What was she thinking sitting on a corpse? in a way they felt sort of familiar and comforting in the this reminds me of the books I read with my brother sort of way. She was pretty certain Nephy hadn't meant to give her that book that gave her nightmares and started the whole thing, he didn't pay attention to what he was handing her most of the time, but she liked them. In fact, this whole scenario was kind of like one of those books, but she didn't exactly like all of those aspects.... especially how this strange group of potential kidnappers all seemed to be trying to kill her.
Dead people weren't really high on the list of things that could try and kill you .... beyond germs and stuff. Well,if they had plants inside of them that liked tasty, sentient flesh they could. But how many corpses could have zombie plants in them? Apparently more then one.
She was unable to get the scream that died in her throat out before Maeve grabbed her in a manner she definitely didn't appreciate, and tossed her off to the side. She landed roughly on her side after getting caught up in the one vine the newest stranger's tail hadn't managed to sever.
She rolled onto her paws after a moment of collection and hauled herself up onto them. She stood still, beside the annoyed twitching of her tail, with her fur bristled. She twitched her ears backward as she stared at the corpse, ignoring the stranger who attacked the vines. After a few heartbeats her nose started to twitch and it almost felt as if her fur was vibrating with the amount of negative emotions that she had stewing under it. This wasn't any level of fun anymore and she wanted to go home .... now.
After standing and staring for several seconds, which felt like several lifetimes to the feline, she launched herself at the corpse that had attacked her and let loose another high pitched scream, this one having anger laced in with fear. When she landed she let loose on it with unsheathed claws, tears soaking into her fur as she let loose on it... punishing it in a way. [1 >.>]
I don't want to be in this story anymore!
____________
Nova lifted a front paw, balancing himself awkwardly on two legs, and gave Ted a few hard jabs in the ribcage to see if he'd wake up [2 wtf?] and when it didn't work he shrugged and started to explore the room. He made sure to veer far away from the corpses and the weird little feline before he stuck his nose to the ground again and started sniffing around on the floor to see if anything interesting came to his now blood free nostrils. [17?] His sniffing brought him under first one table and then the other, checking for any of those nifty trap doors before his ears started twitching a bit. Those damn voices.
Gah, stairs.... where could they be hiding?

The last remaining tendril seems to have taken not e of the extreme attack on its home. It reached out and pulled her face hard into the ribcage after it. A painful burning sensation ran through her entire body, as it attempted to suffocate her in the long dead flesh.
Corpse Curse: Good Lord! What did you put your face in!? Once a week, this girl will be compelled to answer when spoken to for a full three hours, and to tell the truth, regardless of what she would have hidden otherwise. The curse begins instantly once given and must be obeyed.
The monstrosity flailed her about, squishing her into different pockets of disgusting meat.

Karkat turned to face the Josiggy with somewhat wild and pained eyes, his mouth set into a firm line. As luck would have it, the girl had the sense to look at his injuries with the same appraising eye as his own and see exactly what the problem was.
This sort of wound was not fucking natural in the slightest. "It will grow back," he provided, somewhat cryptically, hefting his weapon for her to see. There would be no need for bandages, but they would double as a means to keep himself from needing to look at his own hideous stump of what had, at one point, been a hand. He made a noise of protest when she tore away at his shirt, lip curling in a snarl before he clearly seemed to decide it wasn't worth the effort, and really, he was thankful for having someone there to help. Besides, she hadn't done any damage to the part of the shirt that really mattered: Rank and Suit were both securely covered.
A sudden horrible commotion distracted him from his current task, and he hissed loudly as he swung his head to see what the fuck was going on. Was he surprised to see the Lakeland-mix-girl throwing a fit? Not really. Was he surprised that said fit led to her getting grabbed by some more impudent plant flagellum? Even less so. His own hand throbbed painfully as a reminder of something that mattered a lot more to him. He gritted his teeth and glanced back to Maeve. "Don't worry. I can handle it. Then I guess.. hnn... we can deal with... That."
There was a hint of humor in his tone, but it was hard to hear over the pain and vanished in a second. He took one of the makeshift bandages from Maeve, slipped it between his teeth, and raised his sickle. The enchantment active, he brought it down on his own arm, a few inches above where the damage ended. It took a moment for pain to hit him, but when it did, it hit like a fucking truck made out of fire and full of bees. Bees that had stings full of acid, and were also on fire. Sheer grubfuck rage alone kept him on his feet, let alone conscious (17), but he swayed dangerously for a moment before he managed to catch his balance. He'd seen blood before. Really. It wasn't any big... Oh, holy fuck. It was horrible. There was red everywhere, the smell of it all but invading his brain. As quickly as he could manage he wrapped the bandages around the stump, tying them tightly until the enchantment could kick in and staunch his bleeding. Numbness would set in soon enough too, if the thick blue liquid currently oozing from the weapon was any indication.
For the time being, he needed to eject everything in his stomach in that moment and then some.
As soon as that was done, he walked unsteadily back to the group. The blood dripping from the stump of his hand had slowed to a crawl already, and there was a tingling beginning to creep all the way up his arm. He paused a few feet away, watching with a completely blank expression as the vines smashed the kitten into the oozing corpse. He wanted to not enjoy the sight, but honestly? After cutting off his own hand to put a halt to a potentially horrible curse? Yeah. Yeah, it was pretty satisfying to watch. Remembering how the plants had responded to blood before, he picked up his own severed hand - and hurled it at corpse and girl, hoping the presence of new meat would distract it (8). "Then STOP FUCKING AROUND and let's get out of here."
This striking pair of weapons is highly stylish, and come with the wonderful bonus of never losing their razor-sharp edges! Once a day, they are enchanted with the ability to shear through bone as easily as if it was made of paper (will not work on the spine or skull). If a limb is removed, the wound will stop bleeding after five minutes, and in about a day the limb in question will grow back.
These blades also ooze a blue and mildly acidic blood when embedded in flesh. This blood burns and causes numbness in the affected limb of Cards ranked 8 and lower for 24 hours, while those ranked higher will experience a tingling as though asleep for a day.

She was distracted by anything and everything that had to do with, well... everyone else until the last remaining vine finished rubbing her nose in her failed attempts at vindication ... literally. She was a little dazed, but when she was spoken to, in a tone that made her want to slap the mix across the face as hard as possible, her tail, which was already puffed to maximum fluff, danced angrily behind her as she was flailed about by whatever the hell this thing was in the corpse. That was her only real intention, instead.... her mouth seemed to work on it's own free will.
Stop being such an insufferable prick and help me then!
surprise tingled through her, but it was short lived as she had a rather large distraction to contend with first, she'd get back to that weird sensation in a bit.... after she wasn't being pushed into squishy, disgusting pockets of gross.
She wiggled and tried again with her claws [16], and hoped they worked better then butter this time around.

Nova on the other hand, was completely engrossed in his search for the stairs and didn't notice anything [2] at all that was going on behind him. The stairs were calling far too loudly. his ears flipped back in mild agitation, so desperation sprinkled in the mix as well, as he reached the wall beyond the two tables.
Now at the wall farthest from where they came in, he started to paw at it to get a good feel for what was there.

Maeve was rather impressed. Even though he’d lost the contents of his stomach afterwards, the Card had managed to complete the necessary deed and remain conscious. It spoke of an incredibly strong will. Strange though, that he seemed to think the appendage would grow back, but perhaps it would; Cards were rather strange creatures.
She wrinkled her nose at the child; what in the White Rabbit’s name did the fool think she was doing? And after Maeve had saved her worthless hide, as well. Perhaps--necro-cannibilism? What a disgusting thought. Hysterics and a general lack of higher brain function was more likely.
“We did help you,” Maeve told the child quietly, “and you put yourself right back into trouble, purposefully even.” It didn’t feel quite right, but Maeve had no plans to touch either corpse, and the child had done nothing to endear herself regardless. Maeve could perhaps severe the remaining vine, but the chances of hitting the child were quite great, and Maeve really didn’t want to clean rotting flesh off herself either. “You can get yourself out of this mess, I think."

The girl was rolling in corpses and then her spoiled little ass started screeching like she was being stepped on and just what the fuck was that, OW! Grabbing at the kid, Felaria's hand touched one of those little bracers and it sent a shock all through her, jerking her backwards and leaving her dazed.
((Verified by Nat - The spell works on the attacker's intent. If there is no actual attack in mind, the fingers and nosebleed are not triggered. They are, however, left with a nasty shock and a backlash headache from the spell.))
She didn't much hear what was going on around her for a few minutes, her head ringing and her vision blurry. When she finally came back to herself, there was one hell of a plant mess in the room with some blood splattered everywhere and vine debris giving her the definite chills.
And then there was Karkat, walking back towards her with a stump of a hand, what the fuck and what she could only guess was his own blood dripping off of his sickle. And he was throwing his hand at the brat, who was still being a brat. Also being eaten by the torso of the dead thing.
Oh fuck in a bucket, why?!
Dragging herself to her feet, she gingerly shook her head. When the room didn't shake, flatten, or disappear, she turned her attention to the living plants that were cheerfully molesting the face of the girl. Oh, that shit was just wrong.
The child could die for all she fucking cared about her well-being, but she wasn't going to die like that. With a snarl, she moved forward to grab at the girl's tail and yank, walking deliberately backwards. Her Club strength remained active, so either the vine would break or the girl's neck would.
Either way...

Felaria's tug seems to have been a damn good one, helped by the child's flailing. No necks were broken, though the Feline's jaw was slightly sprained (it will simply be sore), as she came loose from vine and corpse. The vine swung out after the pair, but was hit, full force, with the drizzling mess of half of Karkat's arm. Wrapping tightly around it, it drew the bleeding mess into the corpse and fell still.
Felaria noticed a rather nasty sound coming from it...it could very well be draining the blood from that arm... Nova's pawing at the far wall seems to have located an odd protrusion in the stone...further revealing itself to be a...button of sorts. When the rest of the group turned around, they would notice a wall sliding silently ope...to reveal a flight of stairs moving upwards, a blast of cold, fresh air rolling down it.
Good thing too, seeing as that smoke was starting to roll down after them. A small brick fell out of place in the "door" and hit Nova squarely on the nose...a few little plinking sounds signified some loose change had been hidden there long ago. (12 unassigned p)

The second Felaria felt give from the vines, she yanked the girl around and let her own momentum swing her away from the mess. Hopefully into a wall or something. That way she could feel what her nasty little headache spell was already doing to the lizard-rat.
She rubbed her hands along her shorts to wipe off the fur. Her eyes remained glued - squinting, mostly - to the gruesome thing that had just devoured Karkat's severed arm. She spent a few seconds wondering why in hell he would have done that to himself before she heard something and felt a sudden gust of cold blow in from somewhere.
Whipping around, she gave the stairs a good, long, surprised look. Well, that air smelled a hell of a lot better than this air for certain. Hopefully the mentally handicapped canine would shut the fuck up when they went up.
"Let's just git the fuck outta here," Felaria muttered in disgust, holding the torch out in front of her and slowly ascending. She paused a few steps up and turned. "Aw shit, Ted. Why you gotta be so fat? Karkat, you take the light. Don't drop it. Sorry. Dog, you take his feet..."

Behind Felaria, Karkat, and Nova, the stairs suddenly gave way! Poor Maeve wasn't able to grab onto anything and fell through, down into the darkness below and away. The depth seems almost a little...implausible, what on earth brought that on?!? Looks like Soph is going to have to either jump that step, or stop following this group, though where else she would go, there's not much idea.
Meanwhile, Between Felaria and Nova, Ted finally struggled into wakefulness.
"Wh'the? Ow! Damn 'n shit!" He screeched, clutching at the wound in his side and accidentally rolling his legs out of Nova's grip, hitting the stairs and causing an ominous rumble that not even a fat joke could cover. "Hell's goin' on? Where'd we end up? Fuck happened t'me?"

The hand was accepted. The simple sight of it vanishing into the writhing mass of corpse and vines was enough to make Karkat feel woozy all over again, even though the numbness had crept up the entirety of his arm and the bleeding had all but stopped. It was confirmation, though, that the plants meant fucking business.
He didn't even wait for the kitten to regain her composure once she'd been freed. He just turned to Felaria, accepted the torch from her, and nodded grimly. It was time to get the fuck out of here. They had managed to locate the goddamn stairs, so at least that would keep Nova happy. Even if it worried him to see what would be there, in the end. Maybe it would eat the dog and let the rest of them continue on, unmolested? Fat fucking chance. He glanced back at Felaria, exhaustion evident in his eyes. "You're a damn better person than I am," he grumbled, glancing back at the Feline with distaste obvious on his expression. He was glad to walk beside Felaria as they pulled and tugged Ted along, glad for company that wasn't obviously retarded.
A surprised yelp of terror escaped Karkat and he threw himself away from the opening chasm, shoving as hard as he could on Ted to try and push him out of harm's way without dropping the torch (14). He turned back to the hole just in time to see a flash of green fade into the darkness. "FUCK. FUCKING SHIT FUCK GODDAMN. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE FUCKING NEEDED." His heart pounded in his ears, the proximity to the gap leaving him reeling. Fuck. Holy fuck. Maeve was just... Gone.
"Fuck this. We need to get the fuck out of here." He took a step forward, eyes wide and ears pinned back. "Come on, c'mon..." His urging had a desperate tone to it. There didn't seem to be any guarantee that the stairs would hold.
