Okay, so they're not 'rules' because I'm never going to enforce them. XD I just want to put a few suggestions out there to help me keep this board tidy, relevant, and sane.
If you can fit it and know beforehand, put the date of your hiatus's beginning and end? Obviously if it's a general hiatus then you won't be able to do that. <3 Which is of course just fine. It lets me know how 'recent' a hiatus post is, is all.
Once you're back from the hiatus, maybe note that in the thread and/or change the title so I know it's okay to delete the post a month or two down the road when I go through a cleaning sweep?
...that's all I can think of right now. XD Heh. If you ever want me to delete a hiatus thread early because you're back-back and don't want people to think otherwise, just poke me here or in a PM and I'll be glad to.

Hey guys, just to throw it out there, since someone did it to me while I was on hiatus a short while back.
Putting up one of these notices is in essence to inform people of an absence, or a slowing of pace. When someone puts up a hiatus and you see it, that usually means that they won't be replying to threads as frequently, if at all, during a given period.
It's really, really bad manners to poke someone about a reply while they're on hiatus. It puts a lot of pressure on them to churn out posts, whatever may or may not be going on in their life at the time, and that's quite probably stress they don't need, especially if they already told the board at large that they would be slow/nonexistent for a little while.
So next time you go to poke someone about being slow to post, or whine at them about how they're holding things up, please check to see whether they have an active hiatus thread and take that into consideration, yah? Otherwise... well. It's really rude. :/
