Sebak had come back to the cave in the middle of her pregnancy and completely flipped out. He had paced back and forth for hours while Maji shifted about uncomfortably in her bed. She did not know who the father of her unborn brood was at that time and Sebak did not ask either. All she knew is that he did not drink any more and it seemed he was actually doing some thing productive for once.
Once the eggs had been laid she waited anxiously for the day when they would hatch. She had been especially curious about the bigger of the two. When the smaller egg began to crack, she watched with intensified curiosity. She needed to know who the father was, but when she saw the blue mixed with brown and the horribleness that was a mix of her region and breed, she had to stifle back a scream. She noticed blue eyes, eyes like her own gracing the face of the small disgusting mix as he looked up to her face with innocent eyes. She tried her best not to cry as her heart sunk and she thought she knew who that father of both of her children were. She sat some distance away from her nest as she continued to watch the other unhitched egg. Slowly a small crack began to appear and she inched closer with a small hope that it would at least look like her. When there was finally a crack big enough for Maji to peek inside she saw the blues and purples of her region and fur, she relaxed a little as she waited for it to break out of its tiny prison. Minutes seemed like hours as she continued to ignore he first born and slowly the second egg became a furry ball of fluffy and feathers. She sighed a little and slowly helped him out of his shell all the while thinking that he would just be a pure sorgairen mix of her own eagle breed and that disgusting lowlanders vermin. His face was hidden underneath his paws but as she removed the shells, he fell forward, opened his eyes, and lifted his head. He looked at her with blue eyes, the same eyes he shared with his brother, yet it was not his eyes she stared at, it was his facial features. He, he looked like Ashwin, that rodent was not this one’s father. The tears of revulsion turned to tears of relief and of joy as they fell down her feathered face. She picked up her second born and held him close. He was perfect and he was her’s. She cooed at the larger of the two babies, but as she tried to forget about the other child, he kept creeping into her mind. She did not have the heart to kill him, as much as she did not want him around, she just could not end the tiny babies life.
She continued to think as she looked at the region mix with disgust and she held her other beautiful pure son in her arms. Awful memories of that early morning came rushing back to her. She remembered his father…he had promised that he would find her when she became an adult and he had held true to his word. She tried her best to push the horrible memories from her mind as the tears began to form in her eyes. She held her son closer and traced the contours of his face with her clawed hands gently. What could she do about her unwanted child? She did not want to find his father, no, she never wanted to see him again and she just wanted to forget that morning. Maybe she would ask Sebak to deal with the child for her. What would he do with it? If she did ask him, would he kill it? Would he leave it somewhere to die? She shook off those feelings as she stood up with her son, whom she decided to call Aeron, and walked over to her sleeping area. She gathered some of her belongings and placed them into a small bag that she had kept from her quest for the queen of hearts and her banders. She grabbed her blanket, swaddled the boy in it, and made her way into the city. She wanted and needed to see Ashwin…she could not stay here in this cave any more. She she continued to put distance between herself and the the cave, she could still hear the small-unwanted thing inside squealing for warmth and comfort. She forced back tears as she ran away into the approaching night clutching her chosen son to her breast.
