tabby a small smile. She was relieved to see Tabby was smiling at her. Both of them were, really, and in a way that managed to be more endearing than creepy. One really could get used to a lot of strange things, Eldy thought. Especially if they were strange Cards in one's family.
"Hey, it was good to meet you guys," she said by way of goodbye, with a small shrug. "I'll be in contact." The Torquehelm waved one paw to the two before turning and melting into the shadows, the little green Wurm on her back flicking its thorned tail from her shoulder.
((And that's a wrap! I'll close it.))
