So... fic. Of Xiven... taking off her bindings. There we go Sorry if it's awful.
She greeted the floor with a crash.
Her nose felt like it was going to bleed again. Honestly, after so many years she thought her catlike balance would make up for it. No, no it wouldn't.
Public humiliation wasn't exactly Xiven's favorite thing. How many times had she tripped in front of all the people in the palace? Too many times to count anymore. This was the last time she would give a show to all the pretty people staring at her. She was an adult now, she could do what she wanted.
That included taking off her damn bindings. They were loud, they were obnoxious and they made walking a pain in the ass. More than enough reasons to take them off. Slowly she pushed herself off of the ground. Her ears pulled back as she sat herself in a proper position. And she began to take them off.
The one thing that made her pause was the gasp from her mother. It was a brief pause. She continued to struggle with them for a moment before removing them completely. Then she took them in her mouth and trotted down the corridor. This would be the last time she had to deal with her bindings. Ever. Loud and horribly obnoxious.
Peaches quickly followed her. "Xiven! Stop!"
She craned her neck to look at her mother with an expression of "What do you want?"
"You can't take those off!"
She dropped the chains and gave her mother a small growl. "I just did. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to drop these in one of the ponds."
"You can't do that!" Peaches protested as she stared at her daughter as if she had two heads.
"Watch me," Xiven said in the same sing song tone that her mother used with her so very often. She was hardly ungrateful for what her mother usually had to say but--really an argument wasn't going to help this cause. She had no valid reason to wear her bindings anymore. And she wasn't planning to. Never again.
"You could at least..." Peaches started as she watched her daughter pick up the chains and start to walk away. It was too late to teach her now, wasn't it? The woman sighed as she started at the receding figure. Once again she failed at this proper mother thing. Loreta would get a kick out of this.
