Kamina's ear twitched as her brother spoke.
She couldn't particularly tell if he was being serious or not. Quite honestly she didn't want to be "thrown to the wolves." At least that was what she thought someone had called it. Ultimately she didn't want to be smoked today while she still had a sense of what up and down was.
And she highly doubted anyone would be afraid of her brother tattling. Otherwise they would be able to get away with so much more.
"No, I don't want to be bait." She said with a huff. "I just want something to eat. And since I didn't have breakfast this morning I don't think anyone would argue with giving us food. So we don't have to sneak. And I really don't want to have people try to smoke me right now. They don't listen to anyone when it comes to smoking me."
She bounced slightly on her feet when she spoke. The tip of her tail was puffed up as it thrashed a bit on the ground. Her stomach growled in protest of her just standing there. But she couldn't go into the kitchen without help. She didn't remember much when she was high, but she remembered the various occasions when she had tried to say "no" when she wasn't and how they desperately tried to appeal to her.
Not today. Not right now.

So wrapped up in his grand ideas was Enkidu that the thought that he would be making a sacrifice of his sister - which was really what he was doing, though he didn't exactly realize that either - didn't ever seem to him to be something that she could object to. In his world, it would work flawlessly, and nothing but good could come of it.
That meant that when Kamina began to protest, Enkidu's confusion quickly slipped into anger. His eyes narrowed and his ears pinned themselves against his neck, a line of hair along his back raising ever so slightly. This just wasn't right. It wasn't how things went. He suggested things, and Kamina and Simun - they followed. They went along with it. They all had fun when things went well. This - standing here and bitching - this wasn't fun. A quiet hiss escaped the hybrid.
"...You know what. Fine. Whatever. You go ask them for food and cry yourself to sleep when they decide to smoke you anyway." His tail ballooned up as he spoke, the hairs standing on end. "I'm just going to go to Daddy's room. He's always happy to see me. If you want to join me after you go get your food you can, but I'm not going to wait around." The boy tossed his head, rose, and began to stalk away.
Weakly, Simun tried to protest. "Bro, wait, you don't need to..." His voice trailed off as he watched the King stalk away. The only indication that Enkidu had even heard his brother was the way his tail lashed just a little bit faster. Simun fell back onto his rump, the corners of his mouth turning down. Then, gently, he bumped his head against Kamina. "I'll go with you to get food. When we get to Daddy's he'll have cooled down again. He always does."

Kamina was not amused.
When it came to stability, Kamina had just about zero. At the moment since she was feeling particularly sober and particularly hungry, she was starting to get grumpy. And she didn't want to "play along" to her brother's expectations. Because heaven forbid she have some sort of her own free will.
The hair along her neck stood up as she listened to Enkidu's words. Her ears pulled back as she arched her back slightly. It wasn't like she could tackle him to the ground. It wasn't like she could do much against her brother. And right now she hated it.
A growl escaped her as he started to walk away. She wanted to snap at him. She could feel the heat growing in her face. Why did he always have to be so stubborn? Why did he always have to get his stupid way? "I'm allowed to be my own person, Enkidu!" she called out with a slight hiss.
She wasn't going to be stepped on by her brother when she had her wits about her. The cat looked to Simun, still puffed up, but her ears were drooping rather than being forcefully pulled back. "Thank you," she sighed as her stomach growled. Her tail stay puffed up as started walking in the direction of the kitchen. "Sorry I spoil everything."

The worst part of all of it was that Enkidu was well aware of the fact there was nothing she could do about it. It was different from Simun, who simply wouldn't do anything about it, but it was almost better that way. At least Kamina had some spirit, even if her body kept her from acting on it. That didn't keep the kitten from feeling entirely pissed off, of course, and his tail lashed all the way down the hall towards the kitchen - the back door, of course. It was going to be harder without his siblings to help him, but Enkidu was sure he could manage to sneak food out and get into Daddy's room before anyone was any the wiser.
Simun's ears folded back again, out of concern more than worry. "Hey... Hey, don't apologize," he said, trotting along beside her. A bright smile wormed its way onto his face, his posture relaxing fully. Of course he had to pick up the pieces. It wasn't that he minded, exactly, more that he wished it wasn't needed in the first place. "Nothing is spoiled except Enki's stupid idea. We'll get some food and when we make it to Daddy's room, he'll be back to normal."
The kitchens were right in front of them. Simun opened the door for his sister, waiting for her to slip inside before he followed along.

"I hope so..." Kamina said with a quiet sigh. She couldn't understand the relationships they had. Enkidu seemed to think that it was better when she always went along with his plans--which she suspected that most of the time she just wandered off half way through.
She glanced at her brother. She had half a thought to ask him why he put up with either of them. How could anyone put up with someone who couldn't have a coherent conversation half the time?
And then they arrived at the kitchen. She was happy that he opened the door for her. If he hadn't been leading the way she probably would have walked right into it. Though she was "sober" she sometimes failed to pay attention to where she was actually going.
"Thanks," she said with a cheerful note as she padded past her brother. The kitchen was far busier than she expected. But of course, someone noticed her and her smell as she walked in. Her tail curled as she waited for her brother.

Sure enough, as his siblings made it to the main doors to the kitchen, Enkidu was slipping out the back, a barely-cooked steak held tightly in his beak. This prize was freaking awesome, even if his stupid siblings hadn't helped him to get it. It just meant he wouldn't need to share - he'd stolen it all on his own! Well. If Daddy was there, and he asked for a bite, Enkidu would probably have to give him at least a little. It was Daddy, after all.
Distracted as he was by their little journey, Simun was oblivious to the look that his sister had given him, and even more oblivious to her thoughts. The idea that he could possibly not put up with them had never entered his mind - he was their brother, after all, and siblings stuck together. Even when one of them was stoned most of the time and the other could be a right jerkface. He loved them both. "Right. Let's get some food. Maybe they'll have cookies."
A hopeful thought. He slipped into the kitchen behind his sister. The thought that they could be smelled a mile away never occurred to him - he'd spent all his life with his rather odorous siblings, and even if it wasn't a smell he shared, he hardly noticed it any more. Really, he only noticed it when Enkidu pounced on him or Kamina sighed in his face. "Can we get lunch? Kamina is hungry, and I am too." The kitten asked sweetly, giving the nearest worker a bright smile.

Kamina put on the best pathetic kitten face she could manage as her brother sweetly asked one of the nearest workers. She chimed in, sounding as pathetic as she looked, "I missed breakfast and Mommy said we should come here by ourselves because she was busy."
The canine worker was holding a rather large tray of uncooked baked goods, and was a little surprised to be assaulted by a horrible scent shortly followed by a voice. They shifted the tray to follow the voices.
The Queen and King's misfits. Only two of them? What happened to the really loud one? He set the tray down on the rack before actually responding to the pair of them. "Of course. As long as you don't expect sweets or anything," He looked down at both the kittens, still trying not to wrinkled his nose at the smell. He didn't know how everyone else was able to stand it, the high must have been amazing. "Would you two like some cheese steaks? We're fixing a few right now and you'll be the first to get them if you just give it a few minutes."
Kamina perked at the mention of cheese steaks. Cheese in particular. Really she would eat just about anything if it was covered in cheese. She had made a near life threatening mistake. Thankfully she knew better than to eat apples now. She glanced at her brother with very wide and hopeful eyes, "Can we wait for them?"

When Enkidu reached his father's door, it was open. There was no sign of the man, however, or any of his rather frequent lady-guests. That was good. Enkidu never liked having to explain that he was the King's son, especially since sometimes, the lady-guests actually got angry with him. Feh. He didn't understand why, not in the slightest. He bumped the door with his butt once he'd stepped inside, closing it behind him. Then he sat down to start in on his meal. Mmmm. Steak. And steak without being bothered - best of all.
Good, Simun didn't really recognize this one. That meant he likely hadn't been one of the ones who had tormented his sister in the past - her lack of worry just helped cement that fact in his mind. "We don't need sweets, just lunch," he said happily. "Thank you." Cheese steaks did sound good, especially if they were fresh. Best of all, he knew Enkidu wouldn't be getting something like that... Maybe he could share a bite, if his brother was willing to behave.
His attention shifted back to his sister, and he nodded. "Of course! If we have to wait, it just means Enkidu will have more time to relax." That would make things better for all of them. "Can we get three sandwiches, please?" Then they would have something for Daddy when they found him.

"All right, three it is! I'll be back in a bit," the canine said with a smile and a polite bow before walking off to accomplish his goal. Even he had to admit (despite the fact that the girl smelled awful, good suits) they were kind of adorable and well mannered children. He wished all of them behaved this well when they came for a visit.
Kamina wiggled a bit in anticipation. Cheese and steak. To very yummy things, and the best part was there was no way Enkidu could have gotten any as good as this by sneaking around. When you asked nicely people were more than happy to deliver.
Then she had a thought that popped into her head. "Do you think Daddy's going to be upset if we stay in his room to eat if he's not there?" He probably would notice that they were there. The smell might not have been as strong to people who were used to it, but it was impossible to miss,

The steak was finished, and Enkidu was bored. There was still no sign at all of either his father or his siblings, and he didn't really have anything to do while he waited for them to turn up. His tail flicked agitatedly from side to side and he flopped onto his side, staring at the wall. There was a heat vent there. It looked like an awesome place to hide things, at least from where he was sitting... This warranted further investigation.
It was hard not to be happy, with the man getting them fresh - hot and melty and greasy - food for lunch and his sister practically wiggling from glee beside him. That happiness manifested as a quiet - but certainly audible - purr, and he started to knead at the ground he was standing on. Even though he'd eaten breakfast, he was still feeling hungry on top of it all, and the smells in the kitchen were just divine. A wide and happy grin settled onto his face - just a little awkward around the edges, but hopefully no one would notice that.
When his sister spoke, Simun blinked and looked at her. "I don't think so. He's never seemed unhappy to have us in his room before." But then, they'd never spent time there without him. "Except when he has ladies over." That part, the kitten didn't really understand. He'd sort of assumed that the more, the merrier, but their father had often been quick to give them somewhere else to be when he had the washer-lady in his room. Odd. His ears flattened for a moment, but then he heard footsteps. The sandwiches must have been done!
