"Oh, I only lick people when I feel the need to show some sort of interest in them. Or show affection. It's half and half usual." Peaches waved a sleeve dismissively at the statement. Licking was hard to explain period. She just did it on impulse.
The woman pounced on her heals for a moment before responding to his tea question. "I have a lot of favorite teas, but Valentine's is probably the best. Not many people carry it though. I don't know how someone can't love the taste of chocolate and strawberries in tea."
Tonight was an absolutely fantastic night. Peaches was beyond joyful to make it out and meet someone so interesting. If anyone had seen them, well, they probably would have run away or stared blankly in idle curiosity. She couldn't help but wonder what one of her childhood friends would have thought about this. No time for pondering that, though, this man was bound to have secrets of the interesting sort.
"Is it rude of me to ask your region? I don't want to assume anything you know. Rumors are usual a bad source for proper information." Peaches asked quite suddenly as she skipped to the side and a bit ahead of the Hatter. She wanted to get to this apartment. She really was getting a breeze up her skirt.

"Then I believe you owe me a free lick of my own."
Hatter snickered playfully after giving a thoughtful nod. Yes, that really was solid reasoning. At least, as solid reasoning as one could have when it came to the 'art of licking'.
"Valentine's?" He echoed cheerfully, his expression thoughtful. Not because he didn't recognize the tea, but because he wasn't sure where he had stashed it. It took just a moment to acertain where things were in his apartment rather than his large manor in Corvistowne but once he had he quickly pinpointed the box. Thank the suits for a photographic memory. "Oh yes, I agree." He purred out, looking quite happy with her selection. "You've got lovely tastes, miss Peaches."
Mmm, Peaches. He was almost looking forward to licking her. Would she taste like her namesake? His idle musing was interrupted by the feline's sudden movement but he followed her flawlessly.
"Not rude at all. It's much preferred to rumors. I'm from Corvistowne." He tilted his feather-laced hair so that the red feathers gleamed neon in the moonlight. "Would it be wrong of me to assume you are from Torquehelm?" The Hatter reached out, running his lean fingers through her long hair. "I don't know many regions which could produce such a flawless purple hue and such an interesting wardrobe."

"Well I'm certainly not from Esterberry!" Peaches grinned waving a coat sleeve. She was completely enamored by his comments. "Both my parents and me hail from Torquehelm, but I'm happy to say I didn't inherit a bit of their personalties. I'm probably the happiest Torque you'll meet on a regular basis!"
Happy could be used to describe Peaches, but out of her head was a better term by far. The woman in all her feline glory was quite amused by the feathers strung through out his hair. She had to wonder what kind of bird her was to have feathers in his hair. Either way it gave her a new puppet project to work on.
"It's nice to meet a Corvie as pretty as you," Peaches said absentmindedly as she stared briefly at the moon. It really was such a beautiful night. "And from rumors I hear you're skilled at what you do. I'm doubly happy to meet you, Hatter. I also bet that you deal in my favorite sort of... hobby." She didn't know what else to call it really. It was more her life than anything else. Secrets were wonderful little things.
"But that's not here or there, is it now? We can discuss all the silly things during tea and trying on Hats," She quite literally purred.

"You most certainly are not an Esterberry!" He chuckled and continued to twine his fingers through her long hair. However did she manage it all? He bit his tongue before he could suggest she cut it. She had told him before that if a girl wore her hair long then she wanted it that way, even if it was due for a cutting! Not that he disapproved entirely, long hair was fun to play with even if it did get in the way. "I can heartily agree with you there. I know quite a few Torques and while some are quite cheerful none are as free as you."
Free was said with odd emphasis. He knew a good deal of unique Torques with a good deal of high spirits but very few of them were truly free. For all that they could smile, they were still bound in tightly in spirit. Peaches was different, she was beyond her own bindings and took happiness in them. That was a rare thing, and Hatter enjoyed her all the more for it.
As her attention directed upward, Hatter turned his split gaze to peer at the feline curiously. Her hobby, hm? He had to wonder what she meant by that, but as she proceeded to say, that was for discussion over Tea and under Hats.
"My name gets ahead of me quite frequently, I find, but I'm pleased to hear the rumors that accompany it are of the good kind." He chuckled. "I'd hate to have the less pleasant sort chasing me about."
Hatter loved the way it sounded when she purred. For all that he tended to prefer those of his species above those that were not, Hatter had also found a keen liking for the feline breed. That and those illusive breeds which few believed in or ever met, but that was entirely due to the fact that he did not exist as well. Or, that was the way the stories went.
"It's good, then, that my apartment isn't much further. I don't think my curiousity for you can be contained quite so well for much longer."

"Hehe! You're quite good with flattering people, aren't you?" Peaches grinned as she took a half hop back. The woman hummed as she moved away from from him. She didn't mind if her hair was tugged on. It had a lot worse things done to it.
"But honestly, I'm quite curious about you. Rumors are just rumors and all that. I bet half of them are wrong. I won't even discuss them with you to be honest." The woman reached up with her coat sleeve absentmindedly playing with her earing and chain. "You have quite interesting eyes, I'm almost jealous. I've never seen someone with bicolored eyes before. Or whatever the proper name for that is. I don't honestly know proper terms."
Wow she was talking a lot. She hadn't done that in a while. Maybe she should bite her tongue? That would be boring though! "Tea, Hats, Secrets, Rumors and all sorts of things. Best night I've had in a long time."

As Peaches moved, Hatter gave her hair a playfully brief tug before relaxing his hand completely and allowing it to slide through without further snag.
Her commentary on his eyes brought a quirky smile to his lips as he tossed her a wink. "It seems you're quite good at flattery as well, though I honestly couldn't give you a proper name for 'em either. Bicolored works well enough for me." He bounced lightly on his heels, before twisting abruptly so that he could face her. This, of course, meant that he was now walking backwards although this didn't concern him in the least. His apartment was quite close and he had memorized the path years ago.
"Ah! I must agree! Best night I've had in quite some time, even though I have found some very interesting company as of late." He mused on that for a moment, once again returning his thoughts to the fascinating heron he'd so recently met and the 'vacation' they were about to venture off on, before his attention rushed back upon Peaches. "I'm looking forward to clearing a few rumors and exchanging secrets over Tea and Hats. So many people are open books, it's delightful to meet someone that's more of a challenge."

Peaches was surprised by the hair tug. That hadn't happened very often, not many people were willing to pull on hair. She thought nothing of it as he continued, and started to walk backwards. What a very entertaining man.
"Interesting company is one thing and an interesting night is another," she said clapping her hands together through her jacket sleeves. "Splendid that we're both hoping for a challenge though. I haven't had one in a while! It's been terribly slow in the secret business these days. I can't even find any terribly interesting information at the palace, and that's saying quite a bit."
Well. She knew quite a bit of what was going on at the palace. Peaches was damn good at being a voyeur even when she wasn't using her powers. Recently there was no point in it though. Nothing fantastic was happening. She shrugged it off an briefly looked at the surroundings as the Hatter masterfully walked backwards down the street. This was a better part of the City wasn't it? He had to be pretty well off to afford a place here.

"Oh? You work in the courts then? Which palace, may I ask?"
That definitely piqued Hatter's interest! His eyes lit up with keen interest before he was forced to spin around and face forward once more. The ground had changed ever so slightly, announcing they'd arrived in the small complex that housed Hatter's apartment. Beckoning for her to follow as he strode up a short flight of stairs, Hatter soon arrived at the door and leaned back, plucking his Hat back off her head.
Behind the cards tucked there, Hatter also fished out a key. He unlocked the door, replaced the key in the Hat and stepped back to hold the door open for his guest.
"Welcome to my 'humble abode'." He purred out as he offered her a wink and a dramatic bow. "There's not much to eat, but there's a sample of tea for every occasion." Hatter should've picked up some food since the last time he'd discovered he had none but ah, he'd forgotten...again. He always ate out, why keep food in when he might leave on a whim? It only left rotting food smelling up his apartment when he got back. "Make yourself at home and I'll put the tea on."

"Hearts actually. How I got the job is one hell of a story, I'll tell you. Climbing through windows is a bad idea unless you're absolutely not going to get caught." She sighed. What a horrible first impression she made then. If only she hadn't been caught. She somehow figured showing up on the opposite side of the door would have been a better idea.
She watched the man bound up the stairs and quickly hurried after him. Peaches blinked when he removed his hat from her head and produced a key. Well, that was quite clever of him. She had a moment of hat envy before he revealed his apartment.
"It's a good thing I'm not here for food then, isn't it?" Peaches said quite happily as she skipped inside. "What a lovely place you have! I'm quite jealous." She looked around the room curiously inspecting it. He really must have been quite successful.
"What exactly is your Corvie specialty anyway?" She asked as she spun around on her heals to face him as he went to put the tea on.
