Conway wasn't sure quite what to do. "All right...thank you...." he said quietly as he slipped his hands into his pockets. Something that would jingle. Something to break the dead silence besides his spine. It was a small comfort. Enough that he wouldn't burst into tears like his eyes were threatening to do.
Oh right. Names. Every stranger had a name to make them less of a stranger, right? So... this probably meant he should give the other man his name. Oh boy. It was a good thing that no one really knew his name even after they hired him.
"Conway. My name is Conway. It's nice to meet you... um... George." Conway paused for a moment. Most people offered their hands after a greeting, but physical contact with another person wasn't exactly what the wolf wanted at the present moment. Then again he had nothing to lose but is life. Not like that would be problem.
He extended his hand.
Oh this was just weird.

George actually let a small smile slip through. Hesitant, but real...he had helped! He felt really...good. He looked at the proffered hand as though it might bite him...but slowly extended his own for a very breif shake.
"Conway...I like that name, it sounds important."
He smiled again, a bit more fully, he liked this person...he was...different.
"You're nice, thanks for not...chasing me or something. You're not...fake, like a lot of other people. You're real, like my mother and my Master. Do you want to come over sometime? Or maybe I could find you again somehow?"
He really hoped he could...it was nice to be talking to someone who wasn't talking down to him...

Conway placed his hands back in his pockets to fiddle with the coins. He needed to continue to do something so he could focus. Multitasking was the only way he could focus while he was still caught between a episode of panic and an episode of actual normality.
Conway choked back a bit of a chuckled at the comment about his name. It was "important" to his mother, yes. Anyone else probably just thought it was a pretty name, until now.
And.... real? Conway's eyes widened at the statement. Someone else thought he was real?
"My name means Holy Water. Nothing all that special. But... Yeah. I'd come over sometime if you wanted me to. Finding me is a bit... difficult. Since I don't really.... I can't stay in the same place very long. People... people don't trust me because of where I come from." Conway sighed. That was only half the reason why he was so screwed when it came to sociability.
There was that Joker thing too. That got people killed. He would be careful though. He needed to be careful. He didn't want anyone else to die. Oh god. It was all his fault. He mentally shook off the thoughts as he looked at the man in front of him.
Wait... wait. Did he just make a friend?

George watched the other closely, he appeared to be getting better...nearly laughing and replying with what his name meant. Neat, he hadn't known that.
"I...I have no idea what my name means, but I'm sure that it's nothing special either... I didn't use to be able to stay in one place, but now I live with my Master...so I suppose you could come to find me? Have you ever been to the Tulgey?"
He was a bit uncertain about asking that, he knew most people were afraid of it, and with good reason. He was afraid to be in it alone.
George smiled again. Conway...he would remember the name, maybe they could get to be friends? Someday...if Master liked him. He would have to talk to his Master about Conway.
"You can;t come this time because I haven't...asked Master about you and coming to his place without his knowing it could happen is.............bad. But if you ever need a place to stay, come to the edge of the Wood. I'll find you, I'm usually around the edge, near the very far end of Torquehelm."

Conway paused complete in thought at the name of the Wood. Didn't people who went in never come out again? Or something like that? Well, apparently that wasn't completely true. Then again, most things about regions weren't completely true. He should know.
"I've never been there... but I could easily wait at the edge of the Wood then. Just don't know when I can. After I find money I guess." He still had no idea where he could get a job. Who would be desperate enough to hire someone who played mute most of the time? He refrained from sighing and fiddled with the coins in his pocket.
"Next time we meet, I'll tell you what your name means. And we will meet again, I promise." Conway said with a firm nod. As guilty as he was, he had already made a promise to see June again, and now George. He couldn't die yet.
Yet being the key word. "I guess... I guess I should go now." Where to he hadn't the slightest.

George smiled, if he'd been in his Biped form his tail would have wagged.
"I-I'll keep an eye out for you, and I'll have Master tell some of the...people, not to be...around. He'll do, I know he will."
He watched as Conway fiddled with the coins on his pocket and shifted, looking uncomfortable.
Next time we meet, I'll tell you what your name means. And we will meet again, I promise.
Promise? Someone had just made him a promise? A good one? He was shocked, honestly not knowing what to say, his face reflected this, his amazement apparent.
"Really? Conway, I...thanks. That means a lot to me...I'll tell my Master, I'll see you soon. I should go too though, Master hates it when people are too late."
He smiled as he backed into the shadows, moving along the side of the building and waving to Conway.
To his friend.
"Goodbye."

A promise to Conway was something that he couldn't break. He wouldn't break it. "Yes. Really," He muttered quietly. Then he watched George go into the shadows and wave.
For a fraction of a moment Conway could only stare, but he raised a hand to wave back. "There's no such thing as Goodbye," he said in return as he started to walk away.
The jingling in his pockets didn't make him as sad as he figured the should. He shook his head and sighed as he turned around completely to walk down the now empty streets. Who was that Master that George was talking about? Did it really matter when there was no place for Conway to currently stay?
He looked at the houses as he passed. He could always look at he personals if he managed to snag a paper in the morning. As for sleep... well he just needed to find some place to sleep now. Fun.
(( OOC: <3 I think this is a pretty good place to finish, unless you disagree. ))
