(This is right after Aderlass banished her from the Courts for three weeks)
This morning was not going to be good; Dilis had just gotten back from the courts and she was a wreck. She shook and was on the verge of passing out... all for not wanting to tell her Father. He was going to blow a gasket, this she knew; it was an unforgivable thing for her to make a fool of herself and her family in the Courts and Father would not let her forget it either.
"YOU DID WHAT! DILIS ELENA Ó BRAOIN, you mean to tell me you have sullied our name in the Court of Clubs?" He. was. fuming. Ungrateful girl, he gave her everything and only asked this one thing in return.
"I-I had not meant to be so formal with him... I just... I just was excited to have a friend in the Courts and now I have nothing..." She cried. She wanted so badly to have made a friend in Queen Aderlass, he was so nice to her before... she really had not meant to show him disrespect.
"Well in doing so you have disgraced this whole family. He gave you three weeks, right? Well for those three weeks you will not be allowed back here. Pack your bags Dilis, you are leaving Avington until the matter is cleared up. If you so much as step foot back here before that time is up, patrol will be waiting on hand to escort you out. You are my daughter and I will always love you but right now I cannot even stand to look at you. Leave my sight."
At this he turned and walked to his lab, imagine her thinking she could do this to him and everything would be fine afterwards. Well she would have to learn, harsh or not.
"Y... yes Father..." She sobbed into her stuffed bunny, Kirsten.
She was curious as a kid about Rabbits but Father would not give in to her fairy tales, he told her everyone knew Rabbits were not real and she needed to get her head out of the clouds... her mother, however used to tell her stories about the Rabbits. She really was the best storyteller...
Hugging Kirsten to her body, she walked sadly upstairs to pack. She was not sure where she would go or what she would do but she figured she would be okay. She could always go to visit Uncle Malachi until her time was up, Father had let it slip one time that he had a place in Capital City... it would not take her long to find him, she was quite aware of what his taste was.
After she had packed she sat down at her delicate little princess desk and wrote a note for Father.
Dearest Father,
I know you may be upset with me now but I promise I will make this up to you; I will do what I can to be accepted into the Courts as a Jack. I am not the type to just sit and allow this to happen. I am going to see Uncle Malachi about staying in the Capital City while I wait for the three weeks to be up. Please seek him if you wish to contact me.
I love you Father even if you do not love me,
Dilis
She batted at the tears that had formed as she wrote and sealed the letter. Dilis walked back downstairs and to Father's lab door and laid the letter down against it. She was not sure when she would see him again, but she was going to work her damnedest to make sure it was sooner than later....
