The girl paused at the edge of the stairs when her father did the same. The smells almost burned her nose with their strength. Blood, sweat, tears, and all the horrible things in everyone's life were collected in one place that her father worked.
She took the first step with a hop. She looked back at her Papa with a curious look. "We are going down here right?" She said she wanted to see what he did and she meant it. Everyone had a job, and everyone had a talent. Why not learn about it as much as she could. What Pravus did was "awful" to most people, but honestly... someone had to do it. People weren't ones to give up information willingly.
And it was just another thing to add to the pile of violent things that life was. One more person was murdered in cold blood. That's just the way things seemed to work in real life.
She looked around at the dungeon. Well. It was just like all those bedtime stories.

Pravus watched cooly as she hopped near excited down the first step. This was her choice, he would have to make sure Peaches knew this when she started to tear into him. Besides, he hadn't raised her, it wasn't his fault she was so morbidly fascinated. And then, slowly, a real grin broke across his face. It wasn't exactly a sane grin, but it was real. He had finally had a child after his own interests, odd, that it would be the one he had no hand in raising.
He nodded a yes and followed her down into the abyss. (*COUGH* HAD TO. Don't blame me ;_;)
The feline slipped into the door to the main dungeon behind his daughter and deftly leaned back against the rock wall to the side. He crossed his arms over his chest and watched her as she registered everything around her. Pravus watched as her eyes scanned the walls, and the floors, and every stain from even victim upon the ground.
His dark eyes registered her calmly, waiting for a reaction. Would she turn tail and run, or would she push herself through the fear? Or stranger yet. . would she have no fear at all?

Her tail twitched, the smell was really quite awful. She could turn away now, but that would just be a fantastic failure to add to the list, wouldn't it? No, she wasn't going to turn away when she was right here.
She looked back at her Papa and his creepy smile. Unnerving was probably a better description. Did he always smile like that, or was it because he was down here? Xiven wasn't afraid either way. It was just a fact, like the way her Mom knew everything. She could ask questions, but they would never be answered with a straight face.
"So... what now? Are you going to show me what you do or what?" the little Queen asked, looking up at him with expectant eyes. If he brought her down here, it was for a very good reason, otherwise they would be chatting over tea. This was definitely not going to be a tea and crumpet chat.

Pravus kept watching her and let no emotion show. But why was his stomach hurting so bad? For the children he had raised, he had always tried to keep them safe, from the world and himself. Lior had been the exception, the male to carry the line. Lior though, had other plans and decided this wasn't for him. And now, one of his children comes up and asks to see, and his stomach does backflips?
It seemed hugely stupid to him that he would care. Wasn't it this age when Fino had shown him the joys of the dungeon? Although he wouldn't admit it outloud, he knew. . that the night in the dungeon with Fino had been what started him down this path. Had in a way, broken him, desensitized him. It was either that or throw up everyday for the rest of your life. Did he really want to do that to Xiven?
"Why don't I show you the uh. . guests." Pravus grinned again and swept his hand down a hallway.

All right. Xiven's ears twitched as she slowly walked down the hall. People were hanging from the walls, there were people in shackles. Well, they all looked amazingly miserable, smelt horrible, and some of them didn't even look like they were alive. Twitching pathetically on the floor was one of the few signs that they were alive. It really was quite disgusting. They were all traitors though, weren't they? Accused of a crime that deserved such a form of justice. Some of the smell was just lingering from the past... she couldn't imagine it would go away once someone was removed. After this she was going to need a really long bath.
Her nose wrinkled at the smell of one. The blood dripping from his wounds was fresh. Apparently there wasn't a need to keep him from bleeding to death? Well that was silly. Guh, and that was more than just blood she was smelling wasn't it? "So... if you keep them really healthy after each session, wouldn't they break even harder? I mean... these people look like they're an awful shape. Are you at the end of the line with most of them?"
She spotted a rather healthy looking woman out of the corner of her eye. Xiven's ears twitched as she turned her head to look at the bright neon against black. "What... did she do?"

Pravus sneered a little at a few of the more broken-down prisoners. They were all filth in his mind, dirty, disgusting, beings. If they had earned their way here they could no longer be considered Cards, but mere animals. And most, ironically enough, were only animals. Bipeds and humans were a strange occurance. He supposed most were too lazy and stupid to gain their further forms, and to end up here.
He murred a little in thought. Pravus was always open to ideas, anything that could make his job that much easier, or fun. But he shook his head. "You give them just enough to survive, to have something to cling to and hope for. But if you make them too comfortable what's the point of giving in, even if you are torturing them? They have more pain resistance, more stamina when they're fed too much. Too much mental strength as well, when they get sleep. You must always keep them on the edge, and make them believe they have something to hope for, something that's better. But yes, most of these vermin have served their course, but we can't exactly just release them can we? Plus they serve as wonderful examples for the new prisoners."
He laughed as Xiven pointed towards the one female, a rather clashing Corvistowne if he did say so himself. "She, decided she would try and sell rather useful weapons to another bidder. Quite talented with her designs really, shame she'll have to die. Though, we must get the plans from her first." Pravus sighed a bit. "She's a stubborn bitch."
"WHORE!" The woman screamed at Xiven. Pravus twitched and went stock still, staring the woman down.

That made sense, and there was an obvious reason why he was the adult in this situation and she wasn't. He had had a lot more experience with this in practice and all she had was...a few lectures on how bad torture was. Imagine that.
She blinked a few times when the woman called her a whore. She obviously needed a lesson in manners. "Excuse me? You think that's a funny joke don't you? Cute. However, I'm not too fond of of idiotic lower class pieces of trash who don't know their place!" And Xiven used her pain ability.
The woman would find that her teeth felt like they were being pulled out, one by one, even though they were firmly placed in her head. The Queen watched the woman scream and cover her mouth, shaking and crying from the pain. Oh yes. Whore. That was a funny joke.

Pravus had been about to move forwards and show the woman what came of insulting his guests. His muscles bunched, ready to spring forwards, claws bared. And then, her raised voice caught his attention. The cat's head moved slowly to watch Xiven. The kitten had claws it seemed, and wasn't afraid to use them, most excellent.
He watched in fascination as the woman began to scream and clutch at her mouth. It was most obviously the young hearts pain ability. Interesting that it was so specific, or so controllable. He raised an eyebrow and turned back to the woman now writhing and panicking on the ground with an amused look.
"Well done, little one. It's so hard to shut this one up, and you managed to do it quite successfully." Mouth pain, he had never thought of that one. . Perhaps he'd have to buy some new equipment.
The woman continued to scream, some blood streaming from her mouth. She had inadvertently torn up her own gums with her fingernails as she grasped at her face in terror. Her eyes were far too white and then suddenly, she was still. The stupid bitch had passed out. Fine by Pravus.

"I didn't think... she would pass out so quickly," Xiven speculated as she looked at the figure on the ground. Right. The gap between ranks was probably enough to cause such a quick knock out. She needed to remember things like that so she didn't do anything stupid.
"But... thank you, Papa," She said looking up at him. She'd done the right thing then? This was a confusing situation. Really confusing. She could hear her mother ranting about how the torture should just be left to Pravus and whoever he choose to be his successor in all of that. But... Xiven wanted her Papa to love her. She wanted to be... wanted. She was an accident, she knew that. She wasn't stupid.
She looked back at the woman. So... she was going to die for doing something illegal. Her tail swished at the thought of death. So, did Papa take lives by killing them outright too? She wasn't sure if she wanted to ask.
