Very simply, Vessatha needed a job. Jobs brought in money and money brought in various things she needed--such as food and shelter. Clean water she at least had no need of, as necessity seemed to have given her the ability to produce it.. or maybe that was just her rank up to an eight. Either way, she could drink herself silly, as she always seemed to overproduce.. but water would only get her so far. Needless to say, Vessie was looking a little scraggly after a few days sleeping and wandering around in the park and what parts of the city she could convince herself to venture through. She'd washed herself off to the best of her ability, but she likely had dark circles under her eyes from such poor sleep, and had to be getting skinny. So as soon as the sun graced the sky, Vessie set forth to the busier parts of the capital, and began her search for work. The first person she saw was a distinguished-looking gentleman with a very nice top hat. She stopped him with a paw wave in front of his face and very nicely asked, "Please, sir, do you have any work for me?" But he simply scowled at her and kept going. The second person she physically sat in front of.. it was a very portly feline, so it wasn't exactly hard. The woman literally plowed her over and kept going. (She was bipedal, though it was hard to tell...) After that one, Vessatha became quite a bit more cautious about who she approached. Maybe starting with the apparant-rich wasn't the best idea afterall.. The ferret gave herself a break, and sat in the shadows for a while, content to simply watch the people go by. After an hour or so no one had approached her--not that she expected it--so she forced herself to get up and go back out to the street. Vessie worked up her courage and approached the next decently dressed person she saw, "Hello? I'm sorry, this is dreadfully random, but do you happen to know of any work I can have?"

Liv had just treated herself to a spa day and looked FABULOUS! x3 She was just about to headed out and do more over priced tourist things when she was approached by a somewhat haggard-looking ferret. Liv shook her head. "I'm afraid not, I'm sorry... I'm leaving here in a few days, I have no work to give you..." and she really was sorry. truly and honestly. It was a bit of a downer to see someone so desperate on her vacation. She sighed, smiled, and put a paw on the ferret's shoulder. "But I'll be willing to treat you to lunch, if you'd like." she smiled kindly.

Hurrah! The badger didn't turn away, oh joys!--but she didn't have any work. Well, one out of two wasn't bad, was it? Vessie would just have to keep trying. Eventually someone would need help. Unless it was that kind of help, in which case they could just go stuff it, because her dignity had yet to totally, completely and/or utterly fail her.
Her expression was a mix of forlornment and exasperation, but at the mention of food she perked up. She didn't need work if she didn't have to pay for it, so she could avoid working for a little bit with another free meal! Vessie smiled greatfully, and nodded. "That would be wonderful, thank you. I'm Vessatha, you are?"
Perhaps she'd be able to find someone there that could offer her work.. and if she ate, maybe she'd look less scraggly and a bit more approachable.

Liv smiled.
"My name is Liv. I am pleased to meet you, Vessatha. Is there any place here in the city you're particularly fond of? Something you're in the mood for?" Well, other than simply "food", that is. Liv moved out of the center of foot traffic to allow others to pass, but still near by and giving due attention to Vessatha. She'd been taken off-guard by this approach that she didn't even think to move until now. How rude of me! she thought. She quickly went over in her mind her remaining budget for her time here (she didn't want to pull out her money and count it in front of a complete stranger, let alone one that was obviously in a bit of a financial fix! That, too, would be quite rude). She had enough for something of decent quality. Not too cheap, but not too over the top, either.

"Hello then, Liv." Vessatha said with a smile. The badger seemed quite friendly, but in a different way than Zane had--Zane was politely nice, but Liv had a bit more warmth to her. Places she liked? Well, she'd only been to the one cafe with Zane, and she had no idea how to get back.. or even what it was called, for that matter, so it wasn't going to do her much good. "I don't really know of any places, I'm knew here.. I could use some good noodles. Do you know of any good pasta places around here?" When you had a craving, you just had a craving.
As Liv moved off to the side, Vessie followed, and perched on her haunches next to her. She waited as the badger apparently thought for a while--which was fine, because as long as Vessie was getting food, she could wait forever.

Noodles did sound quite nice right about now. She went to a pasta place just the other day...
"Heh, this is probably going to sound very silly. I remember a pasta place, but don't remember exactly where it is. I think it's this way, but I'm not entirely sure. Walk with me a bit?"
It was a bit frustrating that should couldn't remember. She was a professional guide, after all! D: Well, maybe she could find some kind of landmark or a familiar street. A smell, even. She looked over the sad form of the other mustelid. Well, if she could get fed, she'd be more likely to get a job. More approachable and less crazy looking.
"So, Vessatha, what brings you to the city?"

Amused, Vessatha rose an eyebrow, but consented with a shrug and a nod. "Sure. I have nothing better to do, let me assure you." Technically "finding a job" was something better to do, but opportunity was hardly smacking her in the face.. so following the badger around was fine.. especially since Liv seemed to be just as lost as she was.
What brought her to the city? Well, that practically had "awkward" written all over it.. and perhaps a choir of schoolchildren crowing "oooooooh..." in the background as well. "Uh.." The ferret groped for a way to explain what had happened without making herself seem like an introvert with no people skills, so spent a few moments looking confused before she answered. "I had a few.. er.. problems with some of the people back home.. I guess I just needed a change.... of scenery?" Vessie's tone was so questioning of herself that it wouldn't surprise her if Liv was suspicious, but she could hardly say, 'Oh, the people back home are jerkoffs and kicked me out so I left.'

Liv was a little taken back by the way the ferret answered the question. She looked at her as she walked.
"I'm sorry," she apologized, "I didn't mean for that to be awkward for you. If you feel at all uncomfortable saying anything, don't! You owe me nothing, and it is neither my intent or my business to delve into your personal life. Don't bend over backwards for my curiosity..." She was silent for a little while, but Vessatha seemed like a very nice person and Liv wanted to get to know her.
After walking for just a bit, Liv saw a familiar landmark. Whether or not it was leading her to the correct place, had yet to be discovered. They approached it, stopped, and Liv took a look around. Yes. Down that way, another familiar landmark. She nodded in that direction and led the way.

((Sorry about taking so long to reply.))
A little embarrased at her strange reaction, Vessatha cringed a bit, but forced herself to calm down. "No, no.." She mumbled under her breath, then sighed. "It's fine, I'm.. just not used to getting asked that question, so I don't know how to reply, really. It's not your fault." Her tone was very adamant, as she was beginning to like the badger very much, and would be very annoyed if Liv felt guilty about something.
After a moment, Liv seemed to recognize where they were. Even if it wasn't where they wanted to be, it was better than being completely lost in this giant city. They could always ask, Vessatha supposed, but she was as bad as most males about not wanting to ask for directions.
Having found that she was in a contented state, the ferret's tail began to wiggle a bit.. but she quickly noticed and stopped it. No tail wiggling for Vessie.

(OOC: Don't worry too much about it ) Yes! This was it! Liv was sure she was going the right way. She wasn't an employed guide for nothing! The badger gave the other mustelid her full attention and nodded her head when she finished speaking. She didn't want to make this more uncomfortable than it already was by dwelling on the subject. "Alright then," she responded. She paused to think of something else to say. Back home, guiding people she didn't know, she was quite talkative, but that's because there was something to say about almost every nook and cranny of the place, even if it was just an amusing personal story to pass the time. She saw something twitch out of the corner of her eye. It was the ferret's tail. Was she happy? They turned another corner and were greeted by the smell of the restaurants that lined the streets. Liv nodded her head down the street. "I positive it's at the end of the block here," she said happily, encouragingly, in almost the same tone she used at work to encourage her tired caravan they were almost there. Man, I just take my work everywhere, don't I? I wonder if that means I need more vacation, I'm ready to go back to work, or if I'm slowly developing some form of crazy? she wondered to herself.
