Hm. Well, as far as cake problems are concerned... my first thought is that it's perhaps an altitude problem. (Then again, what's your altitude?) I don't know the exact chemistry, but that can cause your cake to fall. Also, potentially, it might be underheated, which would mean your oven isn't getting as hot as it says it is. Or it might be the leavening agent is past its prime. That's all I can think of. :>
