Peaches was very much right and Hatter liked that quite a bit. On the matter of values and interests they seemed to be quite alike which was rarer for him than most and he assumed it was that way for Peaches as well. As she wiggled closer, he shifted ever so slightly and pinned her there atop her chest.
He liked her there, though he had decided this roughly around the time she had first glomped him.
"Ah yes, well that's quite true isn't it?" Things were never what they seemed, but the Courts were still something that seemed to lord ever so slightly above his head. Childish notions, even he knew that, but that didn't restrain his curiousity any. Perhaps now, though, he could venture into the Courts in pursuit of a visit with Peaches. "Rumors are interesting enough, I believe... Perhaps I will leave them as they are or, better yet, step inside and take a peek around."
"You can stay as long as you like, of course." Hatter paused abruptly, bursting in a wide grin. There was such mischief shining in his eyes as he continued that one would've had to be blind to miss it. "However, I do have one condition if you do."

"Eh, if you step in the courts be careful," Peaches said with a worried noise. She gave him a slight frown. If the found out what he was she couldn't imagine what would happen to him. Ownership was all that crossed her mind. Someone would want to own him. Hatter very much wasn't a thing, he was a real person.
She blinked. Her frown disappeared as she tilted her head and raised an eyebrow."Condition? What would that be?"
At the moment she couldn't imagine what he was talking about. She shifted her weight slightly as she wiggled to move a bit further up. She had half a mind to straddle him again and stare at him intently. Peaches however was content at staying as close as possible as she could to his body heat. She didn't want to move unless it involved making more heat, and not necessary in that perverted sense.

Hatter hesitated as she spoke, her fears quite clear and very near to his own. He knew the risk, more than knew the risk. It had destroyed the last vestiges of what he could've called a 'family' before...did he want to risk it again? Or, was it a risk at all anymore? Hatter wasn't a child anymore, he grasped his own abilities far more than he had back then...and had already given his alliance to Her, he would never change that.
"I have learned from past mistakes, and I do step carefully." Hatter reached out, caressing her cheek gently. He didn't want to worry her, he truly didn't...but... "Take me to work with you." He announced abruptly, making up his mind abruptly. "You're the only one who will know who I really am. I've hid my rank from the world all my life, going with you will be no different."
It had been too long and he was truly curious. Couldn't he just take a little tour? He'd masquerade as a Jack of Hearts like Peaches, an old friend or something along that line.

Peaches was surprised. That was actually a bit of an understatement on her part, but she wasn't about to say no. She shifted completely until she was flopped on top of him and looking directly into his eyes. An old friend eh? She might be able to pull that off.
"You win. I'll take you to work," she said. Peaches gave him a kiss to seal the deal. Half curious to know what else he would do, when she let go of the kiss she continued to stare at him in a very cat like manner. He was an interesting man indeed. "You'll have to be careful anyway though. Pissing off members of the Heart courts is a very bad idea. Very. I don't need anyone else angry with me because I let a mad man into the palace." She licked his nose playfully, and started purring again.

Hatter waited for her answer on baited breath. He wanted badly to go but, as Peaches warned, he didn't want to step on any toes. Not in the Court of Hearts, ...not yet at least. One day he intended to go in and cause a bit of a stir, but not so soon that it might cause poor Peaches to suffer. Hatter wouldn't dream of purposefully getting her in trouble, but he wanted to meet the royal, schmooze a bit. She wanted to know more about the goings on and he could not deny her that.
When Peaches agreed his eyes lit up once more and he burst into a wide grin. He made a note of pleasure in the back of his throat as their lips met in that deal-sealing kiss and he met her gaze evenly.
"I'll be very careful. I wouldn't do anything to get you in trouble, and I've long outgrown disassembling Kings' watches." He grinned wickedly, but melted to her lick and the sweet rumble of her purr. "Nnn...but really, I won't do anything to make anyone angry. I might be 'a touch out of my head' as many people have said, but I know what toes not to step on."
Or, at very least, which toes one ought to tread on lightly.

"Stepping on toes is something you do regardless. Well, something I do. I suppose there's a way people do it without treading on people, but I haven't figured out how to yet," She shrugged as she remained flopped on top of Hatter. She wasn't going to move unless he pushed her off. From all the sounds he was making, she was pretty sure that he didn't want her to.
"Heh. I don't know anyone with a watch in the courts off the top of my head in the first place." Peaches placed her head next to his so she had access to his ear. She could bite it and see what happened. That might be a little mean though. Not everyone had a positive reaction to nips, loving or not. She purred quite a bit when she was warm and fuzzy feeling. She muttered, "Everyone is out of their head. Some people just hide it better than others."

Hatter liked this, liked Peaches. She was warm and comfortable and, when she was this very close...he found she smelt as well as she tasted. Absently his eyes melted closed. "I have never entirely found a way to avoid stepping on toes either." He murmured with his eyes still closed. "I have, however, learned to tread more lightly than in my childhood."
Hatter's hands slid through her long hair, playing with it for a moment before beginning to stroke and pet her once more. He wouldn't have her move for the world, not while he was so perfectly comfortable. "When I was a boy, a visiting King had a very fancy!pocketwatch with him. He, sadly, left it were I could find it and, being fascinated by clockwork mechanics as I was and still am...well, I took it apart. In every sense of the word. Which wouldn't be a problem now, but back then...I lacked a crucial skill in putting things back together." Hatter chuckled with a mixture of pleasure and mischief. "My mother's attendant gave a beating I wouldn't forget...not that it really," he shrugged slightly, "stopped me or anything."
Ah yes, well...at least he'd grown up since then. Or, if nothing else, at least he'd learned to put things back together.
Absently he realized that she had slid right up and was purring in his ear, something that not everyone would enjoy but which the Hatter seemed to be basking in. If only he could purr like that! Instead he made another soft sigh of content as his hands slid from her hair to lay on the small of her back.

A bit to happy to stop purring so quickly, she listened to his story without saying a word. That was horribly adorable, minus the beating part. Beatings were never the slightest bit adorable or educational for children. She had experience from when she was a kid. That wasn't the brightest after all. Man didn't know a thing about the potential of a threat.
"Mmm. Well. I'm glad it didn't stop you. You wouldn't be half as interesting as you are now if it did." She licked his ear, smirk on her face. Hatter tasted very much like Hatter and nothing more. It was a "special" taste that couldn't help but make Peaches purr like a motorboat.
She sighed. "When I was a child I got caught spying on my parents. That was not a pretty sight. My brother tried his hardest to convince them that it was his idea, but he couldn't lie if he wanted to. I got such a fantastic beating." Peaches rolled her eyes as she shifted a bit. Petting was quite nice. She snuggled up against him again.

Hatter's mother -or rather her attendants- had always been severe in their punishments, determined to 'straighten out' the hyperactive boy that was Hatter. That, as was quite obvious, had failed spectacularly and probably contributed to his continued refusal to accept 'order'. Structure was not something he did well with. The only daily habit he had ever picked up was tea time. He always had tea time.
"No, I would imagine not. I wouldn't be me if I stopped and very few people tell me I'm lacking in interesting qualities." His words were playfully light, and he chuckled when he received the lick. Tilting his head slightly, he returned the affection by nibbling gently along her jawline.
"I see beatings have worked 'wonders' on the both of us... I've yet to stop taking things apart and you've yet to stop your spying ways." At least that's what Hatter figured she did, dealing in 'information' and all. "I'm glad it didn't change you too. You're really quite perfect just like this." If it were possible to draw her closer, he would have. Instead his fingers wandered along the soft curves of her body, running soft circles over her bare skin.
