"We did not think so either." She agreed with him. It had definitely taken them both by surprise when it had happened.
The mouse tilted her head to the side in contemplation of his question. "No, there does not seem to be any negative side effects. Mom is still running some experiments to see what she can learn about it. So far it does seem to have some interesting properties, of which we do not know yet."
She took another few sips before she steeled herself for the conversation that she had actually come here for. She sincerely hoped that it was not in vain. Staring at her tea cup, not willing to meet his eyes to see his reaction she started off shakily.
"Wyn, you know that you are a good friend of mine, right? You are one of my best friends, actually. There has been something . . . well how do I put it? I have a question I want to ask you . . . .but I am not sure how to ask . . . and . . . " She trailed off, staring intently at her tea cup as if there was something very interesting about it.

It was great to hear that she was fine and there were no ill side effects. What followed, though, took him completely off guard. He blinked a few times as he watched Elyse stare at her teacup like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
"You can ask me anything you want to, you know that. It's not like I'm going to stop being your friend because you asked me a question," Eilwyn gave her a reassuring smile. Well, it was there even if she wasn't willing to look up. What could be wrong with the question she was asking anyway? It was only a question. They were friends. What could be the worst that could happen anyway?
"If you're really uncomfortable with it, I guess you could save it for later, right? I don't want you to be uncomfortable because of me." He said quietly before taking a long sip of his tea.

She took another sip of her tea, trying to prepare herself to do this again. She would do this now. If she did not then she was afraid that she would never be brave enough to do it later. "No, if it is alright then I would like to ask you this now."
She took another deep breath before continuing.
"I know that you think of me as a good friend. I was kind of wondering if you happened to think of me as . . . well maybe more. I care a lot about you," She made a movement with her right paw to take in his eyes. "So I was kind of hoping that you might think of me . . . as much more then a friend too." She gave a blush at the last part.
She really hoped that all of that made sense to him.

Eilwyn wasn't quite sure how to react to that. For a good moment he was confused as to what she meant. More than just good friends... that would mean...?
Oh!
When it finally clicked his eyes widened briefly. In all honesty he had never really thought about being more than just a good friend. Even though he had had various talks with his Dad and brothers, really it just went in one ear and out the other. Now that he was faced with it he didn't exactly know what to do.
"Uh... I..." he started. He had no idea what to say to that. He could feel a slight blush developing under his feathers. What was he supposed to say in a situation like this. "I-I guess I do." She really was his only female friend. She had helped him with so much... and well he did like her. He just never really was prepared for any of this.

The mouse felt her heart stop for a moment before it started to beat faster. Could it be true?
Taking a deep breath which failed to stop the trembling that had started in her hands, she gave a shaky smile in hopes to cover up her nerves. She was afraid to get her hopes up too much.
"Are you sure? Cause I do not want it too seem like you have to return the feelings . . . It is okay for you to not . . . you know . . . see me as more then a friend. I was just curious, is all." Her reply came out a little rushed.
She really hoped that he was not just saying that to prevent her feelings from being hurt. If he did not know or did not return the feelings . . . well then better for him to be aware then completely in the dark - so to speak.

"Well... it's not like I don't return the feelings. I'm just really bad at this sort of stuff." He looked down and traced his teacup with his talon. "I mean... I haven't had that many crushes, and even when I have I couldn't voice my opinion. I was just that poor little blind kid that everyone felt bad for. Your really the only person to say that you like me and... I just... didn't really expect it from someone as successful and nice as you."
Eilwyn had reached a point beyond embarrassment. He just wanted to curl up in a ball and avoid any further conversation. He hoped that he was saying the right thing. He did like her. He had just never really thought about her in other terms than "she's a good friend and she'd probably pity me if I ever asked her about a relationship."

She gave him a small smile, truly looking up from her tea cup. "I am glad if you like me back, as more then a friend. I mostly wanted to just let you know how I felt and was wondering how you felt about me. If you need time to think or anything, you know I would never push you." She gave him another bright smile.
Taking a sip from her tea, glad that the confrontation was over, she sense that he needed a change in the topic. Mentioning anything more on the topic at the current moment was not going to do them any good anyway. As she drank she searched for something to let up any tension.
"So did you want any help cleaning?" She asked, remembering to their conversation when she had walked in. While she might have wanted to escape the chaos that involved Mommy-Mnem's cleaning of their own house, putting their minds to clean up this apartment did not sound like a bad idea.

Eilwyn was relieved that they changed the subject. Feeling much less awkward he smiled and shook his head. "No I think it's fine.I don't really have much to do, it was more busy work than anything else." He smiled.
There was a snorting sound not to far away. Eilwyn looked confused for a moment before he realized that Fern was up and decided to show her face. He watched as the bander stalked up Elyse and and opened up her mouth to nip the mouse-hybrid's tail.
"Fern, stop that," Eilwyn said as he finished the rest of the tea. He tapped his talons on the table to get the bander's attention. She snorted but walked over to her master anyway. "Sorry she's so unsociable, she bites everyone no matter how many times I tell her not to." Sometimes he swore she was jealous of everyone.
"We could... go for a walk together. I mean, you me and Fern."

"Hello there Fern, long time no see," she greeted the bander when she finally decided that she was going to make herself known. When the bander only gave a snort in reply, she was not really surprised or discouraged. Wyn's bander definitely was an unsociable one.
Moving her tail easily out of the way - having had a lot of practice from growing up with Monty - she gave another smile when she gave up and went over to Wyn. "No worries. I live with Monty, remember . . . I would not doubt if he would actually eat someone. I think he took an actually bite out of Se or Iphis once."
Her ears perked up at his offer to go for a walk. "That sounds like a wonderful idea to me. It is really nice outside." It would be an excellent day to go to the Park or even just for a walk down the streets.

"I guess we can have a nice walk in the park then. Even Fern wouldn't be able to complain," Eilwyn said cheerfully. He had heard stories about Monty the bander. Most of them involved him terrorizing people. Fern was a saint in comparison.
That wasn't here or there though. "Once you finish your tea and I put the glasses away, we can get going. I guess I can buy us some lunch too if we get hungry."
Eilwyn was quite happy, and nothing could really dampen his mood. Somehow things just seemed brighter now that he didn't have to hide everything. He was still terribly timid about all of it though. A relationship was something he wasn't used to. Well, he'd never had one, so he hoped he did everything right. He didn't want to disappoint someone he cared about. He shook it off and walked over to the door to grab Fern's leash.
