Author: Arielle Guthrie
Characters: Secret for Now...
Timeline: Current
Setting: Capital City
Word Count: 659
Author's Note
This fanfiction has been, an extremely long time coming. Think, "before the site even started up" long time coming. I've been guarding this secret for so long, it's become painful XD;. So because of the fact that the fanfiction....in its unfinished state...is already 15 pages in word, and because I seriously can't bare to keep the secret anymore, I figured I'd finally let everyone know what Silvanus' secret is. The fanfiction...that was originally just going to be posted in one big wallop of a post, will now be broken into a chapters for easier reading.
I'm REALLY very curious to see everyones reaction to this Chapter in particular. Even if you just skimmed through it, if you could just leave a one sentence comment, you have no idea how much that would mean to me. Nat can vouch that this has been my "Darling Project" for some time XDDDD. BTW Nat...I hope you enjoy the chapters to come <3....

It was an encounter that Silvanus could never have dreamt of. Not even in his wildest dream, or what would be in this case, his wildest nightmare. It was to mark the beginning of the end.
The days had grown long and tiring, and more then ever Silvanus felt as if he was butter spread over too much bread. His steps were labored, his eyes sunken, his over all look haggard, and he had not been to visit Ophelia or Astyana and the children in quite some time. He was sure that Ophelia was still recovering from what he had told her, and he feared even looking upon her. In truth, he didn’t know just how angry she was with him, but that hardly mattered. How could she not hate him? Astyana and the children seemed to be doing fine the last he had come by, but with the state he was in, as well as Igal’s continued dislike for him, he decided it was probably best not to visit his younger children or Astyana for a while. At the very least, until he could sort out his life into something that was vaguely livable. If anything, however, his life was about to get a whole lot less livable.
He was on his way back from the teashop he most frequently visited, to refill his tea stash. He had run out more recently of his favorite teas, and he knew that this particular shop was the only place he could find the types and the quality for a moderate price. It was strange that in his quest for comfort, he had unknowingly stumbled upon what would ultimately and completely undo him.
It was only a matter of time before Silvanus’ senses alerted him to the fact that he was being followed. Silvanus’ eyes wrinkled a little as he slowly came to a halt, holding on to the parcels in his arms tightly and turning his head to look behind him. He saw only the empty cobblestone streets of Capital City at night staring right back at him. He turned his entire body around slowly; continuing to stare and look around, his ears perked forward listening intently for any sounds. The hair on the back of his neck raised beneath the blue mane that caressed his shoulders in a ragged unkempt manner, and he began to wonder, if maybe his mind was beginning to play tricks on him. He hadn’t slept well the night before after all; maybe it was his mind beginning to falter under all the stress and lack of sleep.
However, he couldn’t seem to shake the feeling that he was not the only one on the streets this night. That was when he heard a flap of cloth behind him, as if someone had just stepped behind him. Silvanus’ eyes went wide, and he turned to meet his antagonist.
”No…no, you’re dead.” Silvanus stammered, dropping every parcel he was carrying, his legs trembling and pulling him backward with one or two long strides. His eyes could have popped out of his skull the way he stared horrified at the beast before him, his hair puffing up and standing on end. Like he had seen a ghost…
The creature simply raised an eyebrow, his lips spreading painfully slow into what appeared to be a smirk. He gathered his cloak up in one hand, making a similar flapping noise to the one heard previously so that it’s ebony beauty wouldn’t be dirtied by the damp cobblestone streets, and the parcels as he stepped over them with a powerful stride. ”Now, now Silvanus. Is that any way to greet your own brother after so long? Mother would be ashamed. She thought us both much better then that.” he tsked, his voice coming to Silvanus’ ears in a deep and resonating sound. His smile widened to show his sharp teeth, a small chuckle unable to stay contained behind his jaws.
