Besaba was carefully poking around a rather intimidating stash of books. Intimidating, perhaps, because they were every single book the library owned on surgical/medical knowledge and procedures. There was something she was missing! She'd been so close in a few of her tinkerings, and now she was left with a strange mess to clean up back home. She'd started making metal additions to the fleshy human/animal body, and got quickly bored of that. There had to be something better, something nobody had ever though of, or had, but hadn't dared to try. Really, she couldn't care less which it was. So long as it was successful and she could put it to any personal uses she had in mind. And she had many in mind. Very many. A book was flipped over the head of a nervous looking library attendant, who, every now and again, had the courage to ask 'do you need all of those still?' apparently it was getting late and they needed to re-sort and file them in their correct locations. Whatever. She'd do it later herself if they'd just bugger off for a few moments. A low guttural growl came from the feline, and when the nervous canine picked up a book she'd tossed hours before, her ears came flat to her skull as her lips peeled back to expell a rather nasty hiss. She couldn't help it, she was very very flustered and didn't like hands- everywhere- in her things. And they were hers because she was using them. Like half of the dimwitted lower class around here would shed a tear if she took every book in the stash home. She knew she'd find more if she looked in someplace bigger, more established, but even glancing in the direction of the Court of Diamonds made her uneasy. Too many bitter feelings, she always felt paranoid even a city away. Besides, she just wasn't Ready on a personal level. Not yet. Not for a while. Not until she built her name from the ground up like her mother before her. Genious woman, and what a cruel and unusual waste. She could have saved lives, she did save lives, she made people Better. And sure, she went a little overboard, but what was one life here and there to better thousands? Besaba had inherited her mother's opinions when she was old enough to talk, and maybe it was just memories that kept it so. "Useless, useless! I knew all THAT!" She spat and collapsed to the ground where she had been perched for the last several hours. The pink tigress was a lump of frustration best left undisturbed, even willing test subjects probably wouldn't help at this point, she was running out of theories and procedures to test With. Safely, at least.

[/img] One of the employees, a nervous looking canine, came walking up to her. “Idril . . . It would seem that the . . . patron will not leave.”The small mouse tilted her head at what her coworker had just told her. Seriously, they had the hours posted on the door. If their patrons could not abide by them then were simply going to have to put up with an upset. People often did not consider just how much it was that the librarians had to do to keep the library up and running. “I understand Ivan. I will take care of it.” With a pat on his arm she headed off towards where he had come from. Finding the black and bright-pink feline collapsed on the floor a large pile of books on the table. Raising an eyebrow at the sight she cleared her throat softly. “Ma’am, is there anything I can do to help you?” Just because she had frustrated her and her coworker did not meant that she had to step into the situation with that tone. Might as well try nice first, one never knew just how well that would work until they tried, right?

The set of blazing sapphire eyes met her with an even, cold stare. Well, it seemed fair for the book keep to go tattling to the owner of the establishment, after all, her snarl had had a nice 'no nonsense' ring to it. She was hoping it had been enough to keep away Any further disruptions, but alas, no. She wondered idly if the female would start using force at all on the Corvistowne female. Probably not. She'd just stand there and question her to death. "Not unless you're a medical or surgical practitioner, or a helpful Corvistowne with expertise in human flesh... are you?" She questioned, her humour coming off as snarkish as she felt in general.
It was obvious the feline hadn't slept in days. Many days. Many, Many days. But she normally didn't even when things were going her way. Though if she stayed awake much longer, legally she probably wouldn't be responsible for her actions. She hadn't eaten in a long time eager, and her stomach growled a reminder up at her. "I need these." She stated simply, knowing that the library didn't often lend out books and the like to strangers from out of town. Not that she cared, with such a large stack before her, they probably wouldn't notice if one or two went missing...
"Here." She sated, her voice crisp and grudging. A pile of books was shoved by her hindleg out into an accessable spot. She could part with those, and with any luck, it might distract everyone long enough for her to finish the book she had been sorting through. After all, they couldn't leave until everything was restacked properly, so, what would be the harm in leaving her the heck alone until then? Hm? Seriously.

She was quite taken aback by the feline's attitude. She was not some Page to be spoken to like that; she was one of the sub-managers, thank you very much. She was greatly insulted by the creatures inability to recognize that she was an Esterberry resident and not a Corvistownian.
She pushed away her frustration, giving the female no betrayal of her emotions. “I am regretful to inform you that I am an Esterberry, so I am unable to help you in your . . . research human flesh. However, I am aware that there are quiet a few Coverstownians here in the Capital so I am sure that you will be able to find someone who will know the answers you search for. What I can help you with though is finding any information in the texts. Your research for tonight, however, will have to end soon. You are more then welcome to come back in the morning. We open at six.”
She took the textbooks that the female had pushed towards her. Gathering them up she gave a small nod of her head before bringing them to the counter for Ivan to start shelving. She would head back to the female in a few more moments.

She noticed with idle curiosity how the woman seemed to get almost insulted at her insinuating that she might be, oh gods! A Corvistowne! How very uppity of her. This made Besaba think significantly less of her, but then again, beauty over brains always won in society. She was often socially ostracized for having both. It meant she was a monster, surely. Also, people took her kind for granted. Those with a drive, a natural ability, those Born to do something with themselves, those born with meaning were shunned because... because why? Because everyone else was jealous, as they spend their whole lives looking for meaning? Useless idiots. What is a number on a chest if you have no clue what you're supposed to Do with yourself?
Oh well. The assistant manager seemed to be content with the small bout of authority she'd tried to rain down on the feline, and she supposed that at least this female had some sort of clue what she was going to do with herself, her bigger purpose in life... however unexciting it would be in comparison to a medical and inventive genious like, say, Besaba. Well, she would be. Soon. Maybe with the help of this book. And that one. Hm. If she snuck out quickly, she might be able to nab them. But it seemed cowardly. And her stubborn pride was probably going to win this one out.
She pushed the rest of the books into one rather dizzying pile and strutted purposefully foward, the books in a worn satchel that she often took to keeping about herself. She had a few things in there prior to the library visit, buuuut, the female probably didn't want to know about Those. She couldn't help but smirk to herself, thinking of what expressions she could pull from the manager if she described what some of the independant contained organisms on her person could do if left to their own devices in a warm, receptive area... like the stomach... or eye... or any other protective tissue...
"I need these." She stated simply as she walked over to the entrance. "I intend to return at six." If they'd ever dealt with her type before, the 'crave knowledge to the point of sheer insanity' type, or just the... Corvistowne type... damn it, maybe everyone had a reason to be so on edge around her, well they'd probably know it would be impossible for her to stay away for long. Besides. She'd only gone through half of her well protected stash. The doors were inches away from her as she waited for someone to try and stop her or decide to call the battle a tie for now.

When the feline came out of her nest of books, some of them tucked into the satchel, the mouse glanced up at her words.
“That is fine, but please, let me log them out for you.” It would not take her but a moment to jot down the information of each book so the female could take them with her. She would admit there were probably more in her possession then the library allowed out but she was not about to say anything contrary on that issue. “It will take me but a moment,” she continued pulling out one of their large books in which they kept a record of which books were currently loaned out.
She was really hoping that the female would let her do their standard policy. She was glad to see that the female was leaving for the night but she would hate to have to notify the capital guards of a thief; especially since the female had said that she would return at six the next morning when they opened.

Hmmm, interesting. She hadn't expected to be treated so... equally, especially taking into consideration where she was from, how far away it was, and how Easy it would be to steal from the library. But, she had a temporary home in the capital, so it wouldn't be any trouble for her to get back at six so that the book could be used by someone else... not that it probably ever would, but still. Walking over to the counter, she made sure to take out all of the books, carefully, by herself, to avoid any, ah, accidents.
She simply didn't trust leaving her prized materials and experiments in her lab, unattended, and most of these were highly unstable and required a lot of further research. When the four books were laid out (she'd inconscpicuously grabbed two more), only then did she step back and allow the woman to do her job. Well, at least this had given her time to concentrate on something other than how frustrated she was. In fact, by the time everything was written down and she was ready to leave, she actually contemplated going out somewhere. Where? She had no idea. Besaba didn't exactly have any spare time. Ever.
And come to think of it, she could now easily spend the night up working on the little juicy bits of fun hiding in her bag. But... she was drained. Mentally, emotionally. A walk! She'd take the long way home, and have a nice walk. There, that would be her treat to herself. She worked herself quite hard, but the necessity was there. She took a few steps out onto the main road leading from the library and sighed, taking in the brisk night air. "Mmmm, kinda nice." She purred to herself, tail twitching in satisfaction.
She turned in the opposite direction of home, planning to do a wide circle around the outskirts, and then through the center of the city to get to the other side. Resettling her bag carefully, she hefted it over her shoulder and squirmed into the weight before beginning to walk.

She gave a small smile as she saw that for once it seemed like the female might cooperate with them. She waited for the female to place the books on the counter, starting to jot down the information of each book as it was revealed from the bag to help save on time.
After she had written all the information down for them, she slid them back towards her. “Alright, all done. It was a pleasure to have you here, hope to see you in the morning.” She said in parting as the canine made her way out of the library. After a moment of the female’s absence she made her way to the doors, locking them and putting the closed sign up.
“Alright Ivan let’s get all these books back on the shelves so we can head home as well.” While they did not mind staying late for a patron it was indeed ideal to at least be able to close up and go home themselves after a long day.

She heard the female emerging shortly after her, and couldn't help but pause a moment. She had been a little bit rude, hadn't she? Well, maybe this female knew something of what she was looking for this the books she had. Hmmm. Well, they were closing now, so whatever the mouse was about to do, she'd have to go somewhere and do something. Besides, she seemed like the interactive type. Turning in place, she began to saunter back towards the steps with a bit of an awkward gait.
"Ah, hello! I was wondering... you said before that you might be able to assist in finding specific things in these books. I'm Besaba, by the way. An... up and coming Corvistowne scienticif intelligence extraordinaire you could say." She chuckled modestly and continued up the stairs, hoping that her attempt at making peace would be accepted. Sure, it was kind of... low, to make up just because she might have needed the mouse's help, but a reason for interaction was a reason nonetheless.
"Sorry about keeping you." The words were unnatural to her, she didn't apologise often. At all. But, you attracted more flies with honey than vinegar, whatever that meant. She didn't consider herself vinegary on a regular basis, though it had been a day or two since her last bath. Hm. Still not vinegary however.

They were about done, and after a bit of vehement arguing from Ivan he had told her to go ahead of him. After protesting, to which he had just shoved her towards the doors, she had finally gave him a pointed look telling him to make sure that he did not stay too much longer.
She was kind of surprised when she saw that the canine was making her way back towards the library. Maybe she had forgotten something? She waited for the feline to get closer and then she heard her words.
“It is a pleasure to meet you Besaba, the name is Idril.” she returned in kind. The female wanted her help? Well that was definitely a chance of pace.
“I could probably help you find information in your books if you need. Research tends to be one of my hobbies more then my actual job, sadly. I will not be able to help you much tonight though, I have to open the library in the morning and so I need to get home pretty quickly. However, I will be more then glad to help you in the morning. You said you were coming back, did you not?”
She was more then willing to help the canine find whatever information it was that she needed she was just a little leery about staying out of doors and with a stranger no less. Tomorrow would defiantly be a better time for the mouse; she was feeling worn and tired from the long day.
((If Besaba agrees them my next post will be the next morning with Idril opening up the library ^ ^; <3))
