She sighed and shook her head. "I'm sorry I can't tell you anything more. This is far from my specialty. You would probably have to find someone more well versed in that sort of magic than me. I could give you names, but at the moment they are quite meaningless." With that not of finality she started to actually eat her meal.
Rosemary felt something in the pit of her stomach knot up as she took a bite of her meal. This was going to be a long visit.
--
Conway looked down at the bag filled with money. Three more weeks worth of pay and he could disappear. It had been almost a year or something like that... and he was starting to get more and more twitchy. He didn't like staying in places for long periods of time. It just didn't feel right. Aunt Josephine had noticed that he was more and more frantic to do work. More creepy smiles, all of that. Thyme didn't seem to mind. She actually accepted him for who he was.
It was very weird.
He sighed as he slipped out of his room, locking the door behind him. It was time to bring Thyme breakfast. And Rosemary, since she was once again staying at the house. Why that girl randomly showed up he still wouldn't guess.
He knocked on the door, tray in hand. How exactly was he going to explain to Thyme that he was leaving soon.

Curled up on the bed next to her sister, Thyme's red eyes opened blearily for a minute before she realized that she woke up because of someone knocking on the door. That was Conway's knock. It was time for breakfast already? She slowly uncurled and stretched, not making any effort to shield her movements from the girl still sleeping. They'd stayed up pretty late talking and comparing notes about the weapons, what she'd managed to do with hers and what Rosemary had accomplished as well.
She hopped down from the bed, shook herself, and went to get the door. "Good morning, Conway," she said as cheerfully as she could manage, at least managing to sound more alert than she really was. She'd gotten used to waking up earlier sometimes when Aunt wanted to do especially long lessons. The woman hardly ever slept. It was almost like she was some sort of old lady insomniac, except she was rarely tired. So weird.

Well she sounded chipper. That probably meant that she was a lot tired than she was letting on. Today was going to be a long lesson, of course, and Conway had once again been order to clean the room they were working in. He just hoped that Josephine wasn't going to have one of her sadistic episodes. He gave her a grin before setting the meals down. Rosemary was in the adjoining room, but he had been told several times that she needed to be watched at all times by either Thyme or him.
It didn't work like that, of course. Rosemary just had that habit of getting away. Josephine knew this, and hadn't punished Conway for it, thankfully. The young Hisstor walked over to the adjoining door and knocked on it forcefully.
Rosemary flopped out of bed and wandered over to the door, bleary eyed. What was with this old woman and waking up early? She opened the door to look up at Conway and then to breakfast.
Oh right. Josephine had an awesome cook that even dad was jealous of. She wagged her tail as she skipped over to the the meal. "Oh what a wonderful servant you have, Thyme."

Conway's answering grin helped to bolstered Thyme's mood a bit more. Well, whatever Aunt had planned for today, at least he wasn't giving her the you're going to have your ass handed to you face, which either meant he didn't know or it didn't seem terribly intimidating. Either was fine. At least she'd be able to enjoy breakfast with her sister and Conway.
"He's just great," she agreed, her own 'good morning' face a bit more upbeat now. Breakfast smelled as heavenly as always. Such a nice thing to wake up to every morning. "Without him around, Aunt probably would have driven me crazy in the first few weeks with everything I just didn't learn in the Wood, even if she wasn't trying to."
She bumped her nose against her sister's head, then nabbed a sausage link and wolfed it down. Ladylike manners weren't required where no one could see her being a pig - or a wolf, really - with her food.

Rosemary giggled and bumped her nose against her sister's cheek. "Hey, I would have driven Josephine up the wall regardless, which is worse?" She snorted before chomping on a few pieces of bacon. Mmmm, crispy.
Conway rolled his eyes briefly before looking at his own breakfast. Really, he hadn't been eating all that much like he should. Food just wasn't going down as well as he would have liked it to. Nerves really. Today all he really had was an apple. It would be enough to get him through the day, and if he could manage to convince someone that they wanted to leave early he could do chores during dinner.
He watched in mild interest as the girls ate. At least they were healthy. With a sigh he looked at the clock. They had to be there in twenty minutes, that was plenty of time. He manage to get Thyme's attention and point the door, giving her the signal for the proper time.

"Oh yes. Far be it from me to dispute the validity of that statement," Thyme agreed dryly, licking at the butter dribbling down the side of her plate before scarfing down the coin-sized pancakes one by one. Her mom had succeeded in making her adore the fluffy breakfast treats and her aunt's wonderful cook was just a wizard at making them. They weren't quite as perfect as Dad's pancakes tended to be... but they were amazing nonetheless. She still hadn't convinced the man to use walnuts and cream but someday she was determined to.
Her eyes flicked over to Conway when he made a gesture and she nodded, interpreting the time. Twenty minutes... they could finish breakfast easily in that time. She supposed Conway had already eaten his before coming up and wasn't hungry anymore. It was more fun when they all got to eat together, but she wasn't going to complain.
Licking off the last vestiges of butter and juices from her plate, she looked up at the biped and nodded her head. "Alright, I guess it's time to go downstairs now. Rose, you're going to be coming to the lesson or following Conway in whatever he's doing today?" She didn't realize he'd be 'participating' in some way today.

"I'll listen to the Aunty Joe rant. She says some pretty interesting stuff sometimes." Rosemary said as she finished her last piece of sausage. She hopped off the chair happily and trotted to the door.
Conway shook his head an simply made his way down the stairs. He sighed as he went to pick up the proper cleaning supplies so he could dust and clean things in the room. He would rather eat his tongue than get caught listening in on that woman again. He just really couldn't help being curious.
Aunt Josephine was already waiting on the couch. She was thumbing through the pages of a book with the vague traces of a smile on her face. Apparently she was enjoying what she was reading, and didn't notice the girls until Rosemary flopped on the couch in a very undignified manner. Josephine's left eyebrow twitched as she glared at the girl. Fine. Today she would scare her witless.
"Ready for today's lesson, Thyme?"

Thyme hopped and sat more primly than her sister, on very good behavior now that it was time for lessons. She enjoyed her lessons from her aunt, even if Rosemary came down to be disrespectful and ignore her, and she wanted to know what the woman was willing to teach. She just hoped her sister wouldn't distract her aunt, or her, from the lesson too badly. It was just slightly harder to concentrate whenever Rose was in the room.
"Yes, Aunt Josephine. I hope so." She'd learned to say that ever since her aunt threw something at her in the beginning of a lesson and then primly told her that she obviously wasn't. Apparently the woman had been having a good morning that day and wanted to play a joke. It had gotten a laugh out of her once she realized that she wasn't in trouble.
She wondered what they would be studying today... after their last lesson, it could be one of any number of things.

"We're going to go to the basement today. Conway will be helping me with the lesson, or at least, he needs to stop cleaning and fetch some water for us," Aunt Josephine said as she rose from her seat. She set her book on the coffee table and motion to the girls to follow. She watched as Conway skittered to fetch the things he was supposed to.
She waited until Rosemary, Thyme and Conway were with her at the door. She pulled a set of keys out from her coat and slipped over of them into the lock. With a very loud click the door swung open. With out hesitation the older woman placed the keys back in her jacket and made her way down the stairs.
The basement looked rather deary. It was made of faded gray stone, and the floor was made out of a slightly lighter sort of stone. It was generally dreary and unwelcome. The tapping of her heals echoed through the room as she made her way over to someone who was... chained to a wall.
It was a generally odd thing to have in your basement, but honestly it was in the basement for a reason. A biped cat, two of clubs, from a mix of two regions that weren't all that clear was looking at the woman with wide and frightened eyes as she stride towards him. Josephine stood in front of the feline, smirking. "All three of you, come here and take a good look at our guest."
Conway was terrified as he slowly made his way over, with a pitcher in his hand. She wasn't going to do anything horrible to this cat was she? He glanced at Rosemary, who was lingering at the edge of the room, before she decided it was safe to continue.
"Thyme, what do you think of this little feline guest? By looking at him, what do you think he has to offer? Your answers need to be swift, and his life may very well depend on them."
The cat shivered but remained silent.
