"Yes, that sounds fine... I'm sure the Leverets can take care of them so long as I'll be able to look at them again when I'm not feeling so tired." Exhausted would probably be a better word, but the emotions were still running high and keeping her from succumbing to the lure of sleep just yet. The warmth of her Jack against her was fast undoing that, however.
She leaned over to nudge each of them, their beautiful gray fur only barely showing on their new little bodies, soft and warm to the touch. How strange-looking they were this young. She'd never had cause to see infants before. Even when she'd been a child, the old Doe who looked after them all kept the exceptionally tiny babes away from the rest of them so that they didn't accidentally harm the squirming things.
When he moved to rest against her, she allowed herself to settle even more and sighed, eyes going half-lidded. Now the tiredness was starting to hit her. But not before he explained what he'd said.
She couldn't find words. All she could do was stare up at him for a moment, speechless, and then tuck her head down to rest against his chest. There were new tears prickling at the corners of her eyes and she ignored them, so happy that she couldn't speak. Her body took over after that and she drifted off to sleep.
((Do you think this thread is just about finished? *headtilt*))
