Shinrai seemed to have given up entirely again, and after his last sad attempt to tell her to get lost, he said nothing more for the rest of the walk. She followed him back to his place, enjoying the cool night air. She was also feeling the rather childish and odd urge to poke him in the back, or dip his non-existent pigtails in ink, or grab the football away from at the very last moment before he was going to kick it. Just to get some kind of reaction out of him, because that was the entire point. If he was going to be apathetic about the whole affair, then she was going to lose interest, and she was feeling too mean-spirited at the moment to want to cave into boredom.
She didn't actually pay much attention to the apartment when they reached it, choosing instead to watch the stallion, who had merely dropped his bag upon entering and began searching for something in the kitchen.
"Nice place," she said, flatly.

The stallion ignored the woman for the moment-- gads, where the snot were his meds-- before it occurred to him to call back, c[olor=2BB22E]"Close the door."[/color] He banged a cupboard closed angrily, unable to locate it. It had to be somewhere in the apartment; he'd used some not too long ago. Where in the world.... he moved back out of the kitchen and headed past the woman with only a swift glance that said nothing at all. Really, he wasn't paying attention to her, especially when it occurred to him to return for his bag and carry it with him back into his bedroom.
He dropped it gently onto his bed, only vaguely aware of his need to be careful with the bottle within it. He continued on to his bathroom to start going through those shelves in hopes that perhaps he'd moved it and just forgotten the action.

It really wasn't very intelligent of him to drop the bag and leave it unattended. Especially when he was doing nothing to provide Mnem with decent distraction. Had he spoken, she probably would have gotten involved in the conversation--or, more likely, argument--and not really noticed the bag at all. As it stood, it beckoned to her little glittering jewels, and she stepped over to it curiously while Shinrai went about his business. If he wasn't paying attention, it was his own fault.
Most of the bag's contents were not terribly fascinating. Pencils. Books. Pens. Some papers. Standard fare, really. Then there was the bottle. It was pear-shaped, with a small stopper at the top, and the fluid inside was bright green-brown, like snake skin. She fiddled with it absently, turning it over, examining. It didn't look like any kind of poison she had ever made. She wondered what it was--and, perhaps more importantly, why the hell Shinrai had it.
Only one thing for it, then.
"Darling!" she called, cheerfully. "What a lovely little bottle. You really must explain to me what it is."

It was her voice.... it caused his brain to pound harder. The stallion paused and briefly rested his head against the mirror as her words washed around him in a tsunami of agony. Oh, for the love of everything, just shut up, Mnem. Though the words didn't come out, thankfully. He didn't have the patience or pain management to deal with her tongue should she know exactly wot he was thinking.
After several long minutes of thought and dealing with listening to her, her words finally processed completely and he cursed deep and hard. The man moved suddenly back into his bedroom to glare at the woman and put out a hand. "Nothing of interest and certainly none of your concern." He was prepared to retrieve the bottle by force, especially since it was meant for the woman, which was rather ironic since the potion was meant for her.

Oh, really. Nothing of interest. None of her concern. Those were very much the wrong words to spout, if he wanted the bottle back so badly. It had become interesting and of her concern the moment she had found it in the bag--never mind that she had been snooping. Mnem took a step back and narrowed her eyes. He really would have been better off just telling her. Now her curiosity was really piqued, and she wasn't going to back off until she had her answers.
"I'm sure," she said, and didn't bother to try to repress the sarcasm. She tumbed the bottle possessively. "Really, now, what is it? Is it of so little consequence, of such little effect, that I could, say...smash it harmlessly against this wall? Toss it out the window? Dump it down the drain?" Her mouth pulled into a mean little smile. "Pour it on you?"

He -almost- didn't react, but really he flinched at her speaking yet again. His body was tense, so hopefully she wouldn't catch it when he felt his body tense further at her threat. 'That's hardly necessary,' he wanted to say, but his head was pounding just a bit too much and he gave a frustrated and annoyed growl.
Abruptly, Rai realized that if Mnem had the potion in hand, that meant she had somehow managed to procure it from his bag, which also meant that she had been digging through his.
He wasn't really certain wot prompted the reaction, though he had a good guess, but he lunged suddenly at the woman to catch hold of her arm. "Wot the *# do you think you're doing, Mnem?" His voice was low and soft, but less from just his anger and more from the pain.

Mnem jerked her arm, trying to wiggle out of his grip. She didn't like unexpected touching. She initiated contact; that was just the way things were done. She glowered at him. If he hadn't wanted his things rifled through, he shouldn't have left them sitting out for anyone to get at. It wasn't her disregard for personal property; it was his inability to properly stow away his things.
"I was merely amusing myself," she said shortly. She held the bottle back and out of his reach with the arm that was not currently captive, looking for all the world like a child taunting an annoying sibling. Which was probably an apt comparison. "Now, if you would care let go of me, you can tell me what this is and I can put it down. Does that sound reasonable to you? Perfectly reasonable. No need to pitch a fit."

The stallion felt the same rising frustration he always did when she pulled this freakin' act. Always the calm one, always the one in control. She was quite aptly a ^$*. And he always had to just sit and accept it and step down when she got like this so she could always have -her- way. Oh, there was no compromising for Mnem! Because she was so *#$$!@& holy about everything, like she was some sort of divine gift to the world when so far all she'd really managed to do was corrupt it further. Oh, yes, let's give it all freakin' up for Mnem!
"Not only," His voice was still low and dangerous. "Does the world -not- revolve around you, Mnem, you -don't- have to be occupied every bloody second. This is a personal belonging, among the rest of my personal belongings, in -my- *#$$!@& apartment!" He didn't realize that his voice had risen nor that, in an effort to keep from throttling the woman, he'd tightened his other hand on the neck of the potion's bottle. He didn't even know wot else he was about to say, but a sickening crack blew all the thoughts from his mind.
Perhaps it had been the time carried around in the bag, or maybe the bottle just wasn't that strong, but the crack from the neck shot suddenly down the side and split the bottle open.
Rai watched in slow motion as the liquid made good its escape to pour down on Mnem's head and all he could calmly say was, "Ah, ^$."

There was currently terrible liquid pouring over her head, and this did not make her happy at all. She was not the subject of experiments. She conducted them. This was beyond unacceptable. She was so engrossed in her anger concerning this unexpected occurence that she didn't even consider carefully explaining to Shinrai that while yes, the world did not technically revolve around her, as this would fly in the face of all established facts of the universe, she did in fact care about herself more than anyone else and this was a perfectly healthy attitude to maintain.
But there was too much rage for attempting an eloquent defense of egotism. She threw her strength into shoving the stallion away. Not that it would be terribly effective, all things considered, but fury usually lent some extra heft, and it made her feel better.
"What in unholy hell have you done?" She didn't attempt to touch her head. She didn't want whatever this was to spread. She would try to deal with it when Shinrai told her what it was.
