Now that was some tasty information! She worked in the Court of Hearts? Which meant she was probably a face card of the Heart Suit. He smirked slightly, but said nothing on his speculations for now. Rank was not an issue he wanted to discuss so soon, though with that tidbit he could 'adjust' himself accordingly.
"Keeping in mind what I've heard about the current Queens, I think I'll refrain from risking getting caught on my way in through the window." He chuckled warmly, moving briskly into the kitchen. His dizzying movements returned as he sorted through the kitchenware, pulling out one of his many tea sets and setting the pot on the stove to boil. It was a pity he didn't have the teapot he'd bought from Gale...but perhaps a bit of 'getting to know one another' was in order before he pulled that out. "You're welcome to climb through my window anytime you'd like, though I can't always gauruntee I'll be here. I'm on the move a lot, hate staying in one place for too long."
He turned back to Peaches, leaning on the counter as he spoke.
"Mechanics! I've been working on animating clockwork creations. So far I've got a small collection of Momes and Toves. They pay the rent." For a split second he frowned, as if contemplating something, but it was gone as quick as it appeared. "It's a pity I wasn't planning on coming into the City today, I left my 'prodigy pet' at home. You'd love Doorie."

"It wasn't so much the Queens I upset, but one of his Kings. The man doesn't like me very much. I suppose it's just because he's so very work orientated and all his brain snapped a little when I came through a window." Peaches sighed a bit. She didn't want to upset anyone like that, but she did a spectacular job in that case. She shook her head, "But I would love to come through your window sometime, where ever that may be." She purred a moment before listening to his other response.
Well that was an interesting job indeed! "Oh, That's quite amazing. Doorie is such a cute name too. I bet he's adorable." Peaches actually had a weakness for cute fuzzy things. She would never admit it to anyone unless they saw her with one. The only exception to the rule was banders, simply because they couldn't be cuddled properly.

Hatter chuckled a little, amused by her description. If only he'd gotten a chance to see her breaking the poor King's brain. Sometimes Hatter wished it would be easier for him to return to the Courts, but disguises only work so well... Especially when it comes to a distracted Hatter that's too caught up in having fun, or the risk of someone recognizing those unique two-toned orbs. It could be done, of course, he'd just have to stay out of the Court of Diamonds. Ah, well, and now the Court of Hearts as well. Something just told him that of all people that would recognize him, Peaches would be the first.
"I've got homes all over the place, saves me trouble during my travels to just have an apartment to slide into...instead of having to book Inns all over the place." He shrugged casually. "My favorite will always be my manor in Corvistowne though, it's the only one with my lab after all." And what was a mad genius without his lab, hm? Nothing at all. "I look forward to your next visit, then... Any night that you're around is guaranteed to be entertaining, I can see it already."
Her approval of Doorie and his work, even without seeing either, obviously delighted Hatter and he bounced energetically on his heels.
"Ah, you'd like Doorie! He's very adorable and very sweet. You'd love him, he's the sweetest little Mome and he's quite soft for all that he's a clockwork pet."
From behind him the teapot had begun to steam and Hatter shifted eagerly. Tea was almost done and then they could start the night properly!

Peaches honestly couldn't help but giggle. Momes were usually angry little things. Adorable but angry half the time, she had never met one that didn't want to bite upon first meeting. But if Doorie had been here, she would have had to take of her gloves. It was a bit early in their meeting for her to do that.
"I'm afraid I only have a place in the palace and back in my home region. Though... I tend not to go back to that place. Quite depressing when people mope around all the time," she said rolling her eyes. That wasn't her real reason for not going back, but it's not like she was going to spill her best secrets right now. She wanted, very much, to find out more about the Hatter first. What was such an interesting man doing in such a place?
"I have to wonder, a fantastic man like you must have many friends. Do you know any other interesting Torqs perhaps? It might be funny if each no someone a different way. It's a small world after all." She wiggled a bit as she heard the tea boil. Tea, conversation, hats. Good night indeed.

Momes were, for the greater majority of the time, unpleasant little pisses... but a Mome made entirely out of clockwork was, well...just an animated piece of machinery and as such it was entirely obedient to Hatter's wishes. The perfect pet, really, and Hatter didn't have to worry about feeding it either!
"I visit Torquehelm from time to time, but your point is quite accurate. It's so...miserable there, I tend to avoid it when I can." He shrugged slightly and cast a sideways glance to the lovely Torque occupying his home away from home. "I do adore those of the Torque persuasion though, I must add. You're a fun lot."
The answer to Peaches's next question was blocked out by a sudden whistling of the tea kettle. The eager Corvie twisted on spot and quickly plucked up the pot, grinning happily as he poured them each a cup. Like a gentleman he brought the tray to Peaches and offered her a cup before returning to his own and her questions.
"Interesting Torques? Yeah, actually... A good few of 'em. Most recently, though, yourself and...a rather entertaining one-legged heron named Loreta. Delivered a package to me a short while back." He paused to sip his tea. "How's the tea, by the way?" He took another sip and switched back to Loreta. "We discussed prosthetics and all that, she's a great little spitfire."
He grinned, cocking his head to the side. "What about you? Know any interesting Corvies?"

Depressing was the understatement of the bloody century in Peaches opinion. No one was happy there unless they were off their rockers more so than Peaches was. That took quite a bit of talent. Not many people could pull that off.
She took a sip of the hot tea and purred.
Then she choked on the name of Loreta. She blinked a few times and stared at Hatter for one long moment before speaking. "The tea is fantastic, but... you know Loreta? That is just... wow. I grew up with her. She was one of the few people I know to make fun of me even if she wasn't a higher rank. I've never met a six quite as brave as her... though I'm sorry to hear that she still has one leg. She was still just as feisty when she had two, even more so maybe. Losing her leg just made her an utter bitch."
Peaches shrugged and took a sip of tea. Obviously something had changed since Loreta was thrown out of her house so many years ago. She had to meet up with her again sometime.

Hatter paused slightly as Peaches choked on her tea, a look of concern momentarily crossing his features before being given that reassurance. Oh? So she knew Loreta as well!
He leaned back in his seat once more, relaxing now that he was assured she was enjoying her tea. He could sip it at his leisure as he soaked in information about the poor avian. Ah, she really didn't deserve to have lost a limb the way she had, not when she was such a brave and charming girl. She didn't strike him the same way Peaches did, but she was still a better friend than most he had.
"O? That's quite a coincidence! A bitch, though? She's been quite affable with me." He chuckled slightly, though a mental image of the frustrated heron lost in the city did filter back to him after a moment. "Okay, well...maybe a little toward some strangers I saw her with but not directly with me." He took another sip of tea. "We seem to get along rather well though. Though I suppose its best, considering I don't usually associated with bitches. Too stuck up and grumpy."
He took another sip of tea.
"When did you two last see each other? If its been a while, perhaps a get together is in order then."

"She's gotten better then. Right after she lost her leg she was a down right bitch to me and... my friend. But I'm glad to hear she's gotten better." Peaches sipped her tea again. Meeting Loreta again? It would probably be a good idea.
But she knew that something would come up in conversation and they would both go in some downward spiral. That could wait for a while. If she worked as a delivery service person maybe Peaches could rig something up so they could meet at the palace. That might be amusing.
"Well, I suppose we could meet up sometime again. However, that's not to be discussed right now. I want to see some of these Hats you speak so fondly of before we proceed to get drunk on tea and tell each other some interesting information. But, as for interesting Corvies, I've only seen one in the palace. I haven't found the time to talk to him. He was a bird... with a T name or something. He's a healer. That's the important part." She snorted. Of course when a healer was involved Peaches was hardly coherent. When she got hurt she got hurt rather nicely.

Hatter sipped at his tea, frowning slightly as he took in her words. Yes, Hatter had seen that Loreta was bitter but a down right bitch? He wouldn't disbelieve Peaches, not when they had obviously been good friends in the past. It was a downright pity then. He would have to be sure they saw each other again...once she got back from their little trip that is.
A trip that he was most definitely not going to mention to Peaches now that he was aware of their past friendship. He didn't want the lovely feline to be concerned, nor did he want to breach the reasons as to why he was willing to venture into The Woods and why he was sure he could protect Loreta therein.
"Then you haven't met many interesting Corvies!" He laughed with pure amusement, quickly pushing the sad thought of Loreta's first years without her leg. Hatter really had grown quite fond of the unusual bird. "But yes, as for Hats, follow me!"
Hatter hummed cheerfully taking his teacup and bounding lightly into the other room. He was eager to play with the Hats and dabble in the secrets both he and Peaches hoarded.

"Hats~," Peaches sang quietly and horribly off key. If it was one thing she couldn't do, she absolutely could not sing. It was just out of the question. Teacup in sleeved hands, the purple haired woman followed the eccentric man into the other room.
She honestly didn't expect to see that many hats if this wasn't his "main" apartment. Maybe it was just a lot because she didn't have that many accessories beyond a few different skirts and a formal dress or two. Peaches never had an obsession with anything clothing related. Just stalking people and making puppets of people that she was rather fond of. This hat thing was quite different.
"So... many, is there anything in particular that you would like me to try on first? I didn't know there were so many different kinds of top Hats," she said looking around the room. It had to be a few compared to his other house. "This makes me wonder about your tea collection."
