It was strange being on her own, not having Astyana around as at least a fleeting presence. No, her adoptive daughter was full grown and starting her own life, and Syraelia had to continue on with hers as well. If not just to keep busy and stave off the loneliness. It wasn't too terrible really, she had started off on her own and so she was more than capable of taking care of herself. In fact, on a somewhat cheerier note, she could now take part in aspects of life she'd had to ignore while Astyana was around. For example- dating, or... little bits of fun. She smirked to herself, glancing around the area in curiosity. Tonight she wanted to have fun, and laugh, and enjoy the company of someone. Of course, being home was probably terrible for that idea, who in their right mind came to Torquehelm of all places for a night out? Well she might have butchered that one, at least if nothing else she could taunt that pompous little... No, revenge wasn't her thing, but it was hilarious to see her mother's old best friend just gape in awe and disgust at her. Though her bindings made her of Torquehelm... well, not much else did. Certainly not the fleet of attractive males she always seemed to happen upon and capture for days on end. Her charisma and general outgoing nature was extremely uncommon for one from her realm, and it turned those of her village positively green with envy. Her mother had told her once that she was proud of her daughter for lifting her own curse, if only she had of done so for the rest of them. She'd never believed there was a curse. The residents had poisoned their own minds, and those who entered the realm were only bothered by the gloom that the residents radiated. But, logic and reasoning were not welcome when speaking of such topics, so she'd never told anyone her theory. Content to shake her head and save herself the embarassment of being around such a dramatic set of people, she normally left very quickly. Sometimes though, it was nice here. The pitch black of dark made everything feel more exciting, the glittering glow of houselights the only guide back from a daredevil romp through the forest. Sitting by the edge, she peered curiously into that pressing black nothing and wondered if somewhere, something in there was staring back. She liked to give herself the creeps sometimes.

(Life is conspiring to drive me mad... I'm sorry about not getting a post in last night, luff. x.x) As Cecilia slipped away from her Mother's home, Cecilia's downy soft fur was usually bristled with agitation. Her Father had arrived recently to visit and that hot air bag of a female had tried to tell her, Cecilia, what to do! There was no way on earth Cecilia was going to submit herself to the rules of another woman. Never. Of course, there wasn't much to say she'd submit to the rules of a man either...unless he knew just what buttons to press with this budding feminine fatale. With each step she took into the woods, the young deer's anger faded and she was left feeling unusually alone and even...a little sad. After all, she was used to her four brothers and her Mom surrounding her or for the wire-bound 'Cricket' to be following her. The loneliness made her pout, but the pout didn't last long before her big soulful eyes full upon something standing on the edge of the woods. Tilting her head in curiousity, the deer pranced noiselessly up to the Torquehelm staring into woods and butted her sweetly with her head. "What are you looking at?" With this question she pulled back, but purple eyes filled with curiousity and just a small demand for attention and her cottony little tail wagging eagerly behind her all the while.

Her mind felt completely empty, all the questions rolling around her head had faded into a certain resolved comfort. There was only the dark, the ever-pressing questions which didn't matter, and HOLY CRAP! She jumped at the feel of a small head butting against her side, turning quickly to see a small doe. What on earth was the child doing out at this hour? Oh well, she wasn't her mother, so she had no right to jump on her with questions or accusations. Of course, if she was lost... well, she certainly didn't Seem lost. She seemed to know full-well where she was going and what she was doing.
"I don't know. Nothing, I suppose." She said, smiling softly and resisting the urge to pet or coddle the young one. The growing of her child had made her miss the joys of having one so small to dote upon, and this doe was indeed adorable. She reminded her a lot of Astyana, obviously free spirited enough to have escaped her parent's watch, off on her quest for independance already. She had to suppress a chuckle at the uncanny likeness, shaking her head in bewilderment.
"It's getting late, and cool. Are you comfortable out here on your own?" It wasn't nagging nor commanding, it was merely a coy question to figure out just what the female was doing out by the edge of the woods at almost 10:00 at night. She didn't recognise the doe at all, come to think of it, and she wondered idly whose child she was. Torquehelm was small enough that she knew pretty much everyone within it, and was able to keep mental track of who came and went, whose children where wich and with whom, etc. Maybe her name would ring a bell.
"I'm Syraelia, might I ask your name?"

For a rather delicate little doe, Cecilia was definitely catty. When Syraelia jumped, Cecilia snickered faintly and pranced back as gracefully as she could with her bindings. Her little tail was held high, her purple eyes shining brightly as she peered up at the large feline. Unlike most other inhabitants of Torquehelm this Club not only had golden eyes but also seemed...rather happy.
Cecilia appeared to have 'broken her curse' or, perhaps, she had been born immune to it thanks to her father's Corvistownian blood? Or, much along the lines of Syraelia's thoughts, perhaps there was no curse at all? Either way, Cecilia was always happy to see more cheerful sorts like herself and her father.
"It's almost always cool and dark here, is it not?" Cecilia giggled once again, peering up at the bound female before her. "Besides, since you're here doesn't that mean I'm not really alone?" Despite the lateness of the hour, Cecilia really hadn't gone all too far before running into Syraelia. She was a smart enough girl to know to keep home just within range in the case that something bad were to truly happen. "I'm Cecilia! It's a pleasure to meet you."

Syraelia was amazed at her sly and micheviously happy personality. Until this day, she had assumed that she was the only one to escape the woe and despair that plagued the rest of the village's inhabitants. It made her mind work more on the concept of both the curse, and the child's parents. Perhaps she was of mixed blood? Even then, she looked heavily like a Torquehelm, so it would have made more sense for her to be like one. Perhaps there really, truly was no curse, how sad for everyone else.
"Yes, it is. Have you been here long? Or are you just... very perceptive?" She grinned toothily, golden eyes shining almost eerily in the dark. It was her most defining feature, she thought, and had received a number of comments on it, mostly from those also born and brought up in Torquehelm. It seemed the child's happiness rubbed off on her, as the more they talked, the more at ease and happy she felt. It was just, so rare to meet someone in this area who wasn't ready to slit their own throats at any sudden turn of bad luck.
"That is true, I suppose." A small chuckle was emitted as she marvelled at the child's saucy comment, for one so young she seemed so knowledgeable. Then again, Syraelia had never bragged to be the world's best genious. She knew a few things... mostly in a certain sexual art relating to her bindings (though god knows she hadn't had any fun Lately. One of the reasons she'd become a little more... irritable), but other than that, her coyness was practically nonexistant.
"Pleased to meet you as well Cecilia. I'm surprised I haven't seen you around before, though I suppose living near the city has made me miss out on any events happening here, home." She already felt a little homesick, and felt bad for feeling that way. It was the 'outsiders' who were meant to feel uncomfortable in this village, not her. Being away had apparently done much to change her.

When your parents were scientists, you learned big words without meaning to. Ophelia had never spoken 'baby talk' around her, never minced words. Cecilia learned from observance and she fast, even if Ophelia hated where the little doe put her knowledge. Not into science, not into mechanics, not even into politics... No, she put it all into the art of seduction; an art she'd not learned from her Father. Perhaps it was just an inherent trait of her Diamond rank?
Ah well.
"I live here on and off, but while I'm here...it usually pretty cold and...not pleasant." Even the chipper Cecilia had to admit it was dreary, but it was a nice change from the hustle and bustle of Corvistowne. "It's nice to meet you too, Syraelia." For a moment she found herself admiring the other's golden eyes, wishing her own were more interesting so as to stand out in a crowd like Syraelia must've. "Well, you not seeing me might have something to do with the fact that I move a lot. Mostly between here and Corvistowne." She leaned in a little, nodding as she spoke though her voice was bland with the frustration she held for the woman she spoke of. "That's where my Father lives and works."

Ahhh, so the young one was part Corvistowne too! That made sense, and would explain why Syraelia hadn't seen or heard of her until this very day, she obviously didn't frequent this realm as much as the other, or perhaps she was another one drawn to the city? Her words made the feline consider that as the reason, only because she, too, knew how it feel to be the only one relatively chipper and normal in a place so full of depression and hopelessness. She simply couldn't live here and be healthy.
"It is always cold, and not pleasant. I think you and I are better suited in more... bright and cheerful places." She smiled to herself, speaking her thoughts out loud as she considered the small femme. As much as Syraelia loved having golden eyes, she had to admit the doe was quite beautiful, decked in a perfect suit of black and purple. If anything, Syraelia had always wanted to stick out as little as possible, but genetics and parents had made that rather difficult for her.
"What does your father do exactly? Is he here with you and your mother, or is he elsewhere?" She wondered idly who the doe's mother was, as she probably knew her as a faint aquintance, and... Syraelia was a curious breed of Torquehelmian, in that she enjoyed following the roots of the families born or living in Torquehelm. She had yet to have kids of her own, but she could only assume the father wouldn't be from such a dreary place as this, so her children would have to be lovely mixes like the one before her. It was a nice thought, she missed the company...

Cecilia beamed up at Syraelia. Her thoughts exactly! Who actually wanted to live their life out here in dreary old Torquehelm? She wanted bigger and brighter things! Like the city! or the Court of Diamonds itself!
"Mhm! Who would want to live in such a boring place?" She shook her head, careful of her earrings. "I'd rather live in the Capital! You meet so many interesting people there!"
"Father's a chemist, though she works mostly in genetics... I don't really understand any of that." She pouted slightly, looking a little disgruntled. She obviously didn't enjoy her Corvistownian heritage. No, Cecilia preferred beauty over science hands down. She paused for a moment, noticing a bit of confusion and smiling slightly. "My father's a woman." Cecilia's nose crinkled slightly, looking displeased. "It was an experiment or something, she says... My dad's female, my mom's male. Hmph. She's visiting right now though, yeah...but she lives in Corvistowne and my Mom's her assistant."
Yeah it was an odd family, even Cecilia knew that, but she had long ago grown accustomed to the oddity of the situation.
"Even though he's Torquehelm though, my Mom's real great... Funny and always working on his little mechanical toys, I'll have to show you sometime! They're really nifty!"
