Zane was able to take a sip of his tea without spilling it or coughing it out. He smirked as she drank though, this was a rather amusing situation. He was with a probably sixteen year old girl, who had said she was going to get into a nightclub with him. In all of Zane's short lived life he had never expected to have something this amazing happen. He was going to do his hardest not to screw up.
"I'm not exactly sure, Lani," he paused briefly. That was a lovely name. "Do you have anything against shopping around in the distract that the night club is in? It's called Ale Bianche by the way. They serve some of the best mixed drinks that I know of, but I can't see you as a heavy drinker."
He honestly couldn't see them letting her in the club either. He had been surprised before, though.

Lani looked up from her tea and eyed him seriously. "I have never in my life not liked shopping, Zane. I mean, come on. Instant way to a girl's heart, right? Shopping and free drinks? That sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me."
She continued giving him a Look at the comment about the drinks and smirked a little. "Not to brag, but I can probably hold my liquor better than you. Not because I'm a heavyweight or anything, but because I've got an ability that sort of dulls the effects. Alcohol's a mild poison, after all. I'm not completely immune like my father is, but it definitely dulls the effects. I can take a hell of a lot before I start getting buzzed. Just so you know."
With the promise of shopping and a night spent doing something much more fun than anything else she'd had planned - screw Chadrin, he could go dunk his head in a lake for being busy today - the dog-bird was in far better spirits than she had been all day.

Shopping it was then. Zane had never made an assumption about anything really. He had met girls that despised the idea of shopping. Really, Zane himself wasn't fond of shopping. The last thing he went out window shopping was for art supplies. He never really had time to pursue his hobby anymore. It didn't help that it was so expensive. He had no idea how starving artists could pay for any of it. That wasn't the point though.
Zane couldn't help but chuckle as he finished his tea. He was a bit of a paperweight "Even with your ability I don't think you're going to drink me out of my rent money. I think it'll be fine." He didn't want to make assumptions but he was pretty sure that he wouldn't spend that much money on her drinks if she got into the club.

Lani laughed and shook her head, hair flying slightly. She had other people keep it trimmed just enough so that she could do that without inadvertently sending it into her food or drink or things like that. It was her 'convenient' length and made it even more flippy and cute, in her opinion. Her sister seemed to like it that length too, so everything worked out just fine. She adored her beautiful hair beyond all reason and any man that ever used it as ammo for flattery would immediately earn himself the flash of a smile.
"I don't want to get wasted or anything, Zane, so no worries. Not that I really can anyway. I just like how they taste, most of the time. And if you're going to take me out shopping, I'll go wherever you lead." Just so long as it wasn't boring. Or tacky. Or run-down. Or someplace that she just didn't want to go. Then she would direct him elsewhere.

Zane blushed a bit. He was going to risk sounding like an idiot for one long moment. One long and awkward moment. "I don't shop very often. It's not like I wear suits or anything. The only other thing I can think of is art supplies and that would be horribly boring for you, I bet, so I think you might as well pick out a store that you want to go to right off the bat."
At least he was being honest? That had to be some sort of bonus. His thoughts paused as he realized that there was a very nice jewelry and fine craft store around here. It was run by that mouse he had met not too long ago. No. He could go without asking a girl to go to a jewelry shop with him. That just felt entirely too weird. He looked at Lani. She was quite a stunning young lady with that bright red hair. What would a girl like that like besides clothing? He really couldn't guess.
"Sorry I have nowhere to lead. I'm a bit of a socially awkward geek if you hadn't guessed already," Zane grinned.

Listening to him, Lani couldn't help but laugh again and lean over to butt her nose against the edge of one large, leathery wing. Gads but he was adorable. Half the time she didn't know whether she liked the dumb, pretty ones best for the fact that they couldn't outsmart her but got sullen often, or the cute, shy ones who were adorably awkward and always seemed oh-so-interested in their unassuming ways. Sometimes she thought she might prefer them for the fact that they rarely got upset about waiting on her or tried to boss her around, which she absolutely hated in a man. But then some big, dumb, gorgeous thing would catch her eye and she'd be having the dilemma all over again. She was still young enough that she didn't feel comfortable with 'putting out' yet, but it would only be a matter of time until her curiosity got the better of her. Probably not for another year or so.
"That's okay. So long as you're an adorable geek, I don't mind a bit." With a smirk, she finished off the last of her tea, not wanting to waste any of the tasty stuff. Then she hopped down from her chair and tilted her head, watching him. "After you take care of the tab, I can probably manage to keep us moving until it starts getting dark out and the clubs get going."

Well then. With Zane blushing under his feathers things were settled. He waved over the waiter and hastily paid the bill, giving a little extra for the tip. He was in a much better mood now that he wasn't going to bored for the rest of the day.
The sparrow hummed as he pushed his chair in. "So where will you be leading me, Lani?" The sparrow usually wasn't one to keep company of one younger than him, unless it was his brother or sister. This was actually quite an interesting experience. He quickly brushed off a rather silly notion of making this a habit. That would be impossible. This was too random to ever happen again. He shouldn't bother to think about impossible things.
With a mental shrug the sparrow continued to follow the bird-dog. Would she be able to make it into the club without a hassle? That would have to wait a while.

More blushing, how cute! With a laugh and a wag of her tail, Lani led him away from the tables and out toward the street. "Oh, you know. Around. I don't live in the Capital so it's always fun to come here for a few days' vacation, and it's even nicer now that I can come alone and don't have to worry about any hanger-ons."
She didn't have any particular stores in mind, more interested in wandering through anything that caught her fancy and trying to poke bits and pieces of information out of Zane. Where exactly did he work? What did he do? Did he have any family? Did he get his looks from them? Prod, poke, nibble, etc. She wanted to learn a little more about him to decide whether or not he'd be a worthwhile person to cultivate. And to see how many times she could get him to blush. It was just cute.

He answered all and some more of her questions. West Lakes Shipping Firm part time employee. He had a rather large family. He got his looks from both his parents. So on and so forth. All that was left was questions about her, even if he was already blushing quite a bit.
Nightfall came faster than Zane had ever expected. He was quite happy to see it come, the prospect of going to a club just made Zane even happier. They were the first one's to come to the bouncer. The sparrow hesitated. He looked to Lani. She was younger than what they allowed in the bar. The sparrow shrugged and proceeded to walk past the bouncer as he moved away from the door and accepted the cover charge for both of them.
Well, that was easier than he had expected. Heh. This mean he had to pay for all her drinks. He did however, get her company. It was pretty much a win win situation.
