The small deli was actually a rather terrible one. The coffee was frequently burnt, the bread occasionally had bits of mold, and the general clientele tended to that kind of skeevy, vaguely unsettling, unwashed miscreants who were usually politely asked to leave other places because they were making the other patrons nervous. What the deli lacked in adequate service, it more than made up for in extremely attractive staff. Which was the entire reason Helena was headed that way. The baristas, the counter people, the busboys--they were all pretty. It seemed that appealing physical features were the sole requirements for employment, because the managers certainly didn't seem to screen for competence. And they seemed to be under the impression that Helena was the fun kind of crazy, which meant that she could spend hours chatting them all up and sipping the free drinks they occasionally sent her way. She hummed merrily to herself as she approached the cafe. The counter boy waved at her through the window. It was going to be a good day.

*this is during her Jack quest, when Aderlass made her leave for three weeks* Dilis was in trouble; she was kicked out of the courts for three weeks and no one to turn to. Father was furious and forced her out of the house and the only other family she had was Uncle Malachior and well.. she was hesitant to share this with him. She knew that the second she showed any kind of weakness (it happened often with her) he would mock her... but.. he was her only family so it would seem she had no choice. At any rate, she had to calm herself down before she visited him. There was no sense in going when she was still in such a tizzy. She just could not believe her luck, Father totally overreacted to her "set-back"... she would never admit to any failure. She was hungry now that she thought about it... yes, something to eat would be lovely and there is a deli.. what luck! Dilis sauntered over and smiled sweetly at the cute busboys. She would never exactly flaunt herself but she did know how to make herself noticed. She walked in and looked around for a seat and noticed someone familiar. Hmm... things would be fun indeed.

Helena had quickly fixed her attention on the barista, the absolutely adorable Morganberry leopard who reminded her a little bit of Hadyn, actually, though he was remarkably different in that he would actually speak to her. Helena was busy trying to wheedle his address out of him--something they had been playing at for weeks now, but he still didn't divulge the information, no matter how much Helena cheerfully informed him that the sooner they could hook up, the sooner they could have fun, but her hopeful chatter of what adorable children they would spawn did not seem to move him. Which meant that she would just need to take a firmer course of action. Like jumping him come break time.
That was when a tall flash of green and yellow caught her eye. Someone new had walked in. With pearls, even. Helena smiled brightly. She never forgot a face. It was one of her very few talents. Mom said it would get her arrested one day, but what Mom didn't know what that it already had.
She tore her focus from the barista, and gestured excitedly at the antler-topped kitty. "Hey! Hey, I know you!" Damn if she could remember the name, though. Drat. "Come sit with me. Anton can get you something tasty."

As she scanned the room for a free seat she heard a voice calling to her. It most certainly sounded familiar and she realized why but... the person certainly looked more mature than the last Dilis had seen of her. She smiled and walked over to accept the invitation. "Helena... right? You are- well- were one of the children I met at Mnem and Minh's house, correct? My you have grown into a pretty young woman. How are you dear?" She smiled brightly, glad to run into such a friendly acquaintance.
She unfortunately did not remember much about this girl as there were just so many children causing chaos for Mnem and Minh but she did remember a) her being there and b) her name. The barrista came over shortly after Dilis sat and she turned to him quickly. "May I have a Pink Flamingo, please? Make sure to add some extra protein in there as well." The boy was cute and certainly her type, he seemed to be a Selkie boy who had wandered away from the realm.

The hair bounced happily, thrilled as she was by the compliment. And the fact that the woman remembered her. Most people tended to get to the point where they pretended not to know her.
"I'm good," she said. Even though she still lived at home, in one of the odd rooms in the apartment, and most of her family tended to edge away from her. She really needed to get a real job and her own place. As long as she had some lovers to live with, that was. She didn't like the idea of being alone. She didn't handle it well. It made her follow people even more vigilantly than usual.
"Just out and about having some fun." She looked at the barista slyly. "Or hoping to. What brings you here--um--" Damn, she wished she could remember the name. Especially since the feline remembered hers.

Dilis was very pleased with the encounter with Helena; perhaps it would distract her from thinking about her situation and her father and she would not be so upset. She really screwed up, pissing off Queen Aderlass like that. But she had other problems as well, Prelude and she had a nice time on their “date” and he never called on her…maybe he had an accident. Yes, that sounds about right; ah well, there was still loving Hatter from afar.
She really was kind a sad girl, not many friends and no one to love her… woe was her! She would still always flirt though… sometimes she could not help herself. Coming back to reality, she addressed the girl before her. “Oh, I have just had a rough day and needed to figure a few things out. Dilis. I am Dilis. I know you were younger when we met so do not worry about it.” She smiled.

Ah, that was right! Dilis. How could she have forgotten? Stupid, stupid Helena.
"I'm sorry," she said, with regards to both the name-forgetting and the crappy day. Helena could understand that. She had a lot of those days. She grinned, suddenly. "I know what will make you feel better! When I feel sad I go out and find people and follow them all over, and then when they finally realize they like me and lose all possible hope of escape, we have sexy adventures."
She had a few people in particular she liked to follow around, of course, but Hadyn had disappeared ages ago, and others had relocated. She wondered if Dilis would be interested in capturing a couple of the coffee shop boys during break time. Or hunting down new and exciting prey. Either one would probably take the woman's mind off her troubles.

"Son of a bitch," Peaches said as she looked down at her straight jacket. It was very much wet and very much cold. She looked at the man who had spilled it on her, and returned her gaze to her chest. Freaking a that was cold. With a frustrated sigh she looked around for a table. Without really asking she walked over to the table where the two women sat and took the spare napkins that were at the table. All of them. None of them seemed to be soaking up the liquid very well, and honestly she didn't want to go topless in public. "Fantastic weather we're having, isn't it?" She said absently as she tried to force the napkins to soak up the liquid. "My friend thought it was funny to try and get me in a wet t-shirt contest. I failed to mention my straight jacket wasn't see through."

Helena was snapped from her brief, thrilling daydream about dragging a few baristas to the back and having her wicked, wicked way with them by a tall--to her, anyway--blur of purple and white that suddenly appeared and took all their napkins. She was soaked. And wearing a straightjacket.
A moment later, her brain finally processed the situation, and overcame the initial sensation of terrible oddness. Coming more or less fully back to her senses, Helena turned to the counter boy, who was watching them all with intense interest but not actually moving. "Hey! Can we get some towels?" The boy snapped to attention. She caught the towels, somewhat awkwardly, when they were thrown at her, and offered them to human woman. "Um. Here you go now. These might work a bit better. I'd help clean you up myself," she added, more cheerfully, "but I don't think you'd appreciate me groping at your breasts."

She was about to respond to Helena's question and offer the baristas up to the slaughter when she noticed the poor sopping wet woman. She offered her assistance, grabbing one of the towels from the counter boy had.
"Oh dear! Oh, I am terribly sorry that happened to you! They really do not train their employees well here, I should have a word with the manager." She handed one of the towels to the woman and sat back down.
"For having so much water poured on you, you are taking this quite well... I myself would be pretty upset, I am Dilis by the way; You are...?" She asked inquisitively, she realized she had not introduced herself.
This was luckily a new distraction, it made so she did not have to even think about Queen Aderlass or what had happened. She was happy to have a break but she had hoped it would be under better circumstances.
