It was early morning and Father had kicked her out for the day again and Dilis was.. bored. She had nothing to do she was in dire need of some fun. She didn't know the city as well as she thought she had so she needed a companion-one that knew what to do and quickly. Every day she came to Capital City and every day she tried so hard to read her book that now she figured she best just give up. Dilis sat down near a fountain and peered into the water. My goodness, it's pretty here. Too bad Father doesn't come with me often... She threw a coin in and wished that next time he might join her. Thinking it silly, she got up and started to wander down the street when she suddenly felt like she wasn't alone. Paranoid as she was, she looked around but didn't see anyone. just because I don't see anyone, does not mean they are not in fact there...Trying to push the thoughts aside (she was prone to this type of silliness), she hummed a little song.

It was early, and that was why Ceren was in such a foul mood. Mori's cheerful banter didn't help the situation in the slightest, and the way her brow was wrinkled seemed to be an announcement to the world that she would much rather be in bed thank you very much. Her hair was completely dishevelled, her feathers all sticking out of alignment, and she was truely a sight to behold. She couldn't help but wonder to herself why it was that she had decided to come home for a time, when she could be warm (and asleep!) in the comfort of the Diamond courts. At least Asha wasn't with them. Mori's energy was already almost too much. And, indeed, Ceren's sister was a complete study of opposites. Where the Lakeland sparrow was dishevelled and angry-looking, Mori had a wide smile plastered on her face. Her hair was combed and parted into two neat braids, and every feather was in alignment on her slim frame. She had even gone so far as to tuck a flower into a braid! As they walked, the two spoke occasionally, mostly Mori chattering on and Ceren nodding and grunting her few replies. When the Avington feline came into view, looking startled, Mori waved with a kind of happiness that was unique to her. " Hello, there!"

Dilis thought she heard some voices coming so she stood up quickly. She turned around and there were two sparrows walking towards her. Normally she would have run off but one was smiling to the other so it didn't seem like she was in any trouble. She was having a terribly boring morning any way so really she welcomed their visit.
"Well, hello to you too" Dilis smiled. "My name is Dilis. What are you two doing up so early? I have barely seen anyone since I got here." She surveyed the two quickly, one seemed nice (the one that spoke to her) and the other just didn't seem happy with life this morning. Well, not everyone is a morning person I suppose. Dilis turned to the one who seemed a lot happier, "That is quite the lovely flower in your hair" She said sweetly. Yes, she seemed nice indeed.

Mori seemed to positively glow as her greeting was returned, and she nodded her head slightly. "Nice to meet you, Dillis. I'm Mori, and this is my sister, Ceren." she chirped. Ceren made a little effort, that much was at least true. She tried her best to wipe her exhaustion away and give the feline a short, though hopefully reassuring, grin. Really, she didn't hate the world. She hated mornings, and morning people were honestly quite confusing.
"We're going out for groceries,[/b]" the taller of the sparrows finally spoke, glancing at her sister out of the corner of her eye. "Mori insisted that this is the best time to do it. I'm not sure I believe her.[/b]" Really, she honestly and truely did not want to be here. Not at all. Not even a little. Even if Mori had found someone to talk to, Ceren just... Wanted sleep.
"Oh!" Mori grinned slightly, covering her beak with a hand. She blushed easily, but her feathers helped to cover it. "Thank you. I... I really like flowers." very sweet, and very shy. Those two words summed the bird up perfectly.

Dilis was pleased they had stopped to chat with her regardless how shy they were. Most would have passed her by but these two seemed the nicer sort.
"Mori, Ceren; It is a pleasure to meet you both!" Dilis squeaked. "Groceries? Father lets me get the groceries sometimes" She smiled. It was a fond memory for her of going to the store with her father and he would carry her on his back. It was one of the more happier memories she had with him. He would really have to come out with her more, she didn't understand why he didn't want her to go out much. The world seemed like a safe place... Of course, Torquehelm hadn't seemed that bad either when Dilis had stumbled there.
"Oh absolutely! Morning is the best time to do all your errands because there are fewer people around. Most people want to sleep in and do their work later but that is when it is most crowded." She turned to Ceren. "Your sister is a smart girl and you should believe what she tells you."

Ceren winced at the squeak. Okay, it really was too early for this, and maybe she could manage to pawn Mori off on the feline? That wouldn't be too bad, not in the slightest... It seemed like the two had a fair amount in common, and then maybe she could return home, and to her bed.
Mori looked incredibly pleased at Dillis's words. Someone finally agreed with her! "I love shopping for groceries. There's just so much to see in the markets, I just wish that I had someone more cheery to go with me." she grinned, giving her sister a teasing glance. Ceren returned the glance, then rolled her eyes slightly. Right, so since her sister only wanted to shop at this inhumane hour, she was no fun.
But there was an opportunity to be found her, and her smile widened. Her diamond charm crept into her words, as she looked from the other sparrow to Dillis. "Oh, I believe her. I just don't like going out so early.[/b]" she brushed a strand of hair from her eyes, yawning and covering her beak with a hand. "And since that's the case... Would you like to go shopping, Dillis? Then Mori could have a much more entertaining companion.[/b]" she gave the feline her best smile.

Dilis giggled to herself, Mori was so terribly nice and she liked her a lot. She was bubbly and didn't seem to get sad very often... just the type of person she always wanted to be around. Ceren seemed nice too but Dilis seemed to have more of an affinity for Mori, she was closer to her own personality.
"Aw, it's alright Ceren, I understand that not everyone is a morning person. Some people are on a different schedule." Dilis smiled. I would love to go with you, Mori! Ceren can sleep in and neither you nor I will be alone today." Dilis was excited by the idea, she was happy to have made a friend. I hope I can call her her a friend any way. Dilis had acquantainces but she was definitely lacking in the real friend department.
"Though it seems it were for other motives, Dilis teased. "It was still an awfully good idea of yours Ceren. Perhaps we will run into each other again when you are a bit more awake, dear."

Ceren would have given a sigh of relief if she wasn't still trying to be as polite as possible. That had worked even better than she'd imagined it would. Feeling incredibly pleased with herself, she allowed herself to relax slighty and give the Avington feline a grateful smile and a small nod. It was amusing to see exactly how far her Diamond charm could take her, and she was constantly amazed to see that it was, consistantly, quite a bit further than she'd previously imagined.
"I appreciate it, Dillis. It was a pleasure meeting you.[/b]" Mori's head snapped up and she gawked at her sister for a minute. Wow, Ceren really was getting good at social niceties. She would have to tell Zane the next time she saw him. They'd had a bet going that Ceren would never understand or be good at dealing with social situations without saying something rude. "I'm sure I'll see you again sometime.[/b]" with a small wave, the sparrow turned to leave.
Mori shook her head a little apologetically. "Sorry for that delay. But at least we have each other's company, right?" she smiled cheerily, picking up her basket once more. "Is there anywhere in particular you would like to go?"

Dilis smiled to herself, she knew what Ceren had been trying but she liked Mori so really she didn't mind at all. "It's not problem at all, Mori. I hope you get some rest, Ceren."
"Oh, I have no doubt we will meet again.. perhaps next time you'll be more awake. Take care Ceren." She bowed her head at Ceren and before she knew it, she was gone.
Turning back to Mori, she said "Not to be worried, Mori. I have absolutely nothing to do today and I am delighted to have your company." She smiled. "Well, there was one place I had been hoping I could stop in today. The shopkeep is terribly nice and I enjoyed his company the last time I was in his shop. I Hope that is alright with you? Other than that, I hadn't had anything planned for today if you had any ideas."

Ceren gave the feline a short, formal bow, and grinned to her sister. She was ever so grateful to the feline, and if they ever met again she would be sure to treat her to lunch or something. Anything, really. For letting the sparrow return to her bed, Dillis had earned her respect and was hugely appreciated.
Mori smiled happily, looking around and clutching her basket with both hands. "I would love to see this shop! I need to get some bread and vegetables, and maybe some fruit for my younger sister." she glanced at Dillis, expression thoughtful. "Maybe... Maybe you can meet her at the end of the day. We'll have to see how we feel then." After Asha's "adventure", Mori was terrified of doing anything that could put the girl in danger. She would need to find out how Dillis felt about Aces before they stopped in to see the skunk.
That slightly moody thought vanished quickly, though, as soon as she had the road under her feet once more. She laughed, a musical sound. "After we get our errands done, we can do anything! Everything!" her joy was an intoxicating thing, and she shielded her eyes against the sun. They began to walk, Mori leading the way at least for the time being. "The grocer I like is on Pine... Is that anywhere near the shop you'd like to visit?"
It felt good, having someone new to spend time with.
