Shinrai gave a low, annoyed sigh. ”I should just leave you here,” he told the black bird. But he wouldn’t. ”Wot’s the likelihood of you getting your foot under you?” He didn’t have a real reason to address her; he already knew she couldn’t answer; the gurgle was a dead give away. His ears flicked back and he turned to the barkeeper, saying over his shoulder to Astrid, ”Help her up; we might as well get out of here.”
Rai cursed softly as he paid both his –and- Lore’s tabs. She owed him whenever she woke up. And where was he going to stash her? A hotel would cost money and even the little arrogant, angry heron didn’t deserve to be dumped in the street where she could be kidnapped or worse. The cheapest answer was…. Gads, blast it freakin’ all.
Rai turned back to the two birds. ”Get her to drink some water; maybe that’ll help with the hangover. Lore.” He gave the bird a stern look. ”Don’t you dare throw up when we get there.” He hated vomit, a fact made worse by the fact that he couldn’t. The whole idea was just revolting.

Astrid blinked rapidly. He hadn't counted on his new friends being lushes. Well, the horse didn't seem to be a lush, but the other heron... She was definitely a boozer. At least, as far as he could tell. "Alright," he said, hefting his shoulder under one of her wings. "...You know, we may as well just carry her. It'll be faster."
Astrid waited for the horse to decide the best way to get her mobile. He didn't have much experience with this- as far as he knew. Still, this forced cooperation between himself and the horse felt almost like what normalcy should feel like. Well, normal for drunkards. He supposed everyone had their hay day. Gads, for all he knew, he could be a drunkard. Maybe this was normal for him, and that's why it felt normal. He dredged up a drinking song from somewhere in the depths of his memory and started singing softly and offered Lore some water. He doubted the other heron would be able to drink it without spilling, but that didn't really matter. "Where to?" he asked.

Loreta tried very hard to drink the water. It was difficult with her lack of coherency, but some of it did make it in her mouth. It hardly helped. All she knew was that she would rather die than throw up, or at least she'd throw up in her mouth before admitting defeat. She may have been a light weight, but she still had some for of dignity.
She didn't put up any protest as she was dragged down to whatever destination. She simply hoped that they would end up some place safe. What was there for her to do as the two men carried her to an unknown destination? She listened to the drinking song--it sounded familiar. Perhaps it was something that her father would sing, the bastard. It was far too soft for that though... it didn't matter.
She let out a sigh, a smile on her beak. What a lovely night it had turned out to be. If only her headache would vanish with her anger.

It was awkward for both of the creatures to get beneath the black wings and even more awkward with her single leg to get her going down the street. They were slowly managing it and though the stallion didn’t necessarily want the bawdy tune, well, at least it seemed to help keep Lore quiet.
”Up this street, Astrid,” the stallion directed the other bird. They were in a fairly nice neighbourhood; certainly not the highest class area in town, but still much nicer than the bar they had long since left behind them. From that turning it was only a few more minutes of stumbling along before Rai brought them before the door of a nice set of apartments. In a moment he had the door open and the three of them slipped in. After a moment of hesitation, Rai directed Astrid in helping him take the black heron into the bedroom. They laid her out on the bed, and the stallion gave one more soft admonition to be certain she didn’t vomit. The stallion then herded the red bird back out of the room and into the front area.
The stallion gave an annoyed sigh and glanced at his other undesired guest. ”Well, would you like to eat or something?” He might not be overly pleased about the circumstances, but he might as well let the others make the best of the situation.

Astrid let the song die on his lips as they left the seedier part of town. "Is this where you live?" he asked the stallion, impressed. It surprised him that someone he met in such a shady bar lived in one of the nicer neighborhoods. But then, the horse did outrank him by more than a little. Shoot, for all he knew, he lived in a decent neighborhood as well. He sighed wearily, wishing he knew.
Something- maybe manners- made Astrid hesitate when they entered Rai's house. He almost felt like he should take off his shoes, or at least wipe his feet; but that would have been difficult with the extra weight they carried. "Do you live here alone?" he asked conversationally. He tried to control his curiosity, but he couldn't help looking around the place.
"Where should we leave her?" he asked, forcing himself to focus on the task at hand. "Is there a spare room, or....?" ...maybe you'd give up yours for the night? He wondered if the horse would be so chivalrous. Maybe. He was betting on a spare room. He wondered if the horse would offer them coffee or tea. He had to stifle a smile. Probably not.
((sorry that took me so long, guys i've been slammed lately ;.; ))

”Actually, that was the only bedroom and here’s hoping she enjoys her time there.” His tone was wry; the female had also better appreciate the gesture and not throw up in his room. He’d go in and take watch over her in a little while just to be certain she didn’t manage to kill herself or destroy his few belongings. But first he was going to make sure the other bird was at least some form of comfortable.
”Yes, I do live here alone. So don’t worry about raiding the kitchen as needed. Before I retire, at least, is there anything I can prepare for you? Show you where something is?”
Really, he’d gotten enough water and bread in his system, he should be fine, though he wanted a little more water before actually going to sleep. He was also going to pull out some blankets and things so Astrid could make himself comfortable on the couch. The stallion just hoped he had enough that he’d still have enough to make himself some sort of sleeping area on the floor of his bedroom.

She was alone. Something inside Loreta knotted up. As much as she pushed people away she didn't want to alone forever. She hazily looked around the bed room. He didn't have much. He even had less than her.
Was he just as alone as she was? That was doubtful. People seemed to gravitate towards him. She had, after all. She choked back her alcoholic sickness. Being able to think was a feat enough, now trying not to ruin the poor man's bed sheets was twice as hard.
Then again. She was used to pain. Even if she wanted it to go away. She thought about calling out? What was the point of that. It was all so very hopeless. She would always be alone in the world. She turned over, only to find that she had a date with the floor. The smack was louder than it should of been--but that was caused by her vice hitting the ground.
How was she still conscious as she whimpered, she wasn't sure. She probably couldn't talk for a while though. Ouch.

"Um..." Astrid hesitated. "Maybe... I should find other accommodations..." He didn't mean to be rude after the horse had gone to the trouble of being hospitable; he just felt like he was imposing. It rubbed him the wrong way somehow.
"I appreciate the offer, though," he said. "As well as the company. Rai, perhaps we'll meet again. Maybe when I've figured things out a bit." He thought to say goodbye to the other heron as well, but he wasn't sure whether she was still coherent or not. "Um, tell her goodbye for me, will you?" He motioned to the room Lore was in. He showed himself to the door and called another soft "thank you" over his shoulder.
((sorry, y'all; it's been so long since i rped, i have a hard time remembering to post now. you guys have fun, though!))

The stallion watched in bemusement as the male heron made his swift exit and the horse shook his head lightly at just how quickly Astrid was in getting out of the door. The Marshdweller wondered briefly if he should stop the other man, but a sudden and loud THUMP! swivelled one of his ears backwards at an alarming pace and then he leapt to his bedroom door, knocking it open to quickly scan the room. He cursed under his breath as he caught sight of Lore on the floor and he made his way swiftly to her side, doing his best to get her back up carefully.
"Wot's this nonsense, woman?" he asked her lightly, trying to cover his concern with a hint of acrid sarcasm. "Are you trying to ruin my floors? My landlord's already ticked about the hoof marks." Actually, a generous "fee" had taken care of that problem and now the stallion didn't have to worry about it. He was worried about the woman and her ridiculous bindings. The stallion had nothing against Torquehelm, but after meeting Lore he found himself wondering about the mental capabilities of some of the parents there.
