It was a long walk home for the small sorgiarian child and every step was filled with pain. Pain from her wounds and pain from being exiled from the palace of hearts. Her eyes were now red and blood shot and her head was pounding from the tears she had cried. How long had she sat there in front of the gates just looked at the towering white walls and the tiny glimpse of the red and yellow roses? Just sitting there watching not paying any mind to the eye balling stares she was receiving from the guards when they had received word to not let her in. They didn’t chase her away, they only watched her actions and her tears as they flowed from her eyes as she though about the entire thing she was going to miss in that place even though she hadn’t been there for very long. Dymphna and Temmin…she was going to miss them the most. There were very few people that she could have talked to and what was worse was the others just scared her or pushed her away. Her thoughts suddenly went to the lowlander she had encountered on her way to the palace. He scared her and his look and mannerisms weren’t that of just wanting to place fear in her heart. She had a feeling that it was more that he wanted from her. If that was the case though then why didn’t he take it? Or why didn’t he just ask? Why did he threaten her to the point where she had literally ran the rest of the way to the palace.
Finally, she approached the cave that she shared with Sebak and in which they called home. He had a fire going which was now that he had hands in which one could be made. Nights before had been very cold and damp, but this helped take that edge off. She didn’t look at him when she came in and didn’t say a word, she just made and attempt to head to her little corner near the back of the cave.
“Where have you been? Here.” Sebak watched her as she entered the cave and tried to make her way to the back. She stopped in her tracks and looked at him with red blood shot eyes and tear stained feathers. She looked at what he was telling her to take. It was a small plate of rabbit meat...nothing compared to what she had eaten earlier and in which she was also still full from.
“I don’t want it…I’m not hungry…I just want to sleep…” was all she said as she continued her way to the back of the cave. Sebak watched her and in his usual manner poked at her mannerisms like he usually did.
“What’s your problem Pest? Did you crash and go boom while flying today?” she sneered at her and awaited the usual fiery intense response from her. She just shook her head while still walking and mumbled under her breath.
“No…but I don’t want to talk about it…just leave me alone Sebak…”
“Fine crybaby see if I care anyway…” he replied snidely at her but still got no rise out of the child. With his last remark and the fact that she had reached where she was headed she crawled on her make shift bed of grasses and leaves and laid there silently until sleep finally took her.
