Theofilus felt quite short as of present, however he quickly got over that feeling when Cerevanna so kindly shared her new clothings origin with him. The sparrow's eyes widened as he stared at her in disbelief. That bitch. She was going to pay for every bit of her pride. It took all of Theofilus' will power not to close the distance between them and smack her with his cane so hard that she wouldn't see straight for a week.
His whole body tensed with silent rage as she moved away from him. He had no idea what her powers were and what she was capable of. Did a sparrow even stand a chance against a pine martin? Well, it was a good thing Theofilus decided to learn some more magic.
The whistle blew, but Theofilus didn't jump straight into action physically. He concentrated on his power, hoping that it would work properly on the other Queen. He was going to make her suffer for everything he possibly could.
Now. He just needed to test this whole thing. He gripped his cane tightly, it was the best weapon he had physically, and with as much grace and power he could muster he rushed forward. This woman was not a Lady in any sense of the word.
"Let's see how far your pride takes you!" Theofilus growled. Please, let this work. She just needed to hit him without dealing fatal damage.

Cerevanna could see the man's eyes flare as she showed off her new garments...good, let him get worked up over the precious animals..hopefully that would cause him to make a mistake.
Even as she thought this the man leapt toward her.
Perfect...
What a fool.
She whipped her hand forward, her jack's ability coming into play as she swiftly dodged the raised cane and brought her fist slamming as hard as she could in the direction of his chest.
(Note: Her Jack's Ability is to hit someone with three times the force she would be able to normally 3 times a week <3)
Her face was twisted into a delighted grin, soon this fool who valued the lives of stupid animals over real people would learn the meaning of real agony!

There was no way he could dodge something like that in mid-step. The sparrow would have let out an exclamation of pain, but it hurt to much to do anything but let out a horrified squeak.
He really wasn't built for physical fighting. The mind numbing pain in his chest screamed at him as he stumbled backward, trying to catch himself with his cane. As tears welled up in his eyes all he could do was think about how he wished that she could feel the own pain that she was dishing out. He really hoped that his nerves could connect with hers just for that. Her strength had to be an ability there was no way in hell that she could hit that hard. NONE. This hurt entirely too bad for it to be anywhere near normal.
Take a defensive stance and use your summoning ability. That's the only way. Wait. No. He didn't want to use that option just yet. All he needed was a distraction so he could at least get a swing in.
It wasn't exactly a room, but she was close enough that it might not matter. It was a minor ability, but five seconds was really all he needed to swing at her head. Mist. As best he could, the sparrow swung again, hoping that the cold would do something to distract the other Queen.
He just wasn't sure how well he could swing after being punched dead on in the chest with tears in his eyes. He could only hope to hit her head--or anywhere near it.

Cerevanna grinned, her overly pointed eyeteeth fully visible as she felt her fist connect with the man's chest hard!
She watched him stumble backwards and raised her hands with a flourish in preperation of her Kings ability...
When she froze.
An unimaginable pain had just shot through her chest...as though one of her ribs had cracked.
"Unh...?"
She managed, trying not to move too much, too confused at first to even think. He hadn't even hit her! How?
She watched, eyes moving without her head, the way that his hand cradled an area of his own chest...
NO!!
No, this couldn't be! He could transfer pain!?
Cold. Sudden, incredible cold that caused her to shiver violently and yelp at the pain that caused, her head jerked to the side as she tried to see where it came from.
And received a blow along her collar bone from the cane.
Gasping in shock she nearly spun in a full arc before hitting the ground, she lay there for a few seconds, practically petrified, before she initiated another ability.
Shooting very suddenly up into the air, she activated her ability to fly. Raising one arm over her head with a scream of pain and outrage, she flung her fist toward him.
Everything would go black.
((Note: Her King's ability is to blind one other creature for twenty four hours once per week <3))

Ataxia crept in during the battle, taking a seat at the sidelines. She remembered the hastily-written letter sent by her friend, speaking of how Theofilus would be fighting for leadership of the Court. She could almost hear his frantic squeaking as she read over the words and she decided then that she would go there herself, to the Court of Diamonds, to support him. The fight had already started, but it didn't seem so far along that there was an advantage either way...She watched the two combatants. The one in the furs had to be the reigning Queen, with all that fancy garb. The Ace markings on the furs caught her attention immediately. A low growl issued from her throat. That was it. Theofilus had to win this. The punch delivered to the sparrow made Xia noticeably cringe. That had to hurt...but wait. It looked like the other Queen was just as effected than he was. Then mist...and a strike to the reigning Queen! She was taking off! Her tail wagged furiously. ...Until that punch went out, but that couldn't do too much...could it? Theofilus could handle that no problem, she was sure of it. Or at least hoped it. ((Sorry I'm a little late ^^;; School and such.))

This was the reason why Theofilus absolutely hated concept of physical combat. He had no time to recover from even though she hit the ground in a marvelous display. He hardly expected her to recover as quickly as, and then with a horrible shriek from his opponent everything went black.
Oh. No. She was coming towards him and he probably wouldn't have time to dodge whatever she was planning. Regardless of his ability to transfer pain he was pretty sure she was to angry care.
Screw this. Screw waiting. He wasn't going to be able to fend her off while being completely blind. The idea of being beaten to a bloody pulp didn't sit well with him. He bit his lip as he automatically stood in a position of defense (even if it wouldn't do a damn thing he was sure of it) and thought about his last option.
Summon two nasty little birds with all of his will power and all that he could muster. Hopefully they would tear at her neck, assuming she didn't have ice magic up her sleeve or something. Theofilus really didn't want to die.
This being blind thing. He knew how his kids felt.

Cerevanna hissed through her teeth, trying to keep her breath under control while the pain ate at her, hopefully this would be over soon...
She watched the man below her blanch slightly, his expression changing...and she knew she had succeeded, the other Queen was blind. hadn't been expecting that, had he?
Turning her body in the air so as not to injure her aching ribs and collar bone, she began to move slowly down toward him, readying one of her next attacks...when the area around Theofilus began to darken. She looked at the smoky substance roiling up from the ground quizzically for a moment before good sense took over and she shot up another ten feet. Circling warily.
The smoke became darker, roiling arounf the Sparrow's feet rolling and shifting until it very suddenly exploded upward, slpitting in two as it went.
Slowly as they crested their height and began to veer downward again, their shapes became visible.
Horrible, demonic birds, their gaping beaks filled with razor sharp teeth. They made no sound, but Cerevanna's shreik was enough. They both closed in on her and in a panic she shot her Queen's ability at them. A thick, blistering ray of pure heat leapt from each of her palms toward the birds...and passed right through them, their beaks opened further as though they were laughing at her and her eyes widened in shock.
Then they collided with her.
"Aiiiiiiiiiee! What IS this?! I can't- NO!!!!"
The Pine Marten shreiked as the teeth began to slowly shred at her pale skin, through her blue dress... she swooped downward, aiming at the other Queen, hitting the ground at a run that jarred her ribs, she ran up to him and belted him hard between the legs.
The birds were zooming in close behind her, but she flew up again, her movements faster than they for the moment. She smiled smugly, blood oozing down her face as she crowed to herself for outsmarting the spell. How could she feel pain in organs she did not posses?
......When the pain finally did hit her, it was enough to drop her to the ground from shock.
She tried to pull herself upright when the birds hit her again. Shrieking in pain and terror, she tried to wave them off...but her hands went right through them.
"No! NO!"
((If you leave her like this, she'll keep going, she's by no means dying yet. <3 But I can tell you that all of her abilities are spent XD))

The vermin, in all his snooping, had caught word of the challenge and, as he'd been snooping in the Diamonds Court it's self, decided to stay for the battle. This battle was, actually, very important to him, his future plans depended on him being here and seeing what was going on and, of course, studying both sides closely. He may of only had the rank of Jack, but he could tell he was very close to his Kingship, very close indeed... and after that, well, he had every intention on going for his rightful place in life. Purposely, and fashionably late, as to draw the least attention, the bi-pedal rat crept in and found himself a seat to himself to watch the rest of the battle unfold. An amused, and somewhat sadistic smirk had placed it's self firmly upon his muzzle as golden eyes studied the opponents. He knew some about both fighters, but he knew not of their abilities and what better way to learn then to see them in action? This had every component necessary to be a good fight, especially as the two Queens were virtual opposites. Yes, should be a good fight indeed. [[ Sorry, had to... XD ]]

Iria watched the battle, hir eyes widening in surprise when Cerevanna suddenly faltered, as if she herself had been struck by the powerful blow the Pine Marten had dealt. Not only that, but when the mist sprang up around Theofilus and filled the room, the shudder from the cold had to have bothered her immensely, jarring whatever wounds she had taken. Iria hirself shivered hard, regretting her lack of fur in her Human form, though that fur had never been all that thick anyway, and probably wouldn't have provided much more insulation from the cold than hir dress did.
Absently she noted the arrival of a few other spectators, though hir attention didn't seem to waver from the fight going on in the midst of the Courtyard. This was...rather important to hir. Very, very important, really. Hir face stayed expressionless from long practice, though part of hir rather badly wished that shi had started out with hir small smile instead, as that would be far easier to maintain over a long while. Then again, with the speed that this battle was going at, shi might not need to maintain that non-expression much longer. Theofilus had staggered back, body language suddenly going hesitant, while Cerevanna flew above him, carried by the Diamond ability the Queens all shared. And then...those creatures arrived, forming from mist and shadows on either side of Theofilus to launch themselves at the other Queen. Even Iria could hardly help the short shriek that escaped hir, jerking back from those frightful apparitions as even Cerevanna's Queen's ability was proved useless, and they attacked. No matter what the Queen did, Iria had the feeling that the old Queen, the one who used to rule the Court, was going out, and that the Lakelander before her was to be The Queen in her place.
