[ooc: *shifty eyes* Please hum/sing the Pink Panther theme song while reading this. ^_^] It is, in fact, very, very, very difficult for a giant, white-and-black otter to hide behind an ornamental tree, especially when said otter was wearing bells. Strangely enough, Harlequinn seemed to be succeeding at that very task to a surprising degree. In fact, if anyone were to look at her, her entire form would seem to be...blurred, as if she wasn't quite there. Eyes seemed to slide off of her form unless the viewer made some sort of effort to notice her there, hiding behind her ornamental tree. Black eyes were fixed very, very intently upon the red-and-blue form that marked a very specific resident of the Forest of Kahmden that happened to go by the name of Vessatha. For a moment, Harlequinn transfered her gaze to Liv and stuck out her tongue tauntingly, then looked back at Vessa. Oh, her pretty, pretty Vessa. Vessatha. Vessie? No, that was too childish a name for her lovely one. Vessa was much better, and Vessatha the best. As the pair got a little too far from her for her own tastes, she pressed herself low to the ground and snuck from her current ornamental tree/hiding place to the next one along the street.

Vessatha pranced happily along next to the badger, though she tried to keep most of the bounce out of her step. She didn't quite succeed, as it was hard for her to keep tabs on how she was presenting herself.. especially when she was in a good mood. After a few moments of contented silence, the ferret paused for a second, sure she heard something strange.. and far too familiar. Bells? Bells that that otter had been wearing. Harlequinn! Suspicious now, Vessatha glanced around, but didn't immediately see anything. So the ferret summoned Feyeza, and the tove appeared and wrapped herself lightly around Vessatha's neck. The slithey didn't appear worried, but gave her a nudge around the neck and a mental note that confirmed her suspicions--the otter was, indeed, around. Thankfully, the otter's weird powers didn't hide her from Fey.. which was a good thing, because Vessatha really needed advance warning to prepare. She realised Liv was speaking to her, and brought herself back to more of reality in order to respond. "Is it? That's good. How busy do you think it'll be?" While the question might have sounded innocent enough, it had an ulterior motive--the more people, the easier it was for Quinn to hide.. and whether or not that was a good thing she had yet to decide.

[OOC: Yay! a new person! I hummed the crap out of the Pink Panther theme and have it stuck in my head now. xD OMFG! A badger, a ferret, and an otter?! It's the mustelids only thread! xD) Liv had probably heard the bells, but they stood out to her no differently than any of the other sounds of the city and were equally disregarded. She was a bit surprised when Vessatha summoned a slithey! Well, that was totally cool, but was it necessary? "Um, pardon my asking, but..." she looked at the slithey, assuming the question would speak for itself ('wtf you do that for?!') "Do summoned creatures need to be fed?" she asked, guessing Vessatha's intent. Every once in a while she would come across a person that could summon, but had never seen them fed. "I don't know. I think they're more of a dinner crowd, so the lunch rush should be relatively un-rushy. If crowds bother you, we can go somewhere else. We really have our pick of places on this street."

Stalkity, stalkity, stalkity... Yes, Harlequinn was stalking her obsession. She knew it, too. She didn't care if other people knew it, either, but it was the principle of the thing that kept her hiding, even after she was fairly sure that Vessatha knew that she was there. Oh look, a pretty little Slithy Tove... When did she get that? She hadn't had it the last time she'd seen her obsession. Something had happened that she had missed!!!
The drama was overwhelming. Too bad Quinn had never thought to take up acting, she'd have been absolutely brilliant at it.
Nothing much had really happened, other than the two of them continuing forward, and so she once again crept to another tree, ignoring the Highland canine who was staring at her with a combination of disgust and confusion. He could go rot in a stew for all that she cared. She had her lovely obsession.

Distracted by her half-search for Harlequinn, Vessatha was surprised by Liv's question. Did slithey toves need to be fed? "I really have no idea, actually. She just appeared the other day.. I haven't tried feeding her. I suppose I might as well try today, though, just in case I should.." She replied.
Well, that could be bad. Vessatha could have been slowly starving poor Fey to death and wouldn't have known any better--until the tove just dropped off and died. Fey seemed amused by her train of thoughts, if the wiggling was any indication.
Vessa was still glancing around as they continued walking, and she was keeping an eye out around them for any sudden movement. The ferret would have been glancing back every three seconds if it weren't for Liv--she didn't want to seem more suspicious than she already did.
This time, though, she actually saw Harlequinn move. It wasn't much, just a flash of a sleek white and black body accompanied by a tinkle of bells, but it was enough for someone that was looking for her.
Vessatha's eyes narrowed, and then she rolled them--she was almost amused, but mostly annoyed. She was getting stalked.
Crowds? Oh, right, crowds. "No, crowds are good. Feyeza likes the noise." Vessatha had no idea if Fey liked the noise or not, but it seemed like a good of an excuse as any.

Liv watched in amusement as the tove wiggled. What a neat creature. Liv might like very much to have one, if they were useful. She hadn't really paid much attention to summoned creatures. I wonder if a Club could get one? she wondered.
"We'll see when we get there. I've only been by this place once before, but never inside. We'll see if it's crowded for your... friend...?" she wasn't exactly sure what to call the relationship between them. They walked up to the front door and looked inside. It was moderate. Not too crowded, but not by any means empty. Liv indicated the inside with her head. "This alright? ...Um, are you ok? You've been a little, I dunno, a little different for the past few minutes..." She probably just needs to eat... Liv thought.

[Shini told me to reply first. =)]
Recognizing that the badger knew something was up, Vessatha pulled herself fully back into reality, and tried to forget that the otter was there.
Then again, the random tinkling of bells was hard to ignore. Just like the flashes of black and white were.. but hopefully Quinn wouldn't approach them, because it would be.. interesting to try to explain to Liv their odd relationship. (Could you even call it a relationship? Vessa had no idea.)
"Oh, her name is Feyeza. You can call her that or Fey if you'd like." She responded with a smile, as Fey lifted her head at her name. "Yeah, it's fine. Fey can pretty much deal with anything."
Different? Well, yes, one tended to become slightly paranoid when one was being stalked by a freakin' weird otter. So yes, you could say she was acting different. "Was I? Sorry, Fey was just distracting me." The ferret followed Liv into the restaurant, pleased to note that it was moderately busy. It had light enough traffic that they were seated immediately.. and Feyezu slithered onto the table in order to curl up around the table lamp, of all things.
The slithey tove was weird sometimes. Vessatha, on the other hand, was keeping an eye out on the empty (and the full, for that matter) tables, looking for the otter.. she had a sinking feeling that the otter was going to pounce any second.
A toothy grin from Feyezu only confirmed that.

((Hello all! Here you go, this is just to introduce him to the thread, so you can ignore for now if need be ^ _ ~)) He was bored again and in a strange mood. Shortly after waking up this morning he had left Minh and Mnem to deal with the children, finding that he had no patience for their mischief. Whip was currently back at his court taking care of his Kingly duties. He had contemplated going back to the Court of the Clubs to see how all faired, but the idea of traveling and having to deal with court politics just killed the idea in the bud. What he really needed was to get drunk. Yes, that would suit all his troubles. Maybe later he would muster up the initiative and go gather Minh up for a night of drinking. That was always an event and usually more amusing then just sitting and pouting. Putting his glass down, he had already finished his food some time ago, he glanced up as new patrons seated themselves at the table next to his. Eyeing them with little more then curiosity, noting the badger and ferret, who seemed to have a Tove familiar. Seeing nothing else that caught his attention he glanced at Juris, his own Tove, who occupied the space on the table across from him. The Tove seemed to be entertaining himself, wriggling in the air and making that strange chirping noise that appeared to be his way of communication. Turning back to his glass of wine he sighed. He really was feeling down, blast it all. Something interesting needed to happen.

She'd slipped in the door when someone had held it open for someone else, politely sliding around the edge so that she didn't trip anyone, and then entering the restaurant. From there, she stood up as straight as she could, trying her best to look proper, and let herself come back into focus. When the hostess approached her to see if she wanted to be seated, the otter smiled gently and said, "No thank you, I'm meeting someone here. In fact, I think I see her over there! Pardon me..." With that, she moved gracefully toward the ferret and the badger, ignoring the slightly disturbed expression on the hostess' face when she realized that her chest was blank, and just what that meant...
Harlequinn's bells no doubt gave away her approach as she came toward the table where Liv and Vessatha were sitting, but she didn't let that stop her from slipping up behind the Forester, resting her head lovingly on a red shoulder, and smiling sweetly.
"Hello, sweetling. Do you think it would be too much trouble to ask for a chair for me?"

((Short post just to react to Harlequinn; for everyone's reference I'm placing this about a week after her first meeting with her, so she's quite a bit more comfortable with her. Also, yay, Aderlass!))
Vessatha let herself relax after a few minutes. Harlequinn might be coming, but she hadn't appeared yet, and in the end.. there was nothing she could do about it anyways. Quinn would do what Quinn wanted to do.
So she idly played with Feyezu while she talked with Liv. The ferret poked her tove with her napkin a few times, and grinned as the tove stared at it, then pounced and shredded it. It was cute, watching the tove behave like a small child.. with nice, pointy teeth.
As Fey suddenly looked up and stared at what seemed to be her shoulder, Vessa quickly became wary again. Almost immediately after she heard the short tinkle of those familiar bells, and then pop! A head was on her shoulder, and Harlequinn's black and white face was grinning at her.
Vessatha initially shied away from the casual touch--she wasn't used to being touched, period--but forced herself not to completely break away. Instead she raised an eyebrow, rolled her eyes, then sighed. "Fine, fine, go sit."
Feyezu let out a little crow of amusement. Vessatha glared at her, then turned to Liv. "I suppose I should introduce you two. Liv, this is Harlequinn, Quinn, meet Liv. I'm trying to find a job, Quinn, and Liv was nice enough to get me some food--so do be nice?"
